I am the same reviewer in the previous two photos below showing the back view. I assure you that my photos are absolutely real and untouched. I would never mislead anyone as I know what type of psychological and emotional affect this has first hand.
Here I have two more before and after photos showing my top and frontal areas. Same bathroom, same lighting, same view, same exact camera. My hair is just slightly longer in the after picture of this set, but not my much. These photos are with my Dermatch and Toppik combination topped off with either hair spray or mousse. The previous photos with the back view where with Dermatch only. It leaves my before looking "thinning" top area completely indistinguishable from my normal hair on the back and sides of my head. You can't tell them apart even from inches away or even by feel. Honestly. These two products are amazing when you know how to use them in junction.
As you can see, using Dermatch as the main base, then Toppik on top of that will produce dramatic and more natural looking results than using either product alone. I use the Toppik Spray optimizer to achieve this level of natural look. Practice, practice, practice. Experiment and find what routine or application techniques work for your particular situation. I did a lot of trial and error to cut down on time in the bathroom while making the hair look more natural at the same time.
How I do it:
I no longer blow dry. I apply Dermatch with hair still damp using their applicator tips and comb it through while still wet to distribute Dermatch evenly. When I get to the front, I make a solid hairline in a lighter shade. I do this by using less and less Dermatch on the applicator tip the closer I get to the forehead. I let it air dry on my head for about 30 min. Once dry, I comb through it and then “fade” that solid Dermatch line I left before back into my hairline with a cotton ball. Once I got that, I apply a good covering of Toppik using their Spray optimizer, genly pat my head, and comb through it again. I repeat a few coats of this to the desired thickness I want. I use the Toppik Hairline optimizer stencil at the front to keep any Toppik fiber over spray off my forehead and keep in on the hair shafts instead. Finally, I apply either a good coat of hairspray or mouse. I end up with what you see in my pictures.
Dermmatch and Toppik is the ultimate combo. PICS.

I use DermMatch in junction with Topik for the ultimate one-two punch. DermMatch and Toppik can complement each other when used in junction. Dermatch is easier to blend at the hailine and I use it as my main base. I use a cotton ball and my fingertips to blend at the hairline. DermMatch works so well, I only need to use Toppik for very light touch ups, if any.
I leave each application of DermMatch in my hair for several days. This saves you time and money because your DermMatch disc will last you so much longer this way. If you gently wipe the excess off after application, and use a blow dryer on low setting, it will not come off in your hands or your pillow case. I wake up in the morning, and just style my hair untill the next time I shampoo. If I use Toppik in junction, I finalize with a coat of hair spray to "lock in" the Toppik fibers. If no Toppik, I finish off with styling mousse. This final step gives my entire hair equal lusture and shine, as well as hold.
The attached photos speak for themselves. The proof is in the pudding. Under directly lighting.
My only regret is that I did not find out about DermMatch and Toppik sooner.
Not Great, but not bad either

I will say that Dermmatch has boosted my confidence dramatically over the past 5 years. However, I personally believe it has accelerated my hair loss. Sometimes, shampooing just doesn't get all of the Dermmatch off your scalp. So sometimes these dermmatch "flakes" come off your scalp and is embedded in your hair. Your only option is to pull it out and when you do, so does a lot of hair. I recommend Dermmatch, however be prepared to lose a bit of your own hair.
What a mess!

Waterproof? It isn't even mist-proof! Not only does this product run in rivers down your head when it gets slightly damp, but when dry it transfers onto EVERYTHING. Brush up against the headrest of a car seat, a white wall, a couch, and you will have a huge smear. It runs in the sink, and is impossible to get off your shower curtain. Don't even get me started on the pillowcase issue. The dark brown is more of a charcoal color, too. Splotchy coverage anyway...save your money and try Organin. It's amazing.
Still iffy on this.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and have tried several application methods. I am a woman with shoulder-length hair, visibly thinning at the hairline and top of my head. Scalp embarrassingly visible. I wanted to LOVE this product based on the reviews here, but I'm just okay with it. The wet application method is a big zero for me, period. It adheres to my hair rather than my scalp, leaving me with a patchy scalp and pasty hair. I suppose this is because my hair is longer and it makes the wet method difficult to do. I tried all of the methods I saw on this website, and none of the wet methods work at all for me. Using a little or using a lot, it just looks like muddy hair roots. So I found a soft full artist brush and stipple the dry powder onto my scalp, then stipple again with a clean brush to "set" the powder. This covers fairly well, but to be honest, the powder seems to cling to the empty hair follicles and makes my scalp look a little like I have some loose dirt up there. It looks better if I apply a lot, but then it tends to drift down on my forehead if I'm not careful. I'm surprised that everyone seems to have such success with this. I just can't find an application method that looks natural - and I don't have bald patches, just thinning hair. What I can say in the product's favor is this - I look better (at least from a distance) with it than without it. You can't see the grainy stuff in my hair unless you're right on top of me. (Maybe I should rephrase that...) Without it, you can see the thinning hair from a distance. So I'd rather be with it than without it. I just really wish I could find an application method that made me happier with the product.
Sorry, this isn't close to water resistant

I used this and it is so messy! I gave it a month. It covers and matches nicely, but runs when it rains, I sweat or get any moisture on my head. Embarrassing doesn't begin to describe how you feel when your face is covered in brown drips and runs.It also bleeds onto your hands, comb, brush, pick, pillow case and into your sink; creating an ugly mess! Forget this one and try Organin Hair Thickening Fiber. It really works and doesn't fade, run or cover your clothes and bed linens. Be sure to us it before you dress though.
It even works on black men hair

I am a 56-year-old woman with moderate hair loss. I have used Dermatch for several years and consider it an excellent product. I have gone to two different hair loss surgeons, and both told me my hair looked too good for replacement surgery, and then THEY suggested Dermatch if I wanted more help. Funny, huh? I use Topix too, but think Dermatch is the real star. Ladies, I have found a blunt cut you can anchor behind your ears if necessary, a little back-combing and some hairspray make me feel, if not trendy, more confident. Plus,if you get your hair off your scalp a bit (letting Dermatch do its work)and hold it with spray, it stays clean for as long as a week, and you don't have to do the whole routine every day.
LOVE it!

I am a 55-year old female with "lots of hair, but it's thin." Except on top, where I'm beginning to see more scalp.
I just tried the dark brown color this morning. I like it! I still need some practice, but I do think it is going to work well for me.
Thanks to all who take the time to talk about what application process works best for them, as well as the finishing gels. As soon as the mall opens, I will go get some gel so the color doesn't look so dull.
Thank you!

Very Good Product.\Outperforms spray and fibers. First used spray which is messy to use. Ran accross fibers on the web. Much better than spray. Got a hair transpland and found DermMatch a week later. I found it quick and easy to use with fantastic results. My new hair is growing so I'm using less and less. Had I found DermMatch sooner I would have put off the transplant.\Covered In Florida
Amazing Product

I tried quite a few other products but this one is by far the best, but the main point for me to write this review is to tell people using this product is to throw the applicators that they send you out or keep for back up, and go to your local paint or hardware store and purchase some small foam paint brushes, they are far superior, they last far longer, it is 100 times easier to apply, and your product will last longer because it will come out mor evenly instead of mostly from the center of the container and cost between 50 cents and $1

I am 67 years old and have had thin hair/bald areas since I was about 14. Suffered throught it until I was about 43. Had two hair transplants ($18,000) that added hair but since my natural hair is fine, I didn't get the thickness or full look. I started using Dermatch about 20 years ago. It was an instant success. Since I had a thin covering of hair from the transplants, Dermatch made me look like a kid again. It really works good. Bit of a pain to apply. I generally shampoo about every three to four days and it always lasts for that amount of time. In addition, I have had no scalp problems from using Dermatch even after 20 years. It's funny, some of the old guys like me somtimes remark, "How did you keep your hair all these years".

After seeing the last post on here, I decided to give the product a try. I have been shaving my head for the past 2 years... but after seeing the reviews for this, I grew my hair back & bought DermMatch. My hair loss pattern looks very similar to the guys below (another reason I tried this out) and I must say, my results were the same! I bought the Topik too, but I don't recommend anyone making the same mistake. DermMatch is definitely good enough by itself.
So here are the facts... Change your sheets and pillow cases to black ones. You're surely doomed if you use the standard white bedding. The first night I slept with the product applied, I woke up to a very dirty pillow. The reality is, DermMatch will rub off onto whatever it touches& I'm not about to try to swim with this product in either.
The reality is, DermMatch is an excellent product. It does take some practice & time to perfect using it, but it's well worth the effort. Without this product, there is NO-WAY I would leave my hair grown out. I am very happy I found this, and can honestly say my confidence is up big time. I've been actually going out to lounges again pretty regularly, and my friends all think that me shaving my head was a choice! DermMatch WORKS!

I am a 56 year old woman and I have been searching for a product like this for many years. I have only used it once and it is the best product for my thinning areas. I have used Couvre for a few years and it never covered like DermMatch. My hair looks completely natural and full like I have wanted. And it is easy to use! Now I can go out without feeling self-conscious. I am thrilled and feel re-born! No kidding!
Thanks to the creator of DermMatch!!
I am VERY happy....

I was using the shake on fibers with some success but stumbled upon this. This is MUCH better coverage for my thining scalp. I am much more confident now- I don't try to avoid the wind anymore!. I ordered the Medium Brown, which turned out fine for me. Very easy to use. After applying monoxydil (sp?),I apply Derm match with a damp applicator around my middle crown area (that's where it is thinnest) while my hair is still a little damp. I use the blow dryer on a low setting with a medium heat. It stays put!!! My hair looks thicker AND you cannot see my scalp through my hair anymore. I am very pleased.

Hi - I'm a 23 year old with black hair and have incurred the wrath of god who has destined me to have ridiculously thin hair in the vein of my dad and a very obviously developing Crown baldness.
I would classify myself as a Norwood 6+. 6 for distribution. The "+" is because with the right short hair cut and combing technique I can trick most people into believing I don't have hair thinning.
Unfortunately - there is nothing worse for the man with thinning hair then the worry. Always worrying if your hair is sitting "just right". Are they looking at me or my hair? It becommes a self consuming condition and I empathise with everyone else on this page about the psychological ramifications.
Ok - the best way I've figured out to put it on.
1. Take a shower and shampoo your hair with a gentle shampoo - I like Garnier Fructis "Body and Volume".
2. Pat-dry your hair gently so as not to lose any more of the little suckers till your scalp is ALMOST dry, but still has a bit of dampness.
3. Prepare your field. Get the dermmatch, applicator, a DARK COLOURED SPIKY HAIR BRUSH, not a comb! THis will help you seperate your hair strands more effectively. Dark coloured towel. Blow-dryer. If you want gloves you can, but if you're not retarded you shouldn't get the product flying everywhere and its pretty easy to wash off your hands.
4. Load the applicator with colour and then work on thirds of the scalp. I work the right, then the left, then the centre. After you finish each third run your brush through to seperate the strands. Then blow dry, so it doesnt run everywhere. After you've finished - blow dry again and seperate the strands. Wash all the skin around your hair, especially on the forehead, and the back of the neck JUST IN CASE. I have never got product there but it would look pretty embarassing.
5. Waste half an hour doing other sh** while it air dries.
6. Now you can run your hands through it, use whatever styling products you want, and add Nanogen/Toppik if you have bad hair loss. I have bought the Nanogen, but the Dermmatch has worked so well that I don't need to use it just yet.
FINAL NOTE - After using Dermmatch and blow drying your hair will look "faded" so a bit of Gel, my favourite is Garnier Surf Hair will really help you get a great result.
Cheers!

It's a miracle!!

I am a woman who is 35 years old. I had thinning hair, not too bad, but thin enough that I had to carefully pull my hair back into a pony tail to make sure my scalp didnt show any. I spend $5000 a year on real hair extensions that thicken all over and look beautiful but they are not made for the top of your head. This product has changed my life. I finally found something that works on the top. It isn't as messy as you would think. You don't even have to use products in your hair anymore. I rub the product over just the crown of my head and over the hair there, from root down about 2 inches. I think it is best to then use a boar brush and brush through your wet hair to even out the product over the top of your head. I then blow dry, just the top hair, on a lower setting, with a round brush. You will get some product on your hands, but once your hair is dry, you can touch it and not get dirty. I use the dark brown, and it looks very dark here, but once it dries, it is a perfect match for my dark brown hair. I hope to God, this product is never discontinued!

I bought DermMatch partly due to the excellent-sounding reviews I read here. Anyway I received the product earlier this week and have used it for 4 days already.
And basically my opinion is it does not really thicken thinning hairs much, but it does conceal the scalp by lowering the contrast between scalp and hair. So basically it's kind of like a dried, powerdered version of COUVRE (which I have tried before as well). I prefer this one to COUVRE simply because it is DRY and won't leave you feeling oily or sticky.
However it my case, DermMatch works good enough because I use it together with a combover. I have really wavy hair, so if I do a combover, it doesn't look like a regular combover but looks really fluffy and full of body and "natural" specially if I blowdry it. DermMatch covers up the areas that the combover fails to cover and covers it up quite well and undetectably.
So while this product did not really meet all my expectations. It is works quite well in my particular case. It would NOT work though if I don't do a combover. If I used DermMatch alone it would look very weird and fake and detectable.
So in conclusion, I believe DermMatch might work better for people with less thinning hair than I have and works better if you combine with with other hair-thickening product such as toppik, etc. Or in my case by combining it with a combover.
DermMatch is a helpful product

This is the best of the three scalp covering products I tried. The intensity of the color varies with the amount of water used and it can be used without water for a light covering too. It acts like a powder when it dries so it does coat the hair a bit and dull it a little too. I used Bumble & Bumble "Hair Powder" which is actually a spray and is very opaque and like a mask, which is impossible to blend at the hairline. I also tried Organin which shakes on but it is difficult to apply precisely and dulls the hair and is a bit messier. I've discovered a condition called insulin resistance which can cause hair loss - research it on the web or consult a knowledgeable endocrinologist.
