to the one that reviewed this iron as bad, you probably dont know how to use a flat iron properly; too high temp for your hair type, and or, trying to straighten with damp or wet hair on a high temp, because i have been ironing my hair alot, for three or so years, and have quite long hair (below breast) and it is still in mint condition, i use a high temp (stubborn wavy curls) and use aveda hang straight to protect, also i dont color my hair, anyway i used to use an isinis by ceramix, it was good, then it broke, and i got a hot tools, it sucked, then i got this amazing miracle appliance and will never use another sooooo much faster than the others and no crevices that my hair gets caught in when in a hurry
Great!!

This item is great. No doubt it exceeds the random products you get at your local pharmacy. I must state that my hair is not thick and not curly, it is wavy and average, and it does wonders on my hair. It is definitely strong so I wouldn’t recommend using it on the highest temperature. For instance I use it on 320 degrees and it stays straight and looks perfect. This was definitely a great choice.
AMAZING

I love this flatiron. I have 3 of them now since I have 2 daughters that use them as well. When one of us goes on a trip, we can take one with us. The variable temperature feature is really nice. I prefer the 1 3/4" one (we have 2 of this size). The 1" does not work as well on our long hair.
Great Iron

My FHI flat iron is actually a 2" one, that i have had for at least 3 years, but i think i've had it for 4. I don't know how i ever lived without it. I have very coarse, wavy hair that i spent 25 years trying to deal with before flat irons came along. And i live in SW Florida, where there is frizz abound as the humidity is usually 90% at best. It has always worked great on my hair and never faltered. I've used it at least once a week since i got it, and often 2-3 times a week. It's fallen off the counter a few times, but hasnt' hurt itself. It survived 3 moves. It survived vacations in Jamaica, California, etc. I've heard the CHI's are so great, but i'm really inclined to buy a new FHI - my hair is much shorter now, and the 2" one i have is a bit difficult to manage with my quite-short hair.
like the best straightener ever (especially for ppl w/ thick curls)

ok... for all you lil'white girls out there with thin slightly wavey hair i recomend the chi. if you have thick/long/curley hair i strongly recomend the fhi!! it is amazing!!!! i have straightened my hair like every second day for 3 months now and it still works amazingly!! the only negative thing i have to say about it is that it has that ceramic straightener smell to it when it heats up. i hate that smell. does anyone know if the tourmaline straightener smells?

this product is great at first, but after you use it a few times it dries and damages hair.

I am a hairstylist in salon and on the road and thrilled to use this FHI Flat Iron. It heats up in 1 minute and consistantly maintains the heat in the plat when you use it. No false claims here! I have narrowed my service time down to less than 7 minutes with clients who have dense thick hair. Excellent for thermal straightening African American hair! I am buying more for the my road kits soon.
Great!

To most people the FHI flat irons are new but actually they have been around for over a year. I purchased my in december of 2004 and have used it every day for the past 10 months. It works amazing. It heats up in about 15 seconds and has a light that blinks to tell you when it has reached the temperature you set it at. If you have very coarse and thick hair the temperature setting goes alll the way up to 450 degrees. The temperature settings is a nob that you can trun up and down so you know how hot to set it for different hair types. After using the FHI my hair is silky smooth and soft. Do your research and you will see that this is the best.
