Product Rating: 2 FHI for fine hair
Reviewer: Shanna Velez   Sun Oct 25 2009

Fine hair doesn't even need alot of heat and the flat iron was horrible. The plates didn't grasp my hair enough to straighten it. It took me 3 to 4 strokes to even get my hair straight. I wouldn't waste your money. If it doesn't work of fine hair its not going to work on thick FYI.

Product Rating: 5 Best iron by far
Reviewer: Cindy   Sat Oct 10 2009

I've tried the CHI iron along time ago and I immediately became obsessed with flat irons, and I was determined to find the best one, considering prices and my budget of course. After looking into the CHI I figured it wasn't all that great so I began researching FHI. I've had the FHI technique for a good 2 years, and I tend to be a clumsy with expensive things. I dropped it a countless amount of times and it even started cracking just recently. It still works like a gem. The plates are hot enough but not too hot so that it damages your hair. It is a tourmaline iron with ceramic BEVELED plates. It is perfect, and has worked perfectly for all of my friends so far. I tried the solia recently and it feels so cheap and light compared to my 2 year old FHI. The folica product detail doesn't serve this baby justice. Look at the description on fhiheat.com! It is amazing! 5 stars

I never realized how great my iron was until I tried the Solia. I know my views arent biased because even my little sisters can tell the difference! FHI is the way to go!!

Product Rating: 5 Great Iron
Reviewer: Stacey from Georgia  Sun Jul 12 2009

Having used a CHI and several others I feel this is a great iron. I am African American with medium length relaxed hair. In between relaxers, my FHI keeps my root straight enough to manage my hair. I use it along with CHI silk infusion or the the CHI thermal protection spray.

I sometimes travel and do hair for friends and family and everyone loves when I flat iron their hair. They look as if they left the salon. The key is to protect your hair but don't weigh it down with a lot of product. Overall its pretty sturdy. I've dropped this flat iron numerous times and it still works as good as the day I bought it. I have never had any problems or received any complaints.

Product Rating: 1 Very damaging to my highlighted hair...
Reviewer: Janet McD from Palm Beach County, Florida  Sat May 23 2009

I have naturally curly, sometimes frizzy, color-treated hair, and because there's no temperature setting onn this one, the excessive heat that it comes to (I think someone here said 410 degrees. No flat iron should have a "carte blanche" heat setting!! I'm sure FHI, when designing this flat iron without a temp. setting (for whatever reason I'll never hazard to guess why) they of course made it heat up ultra hot so it would straighten a moose's mane. Problem is, if your hair is more of a fragile state like mine is, you're cooked!...literally ! My hair is so broken off...too much damage was done before I figured what was going on...FHI appliances are probably fine...but only those with a heat setting. Whatever in heaven made them decide to make a flat iron with no way to alternate the heat settings, I don't know...but I'll bet there are a lot of damaged heads of hair out there...they ought to pull this one off the market without delay!!! I have actually burned my hands when going to grab the section that I just ironed through! It's a hazard...are you listening FHI???

Product Rating: 4 Great straightener; better than the CHI in my experience
Reviewer: Megan from Seattle, WA   Sun Mar 22 2009

I have the new FHI technique (G2) in pink. I love this straightener! The ionic technology really helps to straighten my hair without frying it... I can also straighten my thick hair in record time. One word of advice though: do not buy this straightener if you are looking for a curling device, because it gets too hot (410 degrees) to curl and burns your hands. Otherwise, it is an excellent straightener, especially for the price. It has very similar features to its higher end counterparts (such as the platform), just without temperature control. Personally, I don't mind that it doesn't have temp control, because it hasn't fried my hair thus far.

Product Rating: 2 Not good for thick hair
Reviewer: Stefanie Parker   Fri Feb 27 2009

I am 25 and have been flattening my hair since I was 14. I have had 4 different flat irons. The FHI was the worst ceramic iron that I have owned so far. I have very thick, coarse, wavy hair. It's possible that this product isn't good for my hair type. I don't think it got hot enough and it didn't maintain its heat. I had to stop half way through flattening and allow it to reheat. I recomend the CHI over this one.

Product Rating: 3 Good if your caucasian, not so much otherwise
Reviewer: Kay from Virginia  Fri Jan 23 2009

I bought this after having a CHI for several years to do my daughter's hair-she is African American and Caucasian & has fine, very curly hair that is relaxed. The FHI didn't work well-where the CHI left it smooth, the FHI left it puffy. The CHI straightened well, the FHI not so much.

I think it would work fine in Caucasian hair such as mine, but if you need more power, look elsewhere.

Product Rating: 5 Love it!
Reviewer: Hilary from Canada  Tue Dec 30 2008

I just bought mine today (it's purple!!). I have long wavy hair and it straightened it in 5 minutes flat. My sister, who has think, coarse, frizzy, curly hair -- 15 minutes. It's amazing, and it hasn't snagged a single hair.

My only gripe is that I know I don't need the full 410 degrees to straighten my hair -- I wish I could adjust the temperature to minimize the damage :(

Product Rating: 2 Should not of wasted my time with it
Reviewer: Shelly from milwaukee, WI  Wed Dec 03 2008

I bought a sedu and returned it because the plates were too hot for me to handle. STUPID OF Me!!! I am returing this product because the sedu made my hair sooo much smoother and straight. It's not worth the money.

Product Rating: 5 An excellent investment
Reviewer: Kayla from Snohomish County Washington  Fri Sep 05 2008

I recieved the FHI straightener five years ago for Christmas and it has saved me from over 1,825 bad hair days. It heats up very quickly and straightens beautifully leaving my hair shiny and smooth within minutes. I do not recommend using this one for curling because it does get very hot to the touch but it definitely does what it what meant for. After 5 years of dropping it on the floor, styling my hair with multiple products, and having heavy stuff thrown on top of it during travel it has held up wonderfully for a little over 5 years now! The glue holding the plates in place have just recently begun to come apart and I am definitely going to keep my loyalty with the FHI brand. My friend had a CHI and I used it but it just was not hot enough and it literally took 2.5 times longer to straighten my hair. Nothing seems to compare to the FHI when you have style, price, and function in mind.

Product Rating: 5 GREAT PRODUCT
Reviewer: Nikki from ohio  Thu Aug 14 2008

I have VERY curly, frizzy hair, and this flat iron has been able to transform it into smooth and silky hair. I have tried many other flat irons in the past, but this one was definitely worth the money. I have had it now for a little over two years and it is still working great. I highly recommend this product.

Product Rating: 4 pretty much amazig
Reviewer: A from Toronto, Canada  Wed Jul 30 2008

so i first got this hair straightener 5 years ago and it worked fine for me, no problems what so ever. i have thick curly hair and it didnt even take that long to straighten it either. I just recently went to europe and blew it up (something with the converter and voltage), but other than that i'd completely recommend it. I'm currently searching for a new one, dont exactly know if i want to buy this one again, trying for something newer and better maybe.

ps. i just saw the price. i cant believe how "cheap" it is now. When i bought mine, it was $220!

Product Rating: 4 awesome!

I have had this FHI flat iron for 3 years now. It works well on most hair types, since I got it everyone one of my friends come over to do their hair. It gets heated quickly and thus its the fastest hair style anyone can do.

Reviewer: Tony M Poth from Canton, OH  Sat Mar 22 2008

I just got the Fhi flat iron and Wow! I am a male cosmo student and the very first time I picked up a flat iron was about 2 months ago. I got a Hot Tools Tourmaline limited edition in my tool kit and it took me about an hour to straighten my maniquins hair! I just got the Fhi technique pink edition on a teachers recomindation,I asked if it was really better and she looked at me like i was crazy. As soon as I got it I used it on my maniquin and I was done in about 10 min and the hair is so staight and shiny! In the buisness I hear that time is money and thats alot of time saved + the results that are expected from a professional. My next iron will definanty be the Fhi, but this time Ill go with the Platform. Wow was my teacher right and This model is only the entry level model. I feel so much more confident about straightening my first real clients hair with this iron,I know she wont know that I'm a flat iron newbee!LOL

This flat iron is so well worth the price. It heats up quickly and does not burn or ruin your hair. I use it daily to straighten my hair. A must for anyone who needs a flat iron of good quality and that will last.
