I was extremely excited about purchasing the GHD.I heard so many great things about it. My CHI iron broke so I figured I'd try a different brand. I was not very impressed with the GHD. I have thick curly hair. My CHI was great at straightening my hair. What I've noticed about this iron is that it's "stingy" in a sense. If I put certain products on my hair and try to straighten with the GHD, I don't get very good results (if any at all). Basic point is I recommend this product for people with naturally straight hair, but if you have ethnic hair like me I would recommend the CHI. MK3 is a good flat iron to own, it's the one able to create very smooth and shiny hair, I like it very much and use it 2 or 3 times a week. I have a CHI and also a GHD straightener and the GHD just doesn't seem to straighten my hair like my CHI. It straightens it but it's still fuzzy. I'm bi-racial with pretty curly hair but I think I'm going to stick to my CHI. i had this product for 5 yrs now.its still working great.i tried alot of straighteners, around 4 different brands but i find this one as the best!!!its one of my best possesions ever.i bought it when i was still in the uk and now im in the us...im still using it..it does wonders.
