Product Rating: 5 Caruso Hair Setter

I love this product! I still use it, the curls hold like no other hair setter on the market! I bought it in 1993, still must use the salt. I will replace it, if it ever dies! I recommend this product for anyone that has the desire for long lasting curls. I can be rather tight when you first take the curlers out. With practice you'll figure out how long to leave them in to get the desired look!

Product Rating: 5 Loved my old , and bought a new one

Bought my first Caruso Happy Steamer over 12 years ago; BAck in the days, you added salt. The curlers finally deteriorated. Love the new one; compact, no salt needed, and love the 30 curler set. If you want to change looks, the variety is great. It's fast; by the time you're done your makeup, it's time to take the curlers out.

I Bouught my first setter while still in High school off TV. I have bought rollers once and received the travel size for a gift from my soon to be Father -in Law because I kept bringing my regular set over. I get complements ever time I use it and it's the only thing that works on my fine Hair. I grauated in 1990 if that tells you how long I have used this set. I do Wish the roller foam the use for the red ones lasted better but the gray foam seems to work better.

Product Rating: 2 Could be Great...
Reviewer: Rose from San Francisco, CA  Wed Aug 24 2005

...if and when it does work. Purchased first hairsetter a few years ago---but heating unit blew out in about 3 months, only getting in 4-5 total uses. Sent it in for repair/replacement...I use #2 setter occasionally now,to perhaps lengthen it's longevity. Sometimes it steams profusely, sometimes very little to none.

Curls really nice & beautiful at first, but only last a few hours--no matter how long curlers are left in/or regardless what kind of styling-aid products used...I agree with other reviewers that the foam does not last. Are they really made to or is this so to bind those die-hard users to keep buying more roller sets?...Wish they could continue to develop the product a bit further to ensure and create a sturdier unit, longer-lasting curls, more durable foam. Then I'd be a convert!

Product Rating: 4 Worked great...when it worked
Reviewer: Regina   Mon Aug 22 2005

As I write this review, my Caruso is not working. I think I used it 5 times. That is very disappointing. If the return/replacement process goes smoothly, I will be satisfied but I am stumped as to why it is already not working. Saying that, when I did use it, I really liked it, which is why I am willing to give it another try.

Product Rating: 5 Caruso Hairsetter
Reviewer: Dottie from St. Louis, MO  Tue Aug 02 2005

There is nothing...absolutely nothing else that will hold a curl with my straight limp hair. I've had two perms this year and I have barely a wave pattern. But with the Caruso hairsetter I have full, bouncy curly hair. I use the petite curlers and do a spiral set. Plus it stays all day in midwest humidity. The statement that it holds curls for days is a bit of a stretch...if I sleep on the style, I wake up with just a few waves left. I do think the old unit I had that used salt left me with stronger curls. Back with that unit, I had no perm in my hair and it DID hold my style overnight. I woke up with my hair looking like it did when I went to bed. --- If anybody has limp, straight, hard-to-curl hair, I'd recommend this product.

Product Rating: 5 too good to be true
Reviewer: Terri   Mon Aug 01 2005

Hitting an age where youth is fleeting and ones hair no longer reacts to perms ect left me wondering what am I to do with this limp luster hair. I remembered years ago hearing about the Caruso setter and thought why not give it a try. I have had constand perms for the last 20plus years and was not looking forward to limp, lifeless hair now that my hair no longer would "perm". The setter is wonderful, so easy to use and the set stays in place! I use it daily and from start to finish I'm done in 20 minutes. I highly recommend it!

Product Rating: 5 The only thing that works
Reviewer: Soon-to-be-Mrs.   Sat Jul 16 2005

I have been trying for years to curl my hair. I've bought hot rollers of all brands and prices, and they've never worked. I'm getting married and I want long, curly hair. A friend told me about her Caruso curlers and I tried them. WOW! I went out and bought a set the very next day. It's amazing how beautiful the curls look. I've never had curly hair before! And it lasts all day.

Product Rating: 2 Curls Just Don't Hold
Reviewer: Jane Doe   Tue Jul 12 2005

I purchased the product because everyone raved about how long the curls last, but my curls wither by the time I am ready to leave the house in the morning, forget lasting all day.

Product Rating: 4 Good but not Great
Reviewer: Rox from Oregon  Mon Jun 20 2005

I owned a Caruso when they first came out. I loved what it did for my hair (I have always had thin straight hair) back then. The old setter gave me lots of curls that lasted at least 8 hours. The new one that I just bought gives me curls that last a couple of hours and then just end up being slight waves and a bit of body. This might be that my hair has changed (I had a baby and my hair got thinner) or perhaps the products that I use (who knows what I used back then). The unit itself works great (lots of steam). The foam curlers seem different in that they are stiffer and don't seem to hold as much steam as I remember. But I am happy with the body and wave I do get as every little bit helps.

Product Rating: 1 The new heating elements don't work
Reviewer: Michelle from Dallas, Texas  Wed Jun 01 2005

I have purchased 3 sets of the new Caruso Curlers in the past year and none of them is currently working. I had the original Caruso heating element for nearly 10 years when it finally gave out on me. Since then, each one of the sets I have ordered has burned up or shorted out on me after only 5 or so uses. I have spent nearly $100 to have this curling set. I love the way they make my hair look but I am SO frustrated with their failure to work everytime I go to plug them in. When I contacted the manufacturer I was told they would not refund my money but that if I shipped it back to them they would repair them for me. That is just more money that I have to spend. And since it has been at least a year since I purchased them I seriously doubt that the store I bought them from will give me my money back. I am extremely disappointed and would love to find out a way to fix this problem.

I have been using the Caruso for atleast 10 years now. It is wonderful!!! Best thing ever invented for females. It doesn't burn your hair. Keeps it shiney and smooth. Its very easy to use. My hair is to the middle of my back and this product holds my curls all day.

Product Rating: 5 Awesome Product!!
Reviewer: Laura from Canada  Thu May 26 2005

This is the best roller system I have ever used! My hair never used to hold a curl and then I tried the Caruso curls and they last for 2 days! My hair doesn't get dry either because these rollers put moisture back into your hair. The curls are soft, flexible and LAST!! They are a MUST!!

This new version of the Caruso Hair Setter is not as good as the Hair Setter which took salt to make the steam. The hold is weak and does not last as long.

I have been using this product for the last 15 years. the first one I had you did have to add salt! I have gone from long hair to short and back again, the curls do stay in. No split ends or dried out hair. My hair remains healthy and shiny. I would highly reccomend this prodcut

It is very kind to my hair and I can always count on it to make the kind of soft curls I really like.
I have one for travel and am ordering a replacement for home.

This is a great product. I had one that was very old and was afraid the curlers were going to crumble, but they didn't. Instead of buying more curlers, I decided to purchse an entirely new hairsetter. A curling iron won't curl my hair, but the Caruso hairsetter does.

Product Rating: 4 Good for heavy,, thick hair
Reviewer: Sarah's Mom   Wed Feb 02 2005

My daughter was wanting to use electric curlers and I had not used them in years. Her hair is very thick and was difficult to roll onto the heavy, old fashioned curlers. I found the sponge center much easier to use. We did her hair with them for a school dance and she looked beautiful! For her use, we needed more of the smaller rollers than what was included, as her hair weighs down the larger curlers and doesn't keep the curl. Other than that, they worked well. I am a little concerned about getting replacement sponges as I did not see them on the reorder sheet, and they would be something that would need replacing?

I bought this hairsetter ten years ago and it is the only way I can get my poker straight hair to have any curl. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants body or curl. It takes less than 4 minutes to roll (I have medium length hair) and about 5-10 min to
let it set. This is a wonderful product.

Product Rating: 4 Curler foam effectiveness varies widely
Reviewer: Tish Varney from Colorado  Sun Jan 30 2005

The molecular curler concept works great and my hair curled well. However, the foam on my first Caruso hairsetter began disintegrating as soon as I had used it a month. Some of the clips would not hold the roller tightly enough. Now I have a a SalonPro with red curlers and a different kind of foam. This material does not curl the hair as well and after several hours, the hair is relaxing considerably more. The clips are effective, tho. Any suggestions?
