Waste of money

I purchased this product almost 2 years ago, similar with other reviews, I found that that this product did not waste any time showing signs of wear and tear. The optima locks up any time you put it on a curvy or fleshy part of your body, and is terrible for the bikini as it locks up every 2 seconds. In short this product was a big waste of money.
Buy the Cheaper Model

I use epilators extensively and go through one to two a year. Not long ago, I purchased this model and found it to be lacking. When it petered out I bought another for about $20. It was the same brand, Emjoi, but had fewer disks and ran on batteries. The Emjoi Optima Dual Opposed Tweezer System was less effective because of all the disks and the broad head. It only pulled well at a certain angle, so I spent all my time manuvering the head searching for the sweet spot that would pull twice as many hairs at a time. This machine was, however, better than any I've used on flatter surfaces. On the less curvy areas of my body I was actually able to effectively use the dual opposed tweezers.
If you can take the pain, this is great!

I love my emjoi. I have been using it on my underarms for over a year and now the hair there grows baby soft. I use the shaving attachment for my legs and can get a couple of days w/o shaving. This is good for me since my hair grows very fast. The emjoi is a little painful, but worth the pain. I love the fact that I no longer have dark stubble on my underarms. I have pretty thick hair so if you have fine hair it might be less painful. In either case, I guess that whether you love or hate the emjoi really depends on your tolerance for pain. I personally don't think that it is that bad. It feels like a pinch. I would have given it an excellent rating, but you can't use this on your face.
top of the line waste of a dime

I researched all of the Emjoi epilator products before I made my purchase; then, decided to go with this top of the line model Optima despite the higher cost. I felt the research showed it to be worth the investment. Boy was I wrong! The product is designed with a nylon gear system, inherently flawed from the inception. The gears begin to wear immediately and it doesn't take long for them to start wearing offset causing more problems. The motor begins to lock up and that adds to the rough wear and incorrect pattern of wear on the gears. (It isn't until the motor locks up that you know there is a problem.) Just one month after the warranty period, I had a product that I couldn't use and a company that actually agreed with me when I said so what you are saying is I wasted my money on your product?!
