The FHI Platform Series with nano titanium oxide and nano silver technology also helps to remove any harmful chemicals as well as kill bacteria. These ceramic heaters with a maximum temperature of 450 degrees Fahrenheit and ultra rapid heat up time has consistent heat across the entire surface of the plates allowing damp to dry styling, ultra rapid heat recovery and improved reliability. All Platform Series irons allow temperature adjustments from 140 degrees to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, which greatly increases their versatility as a hair styling tool. Features & Benefits:

My concern is how long it takes to get it done. After I blow dry my hair it takes me about 15 minutes. This flat iron is light weight and easy to use. It does heat up fast and even without product it does it's job. My hair is pretty thick and it does work! I'd love the ghd I'm just not sure I could spend that much money for it. I'm writing in response to some of the reviews I have read. One reviewer mentioned that this iron does not work in humidity while her prior iron which fried her hair kept her hair straight. The iron that fried your hair thermally reconstructed your hair so that your curl pattern was permanently changed. The FHI Platform is a 1000x better iron which will not fry your hair thus not ruin your curl pattern. It uses tourmaline and far-infrared heat to straighten your hair from the inside while other irons just slowly burn your hair straight. Also others are saying it is too delicate for the price. Again, you are dealing with a professional iron that is not meant to be dropped! Buy yourself an iron stand so that you don't drop it as it rests on your counter or do your hair seated in front of a long mirror. If you purchase your FHI iron from a licensed distributor, it comes with a warranty so you can replace it if something happens. FHI has always been kind and helpful anytime one of my appliances got damaged and gave me a full replacement on both my 2000 nano pro dryer and my platform iron. This is a professional tool people hence the steep price! it is actually meant for stylists! If you treat it well it will be well to you! If your hair is straight then you don't need to spend $200 on this iron. you can buy cheaper ceramic and tourmaline irons. This is a top of the line iron that means serious business. I've recommended this iron to so many stylists and non-stylists who need this type of heat from an iron. It works miracles on my West African 4b hair. I was so excited to have the FHI I was told the CHI was not as good and I would be surprised by how much better FHI was. I have a relaxer and I blow my hair out. The FHI was such a disappointment it curled the hair well but did not straighten it; the CHI always straightened my hair so well that people always think I wear a wig and want to see if my hair is a weave this FHI did not smooth my hair and did nothing for me-it just looked as if I went through it with a traditional hot comb. Needless to say I returned the FHI and exchanged it for my low priced tried and true CHI.
Customer Photo: This straightener gives you VERY nice, healthy hair. Before this, I owned 2 Conairs and I hadn't noticed until I purchased the FHI Platform that I was actually frying my hair all this time. My hair used to, admittedly, look stiff but when I use the FHI, it looks like I naturally have straight hair. I have mixed European/North African hair... it's 'European' but with tight curls. I just blowdry straight and then run the straightener over each section once, twice max, and I am good to go. I have very little split ends with the FHI and I don't use a very good heat protectant... HOWEVER, this straightener does NOT work in humidity. When I first bought this, I lived in the Canadian Prairies, which were dry for the most part. When it rained or was humid (which wasn't very often), my hair would curl. I also noticed that with the Conair, I'd wake up with [still] straight hair, and with the FHI, I'd wake up with curly, bent hair. I moved to Montreal last year which is very humid and rainy and my hair ALWAYS would curl up or get flips at the ends. In extreme humidity it would be frizzy within 10 minutes. There are structural problems with this straightener. One of the plates loosened (like a previous reviewer mentioned). It's being held in place by a wire. It still works, but can get annoying. This happened to my hair stylist too and it almost burned me. I think for so much money, your hair should not curl, and your plates shouldn't fall out! If you live in a dry climate and will never drop your straightener, I really recommend the FHI Platform. I bought mine in September 2007 and other than the plate, it's still going strong. If you live anywhere humid, like BC, WA, GA, LA, TN, etc... it's just not worth it. I heard the Solia and Sedu can hold your hairstyle, so I am going to try this next... I am moving to Vancouver (where it 'always' rains) and I can't risk having poofy hair everytime I leave the house! Read all 37 customer reviews ...
