My Hunt for the Perfect Flat Iron

Let me start by saying that I am of African American descent, and the first flat iron I bought was the original Ergo 1/2" back in 2003 (still works). I had a very short haircut and this flat iron was perfect for that. It gave my hair lots of shine, and as stated in the advertising got right up on the root of my hair to make it seem as though it grew straight from my scalp. I decided last year to let my hair grow and I thought my Ergo wouldn't do the trick anymore so I bought the Sedu, and then I saw that my stylist had a Chi so I got that. None of them provided the straightness and shine that I was looking for. Long story short, I went back to my 1/2" Ergo last weekend and after applying a light oil to the root and the ends of my hair there was the shine! I also tested the Sedu and Chi with the same method, but didn't get the same result. I wanted a larger iron to cover larger amounts of hair so I bought the new Ergo 1" Prosleeker. I was leary because the plates on the original were the ceramic gray type and these were different, but I'm happy to say that my search is over and I got the results that I was looking for. It's worth the price.
