Product Rating: 5 Effective Tool for Smooth Legs on the Go
Reviewer: Crystal from New York City, NY  Sat Oct 31 2009

I did much research before I purchased this epilator. In fact, not until this year had I known what an epilator was. I believed my only options were to use a hair removal creme (which more than often results in hair growth the following day), shaving (which results in "prickly hair growth"), and waxing, which can be expensive overtime. I began by going to different sites, two of whic were folica.com and youtube.com, where tutorials, reviews, and demonstrations were provided.

My ultimate review: I am completely and utterly pleased with the product. Some people may complain about the painful process, but sometimes, beauty hurts, and women more often than not will walk the NYC streets in the most uncomfortable high heels in the name of fashion in this competitively and fashionable society we live in. My personal experience with the Enjoi resulted in a painful beginning, but later along the path of hair free smoothness, I began to tolerate the pain as a result of its effectiveness.

Effectiveness: You must allow your hair to grow before you begin using this on your legs. Don't expect a prickly little hair growth to be caught by the Emjoi (as it won't even be effective in waxing either)! Don't utilize the product directly before or after a shower, but always make sure whatever area you're using it on, that the area be cleaned well. If you used it late at night, try waking up early in the morning and reusing the Emjoi to remove any hairs that you may have missed or that were too short to get. I loved the product and it is indeed effective. I've never had an epilator before, nor had I heard of one until recently, and as a first meet, it has been pleasant and effective to use.

Product Rating: 4 Works great practically anywhere!

First of all, I can pretty much say goodbye to my wax kit- yay!
Aside from the semi-obnoxious whirring noise when it's turned on, this device is a gem :D.

You won't get the right results 'til you do it right. No need to press the plucker hard on your skin, just lightly go over the area in the direction of hair growth.
Go over a small patch 5-6 times and the hairs will all be gone! And there isn't even terrible redness (maybe a little bit of red if done on the face).

Also, make sure the Emjoi logo is facing you when you brush away at your leg (thigh), so you get the general idea of which side to use.

Anyway, that's all the advice I have to give!
Works so well on the underarms! Just be patient :)

Product Rating: 5 Great Product!

I love my Emjoi Epilator. It works so well and is virtually painless. Now that I have been using it over a year, the hair in the places I use it is growing back less and less. At this rate, in 5 years, I will not have any unwanted hair left to remove. I highly recommend this product to anyone that hates shaving!

Wow it hurts alot the first 20 secs and then you get used to it. It works great. I usely have to shave every other day but now i dont. Also, I have very sensitive skin and I get really bad razor burn. Now, my legs are so smooth without the redness and bumps. It also works great on the bikini area I LOVE IT!

Product Rating: 5 Not as bad as I thought

I have light skin and dark hair so even when I shave, my skin looks dirty. Even after I shaved the next morning it was stubbly. I've done the waxing route, but it took too long and was messy. I'm not paying for laser hair removal so I thought I would give this a try. I read all the reveiws and was well aware of the pain I was in for. I was surprised when it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. It didn't take as long as I thought it would. I did my legs and my bikini area. I didn't use any numbing spray/cream/lotion and I was fine. I did notice that some hairs seem to only get cut and not pulled and some of the lighter hairs wouldn't come out. It was easy enough to tweeze those out. I'm enjoying the fact that I don't have to shave everyday and hopefully the longer I use it, the less hair will come back.

Product Rating: 5 I love my Emjoi Light Epilator!

I love my Emjoi Light Epilator so much I'm buying one for my daughter. I have very fair skin and dark hair. I would normally have to shave my legs and underarms everyday. I was continuously checking my chin and upper lip for unwanted "hag" hairs. I no longer need to do this. I can use the Emjoi Epilator everywhere I don't want the hair and it gives me great piece of mind. Now don't get me wrong, it does sting but it is certainly NOT painful. It's just a different sensation because the hairs are being pulled out rather than cut. There is a slight tugging feel and it takes no time at all to get used to this. Believe me it is so worth it, for the results are amazing! My legs stay soft for weeks and my face is free of unwanted hair without the use of harsh chemical hair removers. I wish I had discovered this years ago!

Product Rating: 3 GOOD, BUT DEFINATELY NOT GREAT
Reviewer: Chanah   Mon Aug 24 2009

I baught this epilator after my old one that i had for 3 years eventually conked out after being dropped too many times. I couldn't find my old one on-line so i decided to try this one. Although it gets the job done, it takes a lot longer then expected and i find myself going over the same ereas many times. I don'y have a lot of hair and for me this definately should work a lot better then it does. I have to say though....the light and double speed is definately a plus.

Not painful at all. It feels very similar to the pins and needles feeling you get when your foot gets numb. Don't be a wimp, just buy it. Didn't get any ingrowns, my skin is smooth as a baby's butt. Great investment! I love it.

I have a high tolerance for pain, but this hurts. It felt like a million pinches all over my leg.

Product Rating: 5 Just Relax...
Reviewer: Maestra from Bronx, NY  Sat Aug 01 2009

Well I was skeptical about this epilator but once I recieved it my sister was kind enough to help me use it on my legs...it was the most painful experience ever but after a few minutes my skin wasn't bothered by it and it did an EXCELLENT job of removing my leg hairs which are very black and thick. I HIGHLY recommend this product it just takes some relaxation and "tough skin" to get over the initial sting.

Product Rating: 4 love-hate relationship
Reviewer: madeleine   Fri Jul 10 2009

My supermodelesque best friend introduced me to epilator. I was hesitant to try it because I HAVE NO PAIN TOLERANCE. I read some reviews and decided to go with this epilator because the reviews said that emjoi was the best brand and this one in particular was less painful then other epilators. I just got it in the mail today and i love it. Oh believe me it took me a while to love it because naturally it's a love-hate relationship. I tried it and although it was less painful than I thought it would be i had to put it down and stop using it. I showed my mom and sister and they were able to use it without stopping. Being slightly jealous I put a movie on and sat down and did it. I started with my legs and found it to be easier if i did a small area and worked outward. That way it was very painful at first but then it got less painful as I went outward in a spiral. By the time I had almost finished one leg I was already getting used to it. I think it is defiantly worth the money I spent.

this is absolutely worth every penny. it works wonders.. i used to use the Emjoi epilator years ago and had it for almost 5 years until it finally broke. i didnt want to invest money in another one so i started shaving, and i was getting angry that it came back so quickly. i got mine in the mail 2 days later, and i didnt pay for faster shipping (shipping was free), and it is great. i removed my arm and armpit hair and it has yet to come back

I am pretty pain tolerant & I must say, this thing hurts! Especially the closer you get to your feet. I thought I would use it under my arms or bikini area but I wouldn't torture myself that way. Your legs become numb after a few strokes over the same spot, so I could get used to the pain & continue to use it BUT, I have very light, fine hair & it doesn't stick up enough for the machine to pull them out. I ran the thing over the same spot about 10 times and it still left hairs. I'm sure it is a fine product, but definatley not for true blondes. Wish I would have saved my money!

Love my emjoi. As with anything that is pulling your hair it does hurt at first. Second try it tickled. Read the instructions and just remember some areas maybe more sensitive than others.

I heard about how everyone is freaking out about the pain, but I just use solarcain? sp?. I use the stuff that you spray on after you get a really bad sun burn, just spray it on and wait a minute or two then rip those bad boys out! Numbs your skin and you can go to town. I will never wax or shave again. Love it!

I got mine today. I'm happy with the product - it doesn't hurt at all. Same "pain" as if I was using tweezers. I've tried on my legs and armpit.
The cons is the noise, it's freak me out when I turned it on for the 1st time and I still can't even use Speed 2 because of the scary noise. Other than that, it's worth to buy this!!!!!

I had an Epilady back in the mid 80's and the first time I used it, I ended up tipsy as I kept drinking to try to numb the pain. Now I'm in my 40s and I have hair everywhere. Mostly it's fine blond hair which is better than dark but still . . . so I bought this epilator knowing that it was going to hurt. I ended up giving the Epilady away for free at a garage sale letting the woman know that it hurt too much for me to continue using it. I probably half heartedly used it for 6 months. It worked, I just couldn't take it. So the hair on my legs is somewhat sporadic now because using the Epilady did make the hair quit coming back in places. I had alot of hair on my lower legs and now I just have a small amount here and there. I'm sure if I had continued using it, over time, most of my hair would have been gone.

So I tried out my new Emjoi this morning. I have to admit, the first time I put it to my legs, I thought, "OWWWWW!" But I found if I rub the skin right after I pull hairs out, it makes it better. I didn't think doing my underarms or bikini area was nearly as painful as my shins and ankles. By the time I was done for the first time, I was pretty much immune to the pain. Yeah, it hurt but my body had adjusted to it and it was more annoying than truly painful.

You do have to go over and over sections of skin to make sure that you get all of the hairs. It took me about an hour to do my legs, underarms, bikini area and face. I even did my thighs, which I don't ususally shave and they were a forest of fine blond hair.

Also, when you first start doing this, you have to realize that hair growth is on ongoing thing and just because you pulled out all the hair that was showing, that doesn't mean that in a few days you won't have more hair growth. For a while (I think 3 months or so), you will have to do this process much more often than you will after you have done it for the initial 3 months.

I'm happy with my new Emjoi and look forward to having a lot less hair in my future!

I have never tried one of these before but I am sure glad that I did! After reading all of the horror stories of how much this thing hurt, I was very afraid to start doing it, but if anyone has ever gotten anything threaded, it feels exactly like that. There is substantial pain, but your hair is being pulled out so the pain was nothing more than what I would expect. The bottom leg area hurts the most and I plan on going over them again in 2 days because they are not as smooth as I would like them to be, but every other area had incredible results. I am very happy that I purchased this product. It is worth every penny! :)

Product Rating: 4 Very Happy
Reviewer: Gretchen Chenard from NY  Thu Sep 04 2008

Some of the woman I know screamed out in pain after only seconds of trying this. I don't find it unbearable. Some areas hurt more then others but are tolerable. My teenage daughters had to be held down at first but now use it on their own. I do find I use it on my legs more often then I would have to wax, probably because I think some of the hairs are breaking off and not coming out from the root. Those hairs that come back right away are still very soft and fewer then if I shaved. I love the results from the emjoi particularly in my armpits. Feels like there was never hair there in the first place and lasts for more then 2 weeks so far. It hurt for a few hours after (those hairs are tough) but I don't get that burning when I put on antiperspirant like I would if I had just shaved. It would be worth the cost alone for how happy I am with keeping the hair on my arms away, I just love how soft they feel.
