i bought this iron from the stand at the mall and paid $149 for it, not relizing i could buy it here for less than half that price. i was also told i could return it if i had any complaints so i went to return it and was told it could not be returned but if there was a problem they could return it i told them it was not doing what they claimed and they plugged it in and said there was no major problem so they could not exchange it either. i am not happy ith what it does it gets so hot that it is damaging my hair and causing it to brake off. this is not a product worth the price i paid dont get scammed by the people at the stand at the mall.

So, my Conair flat iron fizzled out and I wanted a Chi, but I decided to shop around. Came across this Cortex kiosk in the Governor's Square Mall in Tallahassee and this woman demonstrates it and it looks good, but she tells me it retails for $220 but they are running a special promotion for $119 right now.
My hair looked good and it seemed to work, but these girls came up while I was getting it done and told the employee that they heard from a friend that they were only $60. The woman was incredibly rude to them and told them that was ridiculous and that their friend was wrong.
I was still considering buying it (she had straightened all my hair at this point) but saw the "No Refunds, Exchanges only" sign and told them that I wanted to research it online and if I found positive reviews that I would come back and buy it from them.
So...it's only $60 and I couldn't find it for more than $75 anywhere online, they have no website and I've read poor reviews on several other websites. This particular kiosk and this company in general seem VERY shady. Even if their product is good, the way they do business seems to be sketchy or a scam. I ended up buying a Chi after all and it works wonderfully. Just a head's up!
DON'T PURCHASE IT AT MALL

The same exact thing happened to me today, I bought it for $108 at the mall today and I am just now realizing that I could have purchased it for half the price here online. Another thing, you are right, there is no warranty on it because there is no mailing address on the brochure they give you at the mall, they lied and it is a rip off if you purchase this item at the mall or from any con artist. The product works well, but I am also waiting for the day it stops working on me.
.. wish I'd gone to Folica.com & read reviews first

Very disappointed at being "duped" by the sales guy. In the mall, the sign at the stall reads "Lifetime Warranty", but that's a blatant lie as in the box the warranty is only for one year, with no contact details of where to send it off to. So, basically, it has no warranty. Plus, the guy says "bring it back if you have any problems, we'll exchange it", when the receipt they hand you AFTER you've paid says "no exchanges/no refunds". Despite this, the irons actually work quite well, but I am just waiting for them to stop working as it seems inevitable! Also, I paid $149 for the 1" irons that I could have bought here at Folica for half the cost, with some peace of mind as I could have returned them if there was a problem. Finally, I see one of the ceramics has a part missing, so they are sold damaged too. BE CAREFUL - and never buy from these con-artists! Something should be done about them!

I got my cortex at folica.com and it works alot better than the one I bought at the mall. My hair is very frizzy in the front and difficult to straighten as with other straighteners it always straighens but with a zig zag not with cortex just once through and it is done ... love it ... no one can take this away from me.

my grandmother bought me and my sister this straightener from the mall for christmas. Within two weeks it didnt heat up anymore. When we went back to the stand we found there was nobody the stand, we waited half an hour and nobody showed up. We also found out that a lot of people have been returning them for a lot of problems and they were being kicked out of the mall. NEVER buy anything from a stand. I learned that the hard way

I had actually never heard of this flat iron because they don't have them in mall vendors where I live, but my cousin from the east coast recently came to visit and she brought the flat iron. She used it to curl my hair and the results were amazing. My hair does not curl! And when I say my hair does not curl I mean MY HAIR DOES NOT CURL! If I curl my hair with a regular curling iron the curl will stay in for about 20 to 30 minutes and then its completely gone and my hair is completely straight again, maybe slightly curled under is all. And believe me... I've tried everything. Even spraying gobs of hair spray to hold the curl doesn't work, it only extends the semi-hold time for another 20 minutes. When my cousin curled my hair with this curling iron it STAYED. I honestly could not believe it. And it stayed all night. I couldn't even brush it out.
The only concern I would have is I personally don't think its a flat iron you would want to use everyday. It works wonders when you use it, but it gets so hot that I have a feeling it could be damaging to your hair. I could see steam coming away from my hair when she was running it through and it felt like it might be sucking out moisture or something. (laughs) I did buy the iron though... I haven't gotten it yet, but I plan to use it just on nights that I go out or something to prevent too much hair damage. I don't curl my hair everyday anyways so its not difference.
Either way... If you have problems getting your hair to hold curl. THIS FLAT IRON WILL WORK!!!

I got this straightener from my sister and i just opened it today. I couldnt use it because the plates showed signs of us. I was very mad that the people at the stands (mall) tricked us. But im gonna go to the mall today and exchange it since it has warrenty and everything. I didnt get to use it so i have to straighten my hair with my old one =[. So if you buy it from the stands check the straightener they give you.

My sister bought me this for christmas. I was with her and we passed by that stand many times. The lady saw us looking and offered to curl my sister's hair. It stayed the whole day even after i ran my fingeres through it to test it! So when she went to buy it for me for christmas the lady tested my hair and it came out amazing. When she went to starighten it again it was a little curly stilll since my hair was still hot. But that happens with all straighteners and curlers. It was also $80 from 200. But what im confsued about is why the retail price on the box says 200 when on folica it ays it was 74?. I dont know maybe it was 74 on sale and they took extra off. Anyways you should buy it off of folica.com since it has a return polixy and the stands do not. They should to help ensure that their product is good whcih it is. Also i havent opened it yet so i dont know if their is a different with the display one and the real one like everyone is saying but i doubt that that is true.
IT WORKS REALY WELL
