I am not going to lie, its painful, but you are pulling hair from the root. The more you pull your skin tight, the less painful it is. You have to go over the areas SEVERAL times, but it does work. And the hair doesnt grow back very fast, which is great!

This product works very well, though it is not painless. Pain level was moderate to medium high, but it works very fast, so at least you finish quickly. Leaves area super smooth and it lasts several weeks, so it was worth the pain. Far more desirable than plucking or waxing, and does not leave any redness.

First of all, Please let me acknowledge that I know this is going to sound like an ad but I am truly telling you the truth.
I have spent well over $500 over the last decade trying to find the perfect cream, epilator or at-home electrolysis kit for unwanted facial and body hair. I've got a few strays that I started plucking as a teenager. I'm a brunette and at the time didn't really think about the consequences! They were very fair and short; and now, years later, are almost whisker-thick. Although no one else may notice them... I do and they drive me nuts! I purchased this product about a month ago and I have to say how utterly thrilled I am with it. It's not a cream or electrolysis but it pulls out hairs with ease that in the past have spent minutes trying to get at with tweezers, leaving a red mark or slight sore and they stay away for at least a few weeks. Any discomfort or slight redness disappears within less than a couple of minutes and leaves my skin smooth, smooth, smooth! Thank you so much for this awesome product and for pricing it so that I could finally afford something that truly works!

This epilator works fast and removes hair well. I have used other epilators before, so there wasn't a big problem with the pain. I like that it has a cord, so I don't have to worry about replacing the batteries. This model works best on the legs. It's worth paying a little extra for this one!

Results: I think this product is good if you have thick hair. I used it for my underarms, where the hair is thicker and it works great. Takes a little bit of time to get everything but it is effective. I also tried it in other areas where the hair is thinner (my arm) and it didn't work well for that area so I wouldn't recommend this product if you have finer hair. It would be better to wax those areas.
Comfort Level: It definitely hurts the first time but as you get used to it, it hurts less.
Product Quality: It's a solid product and the pouch it comes with is very handy if you need to travel. For some reason I thought this was a battery operated product, however, it plugs into an electrical socket so not a great product if you travel internationally frequently.
Other comments: It does make a lot of noise and the spinning "pluckers" almost make it look like a lawn mower for human hair, which I found intimidating the first time I turned it on but so far I haven't hurt myself on it and I'm pretty clumsy.

Not happy my old epilator worked much better, than this one. I have asked for a refund. This product may work well for others just not for me.

This is my second emjoi and I am happy to have one again! (I wore out my first one, a cordless, after 10 years!)It works just fine,perhaps better than my first one, but has a bit of a clinker/rattle sound to it that is a bit weird.

This product worked wonderfully, except that the power cord that you plug into it kept popping out. It was annoying, so I returned it.

I first tried this product nearly 10 yrs ago and have just reordered my 3rd shaver. At first it does pick and you do have some redness but after a while of really giving it a chance it works wonderfully. I can go weeks without shaving and i have always been very particular about under arm hair and many products in the past have not allowed you to use it under your arms or bikini areas. Thank you for making this product and never stop!!!!!!!!

Ive been that person that gets a " 5 o'clock shadow on my legs after shaving. I have very coarse, thick mediteranean hair.
I've even purchased the professional wax and waxing products, but have the inbetween times to grow hair to 1/2".
\This is a fabulous product. Does NOT hurt. Just a tiny bit on the top of my feet and very bottom of ankle.. The removal was awesome and my legs have remained smooth for 9 days and counting... I can once again wear all my great capris and skirts to work and not feel embarrassed.....
This product is more than worth it's price...

I just bought one recently. I'm impressed with the result. I'm glad I bought it. My skin is really smooth after the usage. The hair that grew back was much lighter and softer than when shaved. It also grew back at a slower rate than when shaved.
Hurts, But it work great.

this product just trims the hair, doesn't pluck any out. the hair came in one day after i used it. i trust the babyliss products much more.

Purchased product for girlfriend. Took a little adjusting to at first but afterwards she has said nothing but good things about it and she does feal a lot smoother where she uses it.

Well it took a while for me to get up the nerve to go all the way...By that I mean complete one full leg. It hurts, but is SOOOO worht it.....Buy it, if you want to rid yourself of the hairy bits...i did and love it! Hair gows back much slower(touch up twice a month)....Enjoy!

i don't like the way this machine is curved (opposed to the straight one i had b4) because some parts of my body are more straight and its hard to reach all those spots, but what i did like about it was that it had a faster speed than my last epilator, so it felt like it was doing the job faster whether it really was or not.

I am a 24 year old man, and I have coarse black hair on my back that drives me crazy. I was a bit nervous trying an epilator, becuase a lot of people complain in reviews about how much it hurts. I tried the emjoi gold epilator, and although it did hurt on the more sensitive areas of my back, it was nowhere near unbearable! In fact, it was much easier, tons more effective, quicker, and so much less painful than waxing! It did give me some red bumpy irritation afterwards, but moisturizer cleared that up quickly (try Lush's 'enzymion'). Overall, I'm really glad that I bought it, and I'm super pleased with my new smooth back!

I've tried many many types of hair removal, including shaving, waxing, and electrolysis, but none has satisfied me as much as this epilator.
I've never owned something like this before, and was a little weary of trying it, afraid that it would be another product that didn't deliver. Well, I was right in giving it a try, it's super! The areas of the body that I used it on and I would say works the best are: legs, stomach (maybe also lower back) and DEFINITELY underarms. It also works for bikini, but its a little bit frustrating, and it's much painful than the quick swipe of wax. I guess after you wax, once the hairs start growing in one at a time, it would be much better to use it.
As far as underarms go, oh my god, I never thought the day would come when I had NO HAIR there. Tired of ugly stubble, I tried growing it out and waxing before and it was the worst experience. The wax only pulled out half the hair, and all of the skin with it. The skin was so raw I couldnt wax again, a big pain in general. Unlike wax, this only pulls out the hair, it doesn't hurt the skin, so the only pain you feel is from the hair being pulled out. Yes, it is a little bit painful and irritating, but it's SO worth it. I also got rid of the hair on my stomach, FINALLY. It's just such a great product, give it a try!
