Contrary to other reviews, I found this really painful. Far too painful to use on my legs. I think I have a fairly high pain tolerance (a few tattoos and regular waxing is no problem to me) but this was really painful. I can tolerate it on the little hairs on my face but it doesn't get really fine hairs, so this product is really of no use to me. Guess I need to stick with waxing.
Great product!

Really grabs all those fine short hairs on face and anywhere you choose! Easy to clean. Beats waxing! Hair takes awhile to grow back. Really glad I purchased this!!

Hurts as ** but works great!!!!! Used it all over my body, pulls out very thin light hair as well as hard darker ones.
Its worth to go through the pain, which is not worse than waxing. Just did my bikini which I could never wax unless I had it done.
I am very happy with this product and my smooth body ;)

This product works fine: just note that it is not cordless.I like the updated design and non slip finish.

The first time was very painful as there was a lot of hair at one time. Also, it took over an hour, nearly two. Now, a few months later, I am using the product once a week and it takes about 15-20 minutes for maintenance. Down side: your legs never feel completely smooth. Upside: it keeps getting lighter and less dense. Hope it continues!

I have been a Epi-Lady user for years, so when I saw an add for the Emjoi Gently Gold Caress Hair Removal System, I thought I would give it a try. totally awesome, so much faster than the Epi-lady and a lot less pain.

PRODUCT WORKS BUT DOESN'T REMOVE ALL THE HAIR. NOT ONLY IS IT PAINFUL BUT DOESN'T HAVE THE RIGHT SHAPE TO GET HARD TO REACH AREAS. I WOULDN'T RECOMEND IT TO ANYONE, SAVE YOUR MONEY!
It's okay...not too good

this product is ok...the first time I used it , my skin got pulled into the epilator ..and it freaked me out...The same thing happened , when I used it for the 2nd time...It's painful...but yes the hair growth is less....but it doesn't remove all hair...it's time consuming...

I rated this 5 stars because it is gentle on the 'ouch' scale. Instead of yanking out the stubborn hairs like previous models, it seems to not grip them as tightly. Those stubbon hairs will have to be tweezed by hand or shaved. Everything else comes off smoothly and painless for the most part. Guys, I use this on my face and all over except armpits and 'down there'. I love it. I wore out the previous model. I use it about once or twice a month. If you catch the hair at the right growing time it will pull out the follicle, too. No hair ever grows back there. Use Ambosol teething gel on your skin to deaden pain if you are new at this. Do not try to remove all your mostashe at one time unless your you-know-whats are made of cast iron. Pic 1 is 4 yrs ago, 24hr beard growth when I started. Pic 2 is 4mo later with 2wk beard growth. Think of the time I wasted shaving all my life before this.
Good product.

Seriously... it would have been a bargain for twice the price. I absolutely love this gadget! I was terrified to try it, having heard many a horror story about the torture instrument known as the epilady. Once I got my Emjoi Gently gold Caress, I never looked back!
So yes, the concept of a mechanized super-tweezer pulling out your hair is sorta scary, but it sounds far worse than it really is. On a pain scale of 1-10, with 1 being stubbing your toe and 10 being childbirth, I'd give it the following ratings: For lower leg use, 2. Underarms, 2.5~3. Thighs and bikini area: 3.5. Mildly painful, yes, but no more so than waxing and tweezing. Unlike waxing, you can work at your own pace, take a break if you need to, and then continue. There's no mess, so sticky gunk on your hands and legs and delicate areas, and it's very very easy to get the hang of.
I've been using it for about 3 months, and I've already noticed a significant increase in the time it takes hair to grow back in. The hair on my legs and underarms is also much finer than before, always a good thing!
I highly recommend this product. It's been a lifesaver, especially in the winter. I always get nasty, dry, itchy skin when I shave in the winter, but this little wonder has never given me a rash or ingrown hair.
I would definitely buy this product again. Hope that helps!

Excellent product. Much cleaner and easier than waxing. Very little pain for me, when I first used it, I wondered if it was working because I could hardly feel it!
My daugher on the other hand is not used to waxing, and thought it was very painful, but for me I thought it was the best invention ever!

The motor wore out on me after a couple uses, to the point that it doesn't work anymore. It did it's job, albeit painfully, but definitely go for something more robust. I did have a lot of hair but it should not have been a problem, it's a machine made of metal tweezers for god's sake! metal+motor vs. hair...metal+motor should win hands down...basically they got cheap with their parts and it will show if you use it regularly.

I followed the instructions precisely, and proceeded to try this product. It did not remove a single dark hair on my chin area. For those lucky enough to have a good experience, they must have long light peach fuzz, is all I can imagine. Very disappoited in this product, and intend to return it to Folica whether I receive a refund or not.

Have to say, I love this product. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it doesn't do as thorough of a job unless the hair is a bit long, at least it's long to me. It certainly took an adjustment period of about a month learning how to use it, which frustrated me a bit.
However now that I know how to use it properly in conjunction with the appropriate skin soother to help prevent ingrowns afterwards, its great! I love not having to shave every day, that is just wonderful, plus there's no stubble and the hair growing back is finer and softer.
work quite well

Let me preface this review by saying up front that this product does work quite well. I bought this Emjoi based on the reviews of other customers, NOT on the basis of the full name of the product, Emjoi "GENTLY" Gold "CARESS" Hair Removal System. Had I just gone with the name I would have been in for a very rude awakening. There was nothing "gentle" about it. Granted I bought it to use in a very private area but it wasn't any less painful when I used it on my legs. I gave up on my legs because first of all I would have to let the hairs grow fairly long before it would even work and secondly, it would take forever to go over your legs. It is a slow process and you have to go over the same small area several times to get all the hairs and I just don't have the patience for that. It does eventually pull the hair out but I would recommend using it every few days to "maintain". You also have to follow the directions carefully. The first couple of times I actually got my skin caught in the razor and that, my friends, will set you free! I do however, get quite a bit of rash/ingrown hairs but that may just be my sensitive skin and the sensitive area I'm working in. The reason I am being so blunt is because when I was reading the reviews I couldn't find even one that would own up to using it for the private area so I was unsure if this was the right one to buy. In closing, I would say it's a very good product if you have the patience and the pain threshold required to use it.
Not worth it

Once you get through the shock of the initial pain, not all the hair is removed. The hair breaks off instead of being pulled out, as a result grows back quickly. Takes to long. Biggest waste of money. It's was past the return period for a full refund. Shaving w/a good razor and cream gives you better results.
It hurts!!!!

This was way too painful for me. Not worth it. Having my legs lasered instead. That's painful too but not near as bad as the epilator.
