Check out Mega Silk Heat Spray. My hair is thick, coarse and curly. Mega silk works fantastic. It has the same ingredients as the expensive brand name products, but costs a LOT less.
Comb technique

This technique will make your hair much silkier. Take a small section of hair to straighten and comb through it first. Then, slowly use one hand to comb through it, and use the other hand to straighten it by following the comb with the flat iron. Result: your hair is straighter and silkier than it would be if you used only the flat iron. This technique makes a huge difference!

Maybe it's the products I am using on my hair. However, not completely satisfied w/the FHI. Originally had a Chi but swaped for the FHI b/c of the better ratings. Will continue to work with it. Hopefully, it's a go all around
