I am an African American female who have used numerous department store flat irons. My friend suggested the FHI because she went 4 months without a relaxer and it looked as if she had a relaxer. My 5 year old has very thick coarse hair and the FHI straightens it better and quicker than a pressing comb.My caucasian and hispanic co workers want to borrow it all the time. Another good quality is it's quick and I only go through my hair once.Definitely worth the money!!

For all of you ladies who are natural(meaning no perms, texturizers or kiddie perms) this is the flat iron for you. I have been natural for 7 years now and I have used many ceramic irons. This one gets my hair as close the way it looks when I leave the hair salon. The price was not bad either!
Great, but doesn't curl like a 1".

The 1 inch version curls as well as straightens, so I have one of each. Be careful not to drop to a tile floor, the hinge will shatter!

I am so happy with this purchase. It works well and is fast! The hair doesn't seem to stick or catch at all..just glides. I notice much less breakage than with the Chi or others that I have used. The size is easy to handle and it isn't as heavy feeling as some. I'd buy it again.
No longer a flat iron virgin!

I used a flat iron for the first time ever - I'm so glad I chose this one!! It works fast, heats up very nicely and is very comfortable to use. I have long, wavy hair and it took me about 15 minutes to do my entire head! I can't wait to try other styles with it and use it on my daughter!
all in all, its pretty good.

All in all its a good hair straightener. It did not come with the temperature dial as shown, and the on off button melted while it was inside the "safe" pouch that is supposed to keep it from burning things, but itself? come on guys. like you didnt think that one through. It does, however, prevent me from using too high of temperatures that could hurt and damage my hair. One perk among the ugly.

This item does not have a ajustable temperture button, it doesn't get my hair as straight as other products have.

I am in love with my flat iron. It leaves my hair shiny and soft, nothing like my previous iron that was allegedly ceramic also. My stylist has been using these irons for a long time, so I broke down and invested in one so that I can touch up in between visits. I am a African American female with very thick hair, and I am currently growing my relaxer out all because of the results that I have seen over the last few months of using this iron! My next purchase will be a hair dryer!!!

I bought this iron to replace my CHI iron which I blew on a bad converter in Europe. This iron gets really hot and works well, but after a few months the plastic screw covers fell off, and now 6 months later, the plates are starting to fall out only when using it. Very dangerous!!!

i just recently exchanged my 1 1/4" fixed heat FHI flat iron for the 1" FHI with a variable heat setting because my sister has it and it's much better 1. because there is no grip on the 1" iron that is somewhat painful and 2. the 1" makes your hair much smoother and glides through hair easier. not to mention the variable heat setting on the 1".

I bought the FHI because my salon uses it. My other flat iron never completely straightened my naturally curly hair. The FHI not only straightened my hair but kept it straight all day, and I live in GA where there is so much humidity.

The iron has 12, count them TWELVE settings. So, to the reviewer who said she burnt her hair, she must have had it on too high. Personally I put mine a little above the middle, because I have damaged hair. It does the job in one swipe. Also, a note everyone you are burning your hair every time you iron it anyway.

I love my FHI flat iron...i truly suggest it to all.
its so much better than CHI. CHI is supposed to be amazing, but my hair is fine and it pulled and broke my hair. The FHI flat iron is great on my hair and leaves it so perfectly straight and silky...
