Product Rating: 5 Best out there
Reviewer: Ronda from Missouri  Sat Mar 15 2008

As a woman who just turned 40 and finding that the ageing process is not getting easier, I am trying to use more sun screen and stay out of the sun. I have tried MANY other self tanners and Fake Bake lotion by far is the best. It's thick to put on and doesn't rub in as easy but I add a little lotion in with it, mix it up in the palm of my hand and then it's so much easier to spread not to mention, you're adding lotion to your skin to help with moisturizing.
I did this once a day for about 3 days and I am now the color I want to be for the summer!

Product Rating: 2 Smells awful
Reviewer: Julia   Sat Mar 15 2008

I have used tonnes and tonnes of different self tanners, and this one has got to be one of the worste smelling. It makes you look super tanned when you apply it but when u shower it comes off and you just have a subtle tan. It is also very streaky, and turns your palms dark dark brown and its very very hard to wash this off your hands after you apply it unless u wear gloves...

Product Rating: 2 gives great chocolate colour and EXTRA dry, flaky and super sensetive skin! :(
Reviewer: Kate   Wed Mar 05 2008

I loved the colour but I hated that all my body got VERY dry and flaky! I did everything right but then the day after I couldnt even apply a moisturizer because my skin got so sensetive it hurts :( It lasts long, the colour is nice but it made my skin dry, flaky + it wasnt that good as I expected..I bought the full set and the only thing I really liked was the skin smoothie. thats the only fake bake thing i'll ever buy again. not the tanning lotion because it took me about 2 weeks to recover for my skin. and Im not pure white. my skin is in medium colour and normally it isnt sensetive. I guess this one just had too much chemicals inside. wont buy again.

Product Rating: 4 Great Tanner
Reviewer: Suzanne from Scotland/ Canada  Sun Mar 02 2008

I am very fair skinned with fair hair and have used many self tanner's over the years. Although, I now use St Tropez, only for the fact that the colour is more suited to my skin tone than any other I have found.
Fake Bake However, is great too, just a little too dark for my colouring. If you want a medium to dark tan though it's brilliant.
The guide colour is great for application and although it looks dark at first, rinses off to leave a lovely colour.
I'd also like to say that it is not the self tanner that streaks, it is the person applying it that determines whether it streaks or not!

OMG! This is a revolution in the tanning industry. I have owned and operated a salon for over 10 years, and with the proper consulting on which product is best for you is highly recomended. There are professionals for a reason. I must also add; the cost is sooooooooooo much cheaper & the time and energy it takes to build a tan otherwise! Look for a professional near you that is skilled. This is by far the BEST SUNLESS TANNING PRODUCT LINE and is in a league of its own! ANTI-AGING too! OMG

Product Rating: 3 Too Expensive
Reviewer: CoCo   Tue Feb 19 2008

Bare Escentuals faux tan is just as good and less messy and less expensive.

Product Rating: 5 Best I've ever used!
Reviewer: SAP08 from Atlanta, GA  Wed Jan 16 2008

I've tried tons of sunless tanners & this one is by far the best one ever. It gives you a very natural brown color. It looks like you have been to the beach for a week. I love this product and I will definetely be using it this summer instead of destroying my skin in the tanning bed. I highly recommend you try it out!

Product Rating: 2 Messiest product ever
Reviewer: Elle from NYC  Tue Nov 27 2007

I got the recommended gloves and I applied this product. It streaked and I stood naked for over 25 minutes because it doesn't dry very fast. The end result was not worth the work and suffering that I devoted. Never again!

The product left my bed sheets a complete and total mess. While the color is dark when applied, the morning after the shower the color is completely gone. It took 4-5 applications (and nights of messy bed sheets) before any color was revealed. Lots of mess and work for poor results.

It has a nice color, but made me breakout. I would be carefull using this product. It is very messy and hard to smooth into the skin.

Product Rating: 5 great product
Reviewer: scarl3tt from new york  Tue Feb 20 2007

I get very pale in the winter time and this product has been great for me. When whe you first apply you look like you've been rolling around in mud and it need at least an hour to dry but the result is worth it. The color is very natural. Apply a few times to achieve desired color then I suggest to maintain color apply once a week. The color lasts at least a week.

Product Rating: 3 nice result, messy application process
Reviewer: Chase from Los Angeles  Mon Sep 18 2006

I started using Fake Bake after a nicely tanned friend told me that she used it. The resulting color is a toasty brown, but the application process is an absolute nightmare. There's a built-in bronzer that helps guide you as you apply, but it leaves funny looking streaks everywhere (not indicative of results, however, which are usually even). I kind of like the color of the bronzer itself, but it often leaves one looking quite "I just rolled in fresh mud" dirty. Fake Bake is good in terms of longevity, but there are good drugstore bronzers that are much cheaper. The application process really undercuts the product's qualities. It does the job, but one inevitably looks quite odd for a few hours after applying the stuff.

Product Rating: 1 Don't buy it!
Reviewer: Aimee from Phoenix  Fri Aug 04 2006

I have tried several self-tanning lotions and this one is the worst by far! When you put it on, it makes your skin look dirty and splotchy, and it's greasy and smells awful! It doesn't ever seem to dry and it rubs off on clothing and sheets, leaving dark, permanent stains. It makes you look like a character in a horror movie when you put it on! Spend your money on a great product that looks great on, like Xen Tan or St. Tropez products.

Product Rating: 3 Fake Bake Lotion I grade it a "C+"
Reviewer: Mayra from Chicago, Il. (West Side)  Wed Aug 02 2006

After reading all these reviews on this product, I decided to buy the product. This product can be messy, but great color once you spread it all over your body. There's few things that I dislike about the product is that is to thick and hard to rub into skin. Once I rubbed my feet they look dirty instead of tan. This product is a little expensive and for what I paid should dry fast, but it takes hours to dry. I've try many tanning products, but this seems to work the best. I will sugguest to try the gel or spray better then the lotion.

Product Rating: 5 Best ever
Reviewer: Nicola from Bermuda  Fri Jul 21 2006

I am a working hairdresser mom living in Bermuda, no time to build up a decent tan, have tried every false tan on the market, this is the best, look like I have spent the day on the beach!! Little goes a long way, find I do need to exfoliate once a week though.

Product Rating: 1 HORRIBLE!!!!
Reviewer: Lindsey from Tustin  Mon Jun 26 2006

The product is extremely greasy and messy. I used it at night and stood around naked for over an hour, but the product still hadn't dried completely. When I finally went to bed, I had to sleep on towels to avoid staining my sheets. I took a shower the next day and was horrified. Despite claims made by the manufacturer, the product is VERY orange especially in natural sunlight. My legs especially were SOOOO streaky. Thanks to the fact the product lasts for so long, I still haven't been able to wear anything except pants and long sleeves for the last 6 days because I am so embarassed about the way the product has made my skin look. If you decided to try it, make sure you can take the risk of having orange/streaky skin for at least a week. Also, it stains clothes as well the towels I used.

Product Rating: 3 just okay....
Reviewer: Amy from Tampa, Fl  Wed Jun 14 2006

I have tried this product 3 times now and I not impressed. It is very messy compared to the other self tanners I have used in the past.(must wear gloves) Color is very light after you shower and also stains pj's.

Product Rating: 4 Fake Bake
Reviewer: Tracy   Fri Jun 02 2006

This product leaves a wonderful color the next day, but it's so dark and greasy straight out of the bottle. Also, it stains sheets and pajamas. When you apply it to your face, you look like a totally different person -- my dog was afraid of me. But, the color the next day is worth it.

Product Rating: 5 Amazing!
Reviewer: Brit   Sun Apr 09 2006

My sister and I wanted to get a nice looking tan without having to worry about exposing ourselves to harmful radiation by laying out or going to tanning salons. A friend of ours told us about Fake Bake and we figured we'd give it a shot. IT WAS AMAZING! It worked so well. We were worried a little when we applied it because it looks dark when you have it on but when you wash it off, it looks fantastic. After a few nights, you look like you've been laying out for a week. And no orange! It's the best self-tanner out there, in our opinion!

Product Rating: 5 Deep Dark Tan in Minutes!
Reviewer: Heather   Mon Mar 06 2006

Excellent product! I am naturally fair with dark hair so when I tan I usually get brown - not golden, not red, just brown. This product was PERFECT for my skin tone. Start slow because a little goes a loooong way. Also, you will want to wear the gloves unless you like the "just out of the garden" look. I bought the whole kit - exfoliator and dry oil. I would skip the exfoliate. There are other less expense ones out there that you can pick up at the mall or drug store that are just as good but the dry oil spray is nice and helps maintain your color.
