Product Rating: 2 2nd try and still not for me

Customer Image 1:

I had bought this product before, in the early 90's I believe. Well, I gave up on that product then...I'm not sure why I thought it would be much different now. As far as curling the hair and the curl lasting it does work, but the machine itself is very inconsistent. My machine worked good the first few times and now the steam is just not working. I might be the odd one out here so who knows, it might work for you. But for me, I think I'm going back to my velvet rollers!

"May I complain that Caruso should supply the "Comb Clips", with the small and petite rollers especially since they will probably be used by people with short hair. And these Comb clips should be available to purchase as a separate item, at least. Very difficult to use on short hair without the hair clips. I am very disappointed with the Caruso product."

Product Rating: 5 curls for David
Reviewer: stephanie   Sat Apr 05 2008

My son has long hair with highlights, David is 15. I always try helping him with his hair. After several conversations about curling his hair, he said yes. I heated up my caruso steam curlers and set his hair. When I took his curlers out he had the softest, prettiest curls. He couldn't believe how good his hair looked in curls. He is still getting up his confidence as where he goes in curls, but I usually end up setting his hair 2 to 3 times a week. He love the comments the girls give him. Wish more guys would try it.

Product Rating: 5 This is THE BEST
Reviewer: Joyce Lorraine from Rochester, New York  Thu Apr 03 2008

I have used these for YEARS infact I have even purchased an extra one so that if something does happen to my set I have a back up. The steam does not burn my hair like the regular hot rollers. and I have used it with Short Hair and with Long hair and I can not say enough about this product
My only wish is that I could purchase just the steamer without the rollers .

Product Rating: 5 Caruso Hairsetter
Reviewer: Grace from Savannah, Ga.  Mon Mar 10 2008

I have been using the Caruso steam hairsetter at least 15 years or more. I always keep an extra on hand for the times when the one I am using burns out. I used to try to use the "heat" curlers and 3 to 5 minutes after I took them out my hair looked as if I had not even bothered to roll it. I have very thick, very straight hair, in which perms do not take hold. But my Caruso steam hairsetter makes my hair look as if I either have natural curly hair or a great perm. People are always asking where I get my hair done and I tell them about the Caruso. I could not survive without them.

I have used this product for years and find that it is the best and quickest way to quick-set your hair without any damage.

Product Rating: 5 SATISFIED user!!
Reviewer: SATISFIED from NORTH CAROLINA  Fri Dec 07 2007

I've had the Caruso curling product so long, I can't even begin to guess. Ordered the first one from Woman's Day or Family Circle for something like $60.00, and after a few years, it became available in stores. I was so afraid the old one would quit and leave me stranded that I bought another set, just to have "on hand" and yet years later, I've been throught several sets of replacement rollers and that first steamer is STILL WORKING! I need some more rollers and plan to place an order soon!

I've read some of these reviews, and Im glad I'm not one of those poor saps! I have used my hairsetter everyday and have had great results. I take care of the products I buy so maybe thats why mine has lasted.

I have used this product for about 15 years, and I love it. My unit just finally died, and I got a new one. This is the best. I'm not a moring person, so when I do my hair I can't be wasting a lot of time. I can set my hair and have it ready to take out in 10 minutes. The curl will stay in all day. Can't live without it.

Product Rating: 5 problem w/ last purchase
Reviewer: Pat Gordon from San Jose, California  Wed Oct 17 2007

I love this product, make no mistake. I have used it for years and my hair is healthy and remains undamaged even though I have used this product for more than 20 years. I recently ordered a travel set because my steam element finally went dead after at least a decade. Well this steam element is already kaput. I have to order another, and I am wondering...has the quality gone kaput too? I am hoping it is just a fluke and the next one I receive will work for at least a year!!!

Product Rating: 1 Great ... while it works :(
Reviewer: jamie from California  Thu Oct 04 2007

I just lost my third one today to malfunction. It's as if the product is designed to only last one year. I hate hot irons but they LAST !!! Do I want to spend another $30 bucks on yet another Caruso. And what am I supposed to do with all these curlers now? I must have least a hundred by now since I can't by the steamer unit without all the curlers. Any suggestions out there for a different brand of steam curler?

I am very disappointed with this product because it did not steam up although the unit got hot the first time I used it. I have read reviews about this problem but went ahead to buy it anyway. Folica was nice to refer me to the manufacturer who said I could send back the product in exchange for a new one. However, I did not do so since it is really troublesome for me to do it. It could be I got a malfunction product thta did not work and this may not be so for other units. Anyway, I will not buy it again.

After 6 weeks of steaming up wavy body on my medium-long length, Asian hair, it went capoot. While steaming, it let off an acidic pfft and died. All instructions, maintenance recommendations, and trouble-shooting were followed. It lacks a warranty. Just a parts replacemnt order form and product registration (for what?)is offered. Past the point of "no return" with usage and/or after 30 days of purchase. Whatta' deal! No thanks, Caruso. What's the matta' you? My 1993 true blue steam unit lasted 10 years!

I have been using caruso rollers for over 10 years! I have very fine hair. These are the only rollers that keep my curls all day! I know it takes a little practice at first, but I can roll my hair with my eyes closed. I get compliments all the time asking me if it's natural curl! If they ever are in danger of going out of production, I will need to buy enough for the rest of my life!

Product Rating: 3 Works OK, but only lasts 1 year
Reviewer: Debbie from Lake Ariel, PA  Thu Jul 19 2007

This product works as advertised. Easy to use and convenient. But this is the 3rd one I've purchased in 3 years. Burns out at one year with daily use. Would be nice if different size rollers were color coded.

THIS PRODUCT IS GOOD; BUT TOO MANY SMALL ROLLERS WHICH ARE USELESS TO ME. THERE SHOULD BE MORE MEDIUM SIZE CURLERS; AND I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO SPEND MORE MONEY TO MAKE THIS PRODUCT WORK FOR ME.

This steam hairsetter is great. I bought mine at Big Lotts for seven dollars and I love it. I have had short and long hair i have had this for years and Im planning to buy one for my mom. I put my curlers in and by the time I put on my makeup they are ready to come out, which is about ten minutes. I have use this for many weddings and other special events. If mine does'nt steam I just put a pinch of salt in it and it steams away. Im so glad I found you still sale this product. It is also small enough to travel with.

My husband has long beautiful hair. I started using the caruso rollers on his hair about a year ago when he had a job interview. Neither of use could believe how great his hair curled plus he loved his new look. If we are going somewhere special I still set his hair for him. We both have our own sets of caruso curlers. He uses his daily for work, he will not leave the house without his hair curled. He also loves the different style I can put his hair in. I love seeing a man with long hair who cares about his hair and loves wearing it curled. We always get compliments on his curls. Glad to see other reviews about guys and curls keep up the good work. Product Rating: 5 Excellent if it lasts!
Reviewer: anonymous from West Palm Beach, FL  Wed Mar 21 2007

I love the steam hairsetter-the first one I bought at a garage sale for $7.00 (the old kind that you added salt to)-it lasted for years-in fact it is probably still working but it looked grungy so I decided to throw it away & buy myself a new one-since then-probably a year or so ago I have had to replace it 2-3 times-I am on my 3rd now & if I could find anything else that would achieve the same effect I would buy it because obviously they are no longer built to last-but while it works my hair looks great.

Product Rating: 5 Great for your hair
Reviewer: Laura from Mesquite, TX  Mon Mar 12 2007

I have used the Caruso Hair setter for many years - I will not ever use anything else... My hair is fine and would damage easily and not hold curl with regular irons and curlers. I recieved The steam rollers as a gift and right away noticed the better longer lasting curls and over a few months I noticed my hair was healthier and looked better than it had in years. I will never go back to "hot" rollers again!!!
This is the second time I have ordered from this website, my last set lasted a year but, it is worth it to me - even if I have to replace these every year it is well worth it... Highly reccommend this product!!!!
