i don't see how people can say this ISN'T good, unless you have extremly wirey hair. I've had this for 2 years and i love it. It has NEVER pulled my hair, broken it off, or made it fried. My hair does get a little frizzy if its humid out but other than that it looks great! Mine broke 3days ago so my mom went and bought me a chi. It was HORRIBLE the first time i used it it ripped my hair...Now i have like 1inch pieces sticking out everywhere from it. It worked terrible...So we returned and my mom ordered me another crazy straight....I can't wait until it comes in!
it was good for about a year!

well i got this straightner for christmas from my mom and dad about 2-2 1/2 years ago.. and it was the first flat iron i had ever had and it was amazing.. and my hair is naturally wavy, poofy, and frizzy.. i decided to get my hair chemically straightened in Feb. and using this flat iron still doesn't get it perfectly straight.. about a week ago i plugged it in and it wouldn't turn on.. so i plugged it in somewhere else and it finally worked. i kind of pulled on it a little and it turned off. so i just ordered a CHI so hopefully that will work ALOT better. my sister just bought a flat iron for $24 at walmart and that worked better on my hair then the $50 cricket.. these pictures are from before and after the Chemical Straightning

I got this flat iron as a bonus gift when I purchased the blow dryer. It really is only a little better that a drugstore flat iron. Its fine if you just want to touch up blown straight hair or your fringe...but to straighten curly hair it will not work!!!
Doesn't get hot enough but it is easy to use and doesn't snag.
I don't need a crazey flat iron but I want something that gets hot so I can get our the door quickly!!! I bought a Barbar 1300 titanium from Winners for $39.99. It heats up to 410c and makes your hair super shiny for cheap:)
I was gonna spurge on a Sedu or Solia but when you live in Canada it $30 shipping and you have to pay duty taxes.
So...go to Winners Department store if you want something that works well and is very affordable!

after only using it for a few months, the plates turned brown and parts of it have started to crack and fall off. my hair does not stay straight WHAT SO EVER!. the only good thing about it is that it heats up very quickly. If you are looking for new straightener, i DO NOT recommend this one!!!!
Buy it!

I have curly hair (not extreme but pretty curly) and I got this straightener and it works great! My hair is straight now! I use it all the time. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a cheap straightener! It takes only 5 minutes to heat up which is really good. It takes me about 20-45 minutes (depending on how my hair is that day) to get it really straight.
its good for about a year

this was my fourth straightener my and it was the best out of all four, this is really good, and it can heat up in less than 3 mintues. since this was only good for about a year, i got a new one the original chi model its awesome, but one this the cricket does better than the chi is that it doesnt give you split ends ! and the chi has damaged my hair with only 6 months, and i was using the cricket for a whole year and it didnt give me any split ends. so this striaghtener is good for about a year !
its okay

this flat iron is okay. it takes forever to heat up, and i keep it on all night, like i NEVER turn it off, just so it can get super hot for the morning when i straighten my hair. i got this for christmas hoping it would be better than the conair professional straightener i already had, but personally, i think the conair worked better! it is light weight but it snags your hair. my hair used to be really smooth naturally, but this flat iron has changed it DRAMATICALLY, and i do use a serum to protect it. my hair is thick and very wavy. it takes me 45 minutes to do my hair, and it doesnt even get it poker straight! my hair doesnt stay straight for very long and by the end of the day my hair is how it is before i straighten it. im saving to buy a baByliss or a sedu soon, do not buy this product.
shouldnt be called a flat iron

This Straightener is definately not something i would recommend for big curly hair, it works for thin already pretty much straight hair that just needs to be a little straighter but if thats the kind of hair you have dont spend 65 dollars because its not worth it, my hair is a little bit wavy but mostly straight and ive been using this for a year and its been working fine for me so i thought, but i realised its not really doing anything because my hair is already straight i just didnt realise it, and its really damaging my hair not something i would recommend however i dont know your hair conditions
this striaghtner is great

This straightener is great for my hair. My hair is thin enough and wavy. Obviously this isnt the straightener to use on thick curly hair.. if you dont use it right. You would be able to tell by looking at it. But if you use hair products to help, it works great. I straightened my friends natural poofy curly hair, and it worked fine.
To all of you who think this straightener is awful, maybe its not for you. Some said it fried your hair, obviously it wasnt on the right temperature for your fine hair.. or maybe you dont need a straightener at all. If it " yanks " your hair out maybe try learning how to PROPERLY straighten your hair, brush through first maybe?
And if the plates cracked down the middle, maybe its time to get a new one. Your usually supposed to update your hair products every year.. try doing something good for your hair.
This flatiron is so awesome for the price!

okay, so for all of you that say this flatiron sucks, im sorry for your bad experiences, but i used to have this $20 crappy conair flatiron and it totally did NOT work with my thick, stubborn hair. Now when my mother bought this flatiron, she told me it was $200, ouviously it wasn't, it was me who believed that I had an awesome $200 flatiron, and it worked GREAT. The only person who had troubles was my friend who had ultra curly hair, but for those of you who have wavy to straight hair this flatiron is cheap and works great. I've now been using this flatiron for about 3 years, and my only complaint is when I dropped it and a piece fell off, but i just popped it back into place, and tada! Perfect for regular use, not to harsh on your hair, lightweight, and works great their is nothing wrong with this flatiron, its just not quite as speedy as flatirons with higher levels of heat.
Alright

This flat iron has worked decently. I wouldn't say it was bad but it didn't help my hair to be smooth and straight the way the flat irons used by my hairstylist would. I've now had it for about 2 years and am looking for a new one. The plate is cracked down the centre so I can only use it when flipped in one direction, or it'll scrape my hair. Also, the swivel cord is a bit wonky and power only gets to it if I have the cord turned a certain way.
hate it

I went to a hair store with my friend full of pricey straightners and my friend bought this, the lady at the store told us it is probably our lowest price and best bet.
Well guess what it was awful. When we got home i tried to use it on my thick curly hair and didnt work. so the next day i blew my hair out straight, but i like bone straight hair for me. so i tried using the cricket again and my hair poofed back up 30 mins later. So my friend tried it and she has very fine hair thats naturally has a couple kinks in it, and did not work. What a waste of money and time. It just fries your hair. Your better off spending your money on a CHI or HAI. yeah their pricey but totally worth it and last longer.

biggest piece of crap flat iron i have ever used in my life. i've had it one day and HATE it. yanks hairs out of your head, takes FOREVER to heat up and doesn't even get hot, does absolutely nothing to your hair. my hair is thin, medium length, and kinda curly/wavy and it totally fried my hair after one use. it doesn't even compare to my cheap wal-mart one!
it's ok.

ive had this straightener for like 2 years now and im soooo sick of it. I have long, thick hair, butnot too thick. it takes me seriously like and hour and 15 minutes just to do my hair, and then its humid out, so it immediatly curls. it doesnt even fully straighten my hair, it just makes it look like ugly waves. plus it makes ur hair look greasy and unclean. im looking for a new one, and i think im gonna get the hai convertable iron cuz all the reviews on that r wicked good...
