i bought this flat iron about 3 1/2 years ago and i have neverrr had a problem with it. my hair is pretty wavy and curly at times and it makes my hair sooo straight and perfect. i love how you can curl your hair with it too, its a little difficult but still its amazing. im buying a new one now. the only reason i have to do so is because i left it on and totally forgot about it for about 10 hours or something on the burn proof mat or whatever its called. so basically i burnt it out, but if i wasnt so stupid to do that it would still be working. so for me i had it for 3 1/2 years if not more. i highly recommend this flat iron to everyone
Wonderful!

I got my FHI on Christmas day. I used it, and it works marvelously! My stylist has used a CHI, but my FHI works much better! I have thick, wavy hair, and my hair comes out pin straight, and shiny. I add a couple of products to protect against heat, and my hair turns out looking wonderful. I would recomend this product to anyone looking to get just got back from the salon looking hair.

I bought the FHI for my mother for Christmas 2006....I did a lot of research on the internet and finally decided on this product as people claimed it is very comparable to the CHI and even better. My mom has fine curly hair. She absolutely loved her FHI. She claims that it is an amazing product and the temperature control is really great for her fine curly hair...She told me that the frizz disappeared and her hair turned out silky and static free...She said it was the best Christmas present ever! This was my first purchase from Folica. I was skeptical as I live in Canada….However, everything turned out amazing…. I will definitely be buying more products from Folica - very pleased with the product the service and delivery was super quick....Also, when I called to inquire on the different products, the staff was super helpful, patient and answered all my questions....

to the review about how hot the iron gets and that it breaks your hair off. my hair has been through the ringer with color, highlights, lowlights, you name it, and i use this flat iron and it makes all the difference. the secret is, taking VERY special care of your hair on a daily basis meaning, use good shampoos thata dont dry your hair out. i use blonde glam by redken for color and the conditioner is awesome really! as well as, periodically treating your hair with something similar to redkens DEEP FUEL. you also MUST use heat protector before blow drying and of course something WITHOUT alcohol on the ends when straightening like pomade of some discription (just a tiny bit through the ends or it will get too greasy) sounds like alot but my hair is in pretty good condition for all it goes through. its all in the care you take of your hair prior to styling.
good advice take it or leave it

I would like to tell everyone out there that if they are interested in a flat iron, that the FHI is the one to buy. I can't tell you how many compliments I have had about my hair since I have been using it. People are always asking me, "what do you use in your hair to make it so straight and bouncey?" My response is always, "it's just the new flat iron I now use".
love it

love it love it love it. i just cut my hair short and my old 2" store bought straightner just was not cutting it anymore. My hairstylist used the chi on one side of my hair and the FHI on the other and I actually liked the FHI better. The FHI has extreemly fast heat up, really easy to work, and does its job really well. This product comes highly recommended.
Absolutely Great Product!

I bought my daughter a CHI iron at a cost of about $100 and on vacation I tried it and really like it. While shopping for one for myself I was advised to buy the FHI iron instead. I'm so glad I did! It's a great product and I've been using mine almost daily for about 2 years. I only have to straightn my hair every other day (in other words, only after I've washed it). With a small dab of Biosilk and my FHI iron, my hair is fabulous in about 15 minutes or less, with no damage. I would definitely buy another one, but I'm guessing this one will last me a long time since it still works as well as it did on day one!
best condition, best iron

My hair has never looked or felt better. It is easy to use on damp hair or dry. My style holds even in rain and snow. It stays silky, smooth and just how I styled it for days. I don't have to get trims as often either. I've been using this iron for almost 2 yr. After just using it for a few weeks, my hair's condition improved. I noticed that when I let my hair air dry it looked ok. The condition wasn't as dry and fly away as before with other irons that dryed out my hair and caused split ends. With my FHI, my hair is longer, silker and prettier then ever before. I LOVE this iron. I would buy another if this one ever breaks.
FHI iron with Temp control

Looking through all the choices, it was difficult to make a decision which hot iron to purchase. I settled on the FHI iron because it is not as heavily advertised as some of the others and I felt that I could get a quality iron with more features for a bit less money. I am very pleased with my FHI and the improved control I get over my previous Hot Tools iron. It's very easy to style my hair with and the lack of any friction as my hair goes through the plates is a much appreciated change. I'm very happy that I chose the model with the temperature control because I have relatively thin hair and realize now that the pre-set temperature on some other models and brands would be much too hot for my hair. (I get good results with a temperature setting below the 370 mark on the dial while some models have a pre-set temp of 410.) The only negative is that the outside of the iron does get hot. I used to set my iron on the counter as I used it, but now I set it on the free pouch that I got. The pouch is a fantastic product, especially useful with irons that heat up on the outside.

I ordered the FHI 1 3/4" flat iron after my stylist told me that it gets as hot as the stove she uses when she straightens my hair. She wanted to charge me $160!!! for the 1", but I paid only $99 for the larger model. Before I got a chance to use it I cut my hair and donated it to locks of love. My hair was too short for the iron so I exchanged it for the 1" and saved $10 more!
I love this iron I have very thick, curly hair and this is the first iron that gets my hair straight. If there is no humidity I can go a couple of days without having to touch it up. They have a customer for life and so does Folica. They made my exchange so easy and I love the free gifts and great prices.
Worked really well for my hair (Thick, Wavy, Frizzy and extremely Damaged)

Last december, I was in a school play, and my friend brought this iron in. I used it and my hair looked fabulous. So I decided to buy one for myself, and the results were amazing. I have thick, wavy, frizzy and really damaged (From using an iron) hair, and the iron made it shiny, straight and smooth. I have tried all the cheap conair ones, and i decided that it was time to invest in a more expensive but proffesional one. Before I bought this, I was unsure, because some were saying it worked fantastically and others were saying that it was so-so. In my case, it worked really well, and I would recomend it to anyone who has the same type of hair. It gets very hot, but since I got a free heatproof pouch with it, I put it in there, and I feel safe. Overall a great product.

I have owned this flat iron since 2003, but for the most I haven't used it much. I find it very problematic that after a few treatments of my hair with this iron, the hair tends to lose elasticity and dry out. My hair started to break and that's when I stopped using it. The price of this iron is indeed very unrealistic when compared with the performance of the store sold cheaper flat irons, as both types of flat iron will damage hair and break it out a lot. It is good to have it, for sporadic touches when in an emergency, or to handle wigs or hair extensions made in natural hair. I would not use it too much of my own hair.

I've been looking for a good flat iron for a while and I finally feel like I have found one that is salon quality. I'm growing my relaxer out and haven't had a touch up in like 5 months. After I used this flat iron you couldn't tell at all! Magic!
Awesome!!

This straightener works amazingly! I don't have crazy curly hair, but it is thick and wavy, and this straightener tames it like nothing else. Also, my hair is quite short and this is small enough to get to the roots of even the shortest areas. Definitely a good buy!
Rather dissapointed--Mediocre product for a professional price

This is my third flat iron purchased, and I have to say that I am quite dissapointed. The flat irons I have owned before this one were store-bought, and cost less than $30. I decided to try a "professional" grade flat iron and decided on this one at long last. Now that I have it and I am using it, it is not much better/different than the store-bought flat irons of my past. It may beat these past flat irons in longevity, as they last approximately 2 years each, but it terms of performance, this FHI Heat iron performs about the same. My hair is not exactly flat afterwards, and it takes just as long as when I used the cheaper flat irons. I say either save your money by buying a $30 flat iron at Target or Sally's (etc) or go ahead and spend a little bit more and get a better quality product.
My hairstylist uses this straightener and every time she did my hair I could not seem to duplicate the look so I decided to use the same straightener--now I can get the same look. Easy to use, heats up quickly and there is no comparison on the look of the hair. I did not realize there could be so much differnce. I'm in a humid climate and before my hair would start to friz shortly after I used by old flat iron. This is not the case with this straigtener. I can't believe I waited this long to buy it!!
AWSOME!!!

great for ethnic hair!

I just want to say that this flat iron is so great! I work at a hair salon and one of the African American girls I work with actually bought this iron at an all black hair show in Atlanta. She loves it!!! This iron is really good for anybody who has ethnic hair as it gets EXTREMELY hot! Be careful though, because it is possible to fry your hair due to its temp. intensity. The girl I work with even bought a few for some of the other girls in the salon (who all had CHI's) and they all thought it was great, but very hot! So, my advice is buy it if you have wavy, coarse, frizzy or very thick hair and use it with a good styling product that helps to reduce the frizz while increasing shine and heat protection!
