I was thrilled to find this steam curler. They made one years and years ago with a little itty bitty water cap, but it was such an advance for people like me with curly hair that sometimes will not curl. I've been trying different products all this time and now I have found the same basic idea except a lot better. The water cap is large and the curler just steams without my having to do anything additional. Not sure if this would work for people with straight hair, but it's the best shot they've got, I think.
