My daughters are byracial it is the only flat iron that does a great job on there hair. We streighten on Sunday and only have to touch up threw the week. Best product I've ever bought and I paid $100.00 for it in the mall STILL WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!!!!!

my friend has the purplr cortex straitener, and it worked really great on my hair. I'd wud havetaken less time if she hadnt put stuff in it. Anyway, i have really nappy hair and straitening my hair takes forever, so this straitener must be worth it. the only thing i'm scared of is the bad reviews, is it worth it??

Most people are saying that this product is very good but actually, they must not know what quality and wise money-spending is if they would rather pay $110 for a stupid cortex that you will love at the mall and then call it crap when you try it at home instead of getting one of the best straighteners in the world Sedu for $118? i have tried the cortex and have had it for about 3 months now and the 3rd time i used it along with alot of heat tamer tresemme spray i started getting brown-ish crust on the side of my straightener that I have to remove with my nail and some of it still wont come off so everytime I use the straightener the whole house smells so bad like burnt hair..and thats exactly what it does. People do NOT waste your money on this straightener like I did, now I have to save up my paycheck to get a Sedu..thanks alot Cortex *NOT*!!

Wow, never had I ever been able to straighten and curl at home like this! It took some practice to curl but now I look like I just came from the salon. I paid too much at the mall but I bought my Mom one here from Folica so it's all good. I love our Cortex Straighteners! Chi, FORGET IT!

I just bought the Coretex pink hair straightener and apparently it was supposed to be 220CAD but the lady said that it was on sale with a total of 201CAD (after tax!) stupidly, I decided to buy it and when I came home, I realized that it was on sale on folica for 60CAD. YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.

My cousins have the blue one to this and I tried it on my hair and it was so amazing that I ordered my own the same day. I am Black with very thick, relaxed hair and after using this product my hair looks as if I went to the salon to get it done. I am more than pleased with this product and recommend it to any one who. If it can make my hair look amazing, it can work for anyone.

I bought this item at the mall kiosk this weekend after mine wenton the blink. I had a special event that evening, and needed a new straightener.
They started pricing it to me at $180, but I finally bought the designer edition with the leopard finish at $140.00.
I now see what I suspicioned....it is a rip at the mall, and this iron could be bought for around $60. I know I will not get a refundk as the entire deal had that look about it.
I plan to complain to the mall owners/managers about this type of marketing in what is supposed to be an upscale mall!

Okay so I actually just bought mine today. I was with my mom in the mall and a lady at a stand showed me it. I was amazed at how cool it was! It straightened my cowlick which I can NEVER do. And it curled my hair great! So I bought one of course. The lady said it sold for $200 but that just for that day they were only $120. Of course she was lying... obviously... since they are sold online for $60. But anyways, I was extremely disappointed when I got home. It wouldn't curl my hair at all. It worked great straightening it though! But then I got online and watched some videos on how to curl my hair with a flat iron. I was doing it right to begin with, but it just takes a little practice. So... so far I love the straightener. But after reading all of the bad reviews I am a little nervous about it. I guess we will see here in the next few months how it goes. It says it has a 2 year warranty so if my plates melt off or the wire burns like others have then hopefully Cortex will replace it.
I like the product but hate that I bought it in the mall

I am also one of those people with curly thick hard to manage hair. Normally it takes 2 hours to straighten my hair, and this limits it to 30 min! Great for straightening but I cannot curl nor wave my hair. I did exaclty what it told me, searched up videos, EVERYTHING! Does not work. I tried over 50 times, no exaggeration. If you want it just to straighten, I reccommend, but does not curl nor wave.

Yeah, I got mine at the mall too, but mine was the Platinum edition one, so I wasn't entirely ripped off.
Anyhow, I have curly, REALLY frizzy, poofy and coarse hair.
Yeah, everyone says they have thick hair, but just read this. You know how much hair the average person has when it's dry, right? Well thats how much and how big my hair is when SOAKING WET. So when it dries, it is (honestly, my hairdresser tells me this too) at least 6 inches away from my head, and I have enough hair for 7 people minimum.
Uh-huh.
So when I was walking around the mall with my mom, this lady at a stand stops us to ask my mom about her hair. My mom says: "I don't have a problem, but my daughter does!" and she drags me over to show my big head of beastly hair. The lady claims that she can straighten it in just one pass, which, coming from someone who is used to spending 3 hours on her hair, is totally impossible.
Anyhow, I sat down in the chair, and she pulls the iron out. I was totally amazed at what happened next. She pulled it through once, and my hair was smooth, sleek and bone-straight! I had to buy the iron! THe lady said its $245 and I was like WOW! But then she ended up giving it to us for $180.
Whatever though. I mean, it works great, and it's cute. And for someone with hair like me, its WELL worth the price. As well, I straightened my hair during one of the worst winter storms here in Toronto (the Snowageddon as everyone was calling it) and it's still pin-straight. I didn't re-straighten it or anything.

I have been using professional flat irons for over 8 years.
I have used babyliss, Chi, Paul brown and others.
I recently purchased the Cortex mostly because its small and compact for traveling.
I have been thrilled with the results that it gives me.
It leaves my long curly hair, smooth and straight.
I would highly recommend this product but please dont be fooled by the Kiosks in the malls selling these for over a$100, I bought mine from Winners, for $34, I love this product so much I just bought my 2 nieces each one for Christmas.
Anyone else with this problem?

I have yet to find another person who has spent a lot of money on this product and have had their hair... burnt completely? I bought this straightner the last week of august for styling purposes. I had used it for the first time, for a curling style intended for a party. The next day when i washed my hair it smelled absolutely disgusting, the smell was extremely strong and I'm pretty sure it was burnt. I used protective creams on my hair before the styling and was surprised to find that my hair from that day forward is completely straight. My natural hair is extremely curly, but not it is straight, even when i curl it the curls don't last long and fade to straight hair. No matter what i do my hair stays straight, I was/am absolutely furious with the product, i cannot return it for a refund, and the company has no contact means. I do not recommend the cheap no-real name brand product, it is a waste of money and useless. I have not used this straightener since i the day it killed * my hair.

i go to all of these websites looking it up and i get mixed reviews people saying it sucks and people saying it rocks. I have only had it for about a week but i used it on my friends thick hair and my thin hair and it worked. i do advise u not to buy it from the mall like i did cause it's way too expensive there, u can get it cheaper else where, and the warranty is fake. i cant figure out how to curl yet but that takes time. Hope it helps!

Regardless of what anyone says, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE MOST AMAZING STRAIGHTENER/ CURLER EVER!!!! I have had mine for over 2 years and it is GREAT! I bought mine in Toronto, Canada and the girls at the booth sho sold it to me were really nice!!! If you have had trouble, you should go and get it exchanged. For those of you who want a refund after you have caused the straightener damage, you can hardly expect the person at the stands whom you bought it from to do anything. It clearly says on the product that it is final and that there is a ONE YEAR MANUFACTURER's WARRANTY. Read ANY hair straightener warranty slip and it will say the same. No place EVER covers physical damage. If you are too stupid to know how to handle and properly place away a hair straightener, you should have never purchased one in the first place. THESE ARE PROFESSIONAL IRONS. Most CHI models are not even pure ceramic! CORTEX ARE 100% solid ceramic plates. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BEST BEST HAIR STRAIGHTENER, and if used properly will last and last!

I got my Pink one at the Mall in Fl. I too paid 110 dollars for mine. I did get a Brush and some kind of hair cream with mine. well they told me it had a lifetime warranty and i could get it replaced. Well now they won't replace it. Look at photos to see what mine did. I could have gotten seriously hurt.

I bought the same straightner, but in black. It lasted me a good two months. I recently droped it accidently, I went back to the place I got it from and the sales lady told me that they could not return it because they were not CORTEX anymore and that the reason the CORTEX straigtners were no longer on sale was because people came back with complains. The straightner made my hair even more damaged than it was before. I personaly would really like my CHI straightner back. Everyone tells me that the PINK CHI is a lot better than the black one.

I am so impressed with this flat iron! I have spent over 200.00 on the same type of flat irons and to believe I bought this at Marshall's dept store for 29.99!!! Yes!! you heard right!!! $29.99!!!! Don't pay more than 50.00 for this product. I bought the Orange flat iron and it's amazing!!! :)
