Does a great job but needs replacing often

This is my 3rd Caruso in about 6 years. 2 years seems to be the max use even when following the use and care guide. It doesn't dry out my colored hair and it does everything the ads and description say it can do. I just wish it lasted longer. I have a set of Clairol hot curlers from high school (40 years ago) that I use until my replacement Caruso arrives. Even offering a replacement unit without having to buy the curlers would be a better option if they can't iron out the problem.

Foam Replacement

when the foam in my rollers started getting a little ratty, i started to mess around with the roller itself. i was not about to buy a new kit or pay $12 for 6 replacement rollers. i discovered that one end of the roller unscrews (i have the red rollers with pink foam) and the foam slides off. well guess what? i bought a set of cheapo sponge rollers, removed the sponges, slipped them onto my caruso curlers, and screwed the ends back on. the new sponges are a little fatter, so i just wind my hair a little tighter. for $3 i replaced all the sponges on caruso curlers. yay!

Replacing roller sponges

You don't have to buy new rollers when the roller sponges wear out, just purchase the comparable size in a regular sponge roller that you can buy nearly anywhere. You can remove the ends from the caruso roller, and slip the new sponge on. Ta dah! You're good to go for months. Also if you can purchase a unit that uses salt it will more than likely last longer. I don't know why but the newer models wear out very quickly.

Curling long straight hair
submitted by: Linda Howard, Thu Jun 02 2005

Put your hair in a ponytail at the top of your head. Section ponytail into 6 sections. Using the medium size rollers, roll one section on each side, then one section rolled to the front and one rolled to the back. Then roll one to each side on top of the first two rollers. Let set for 30 min., unwind rollers, take hair out of ponytail and finger comb (do not brush or comb)then spray your hair. It will last all day and night. Great way to curl kids hair.
