2nd try and still not for me

I had bought this product before, in the early 90's I believe. Well, I gave up on that product then...I'm not sure why I thought it would be much different now. As far as curling the hair and the curl lasting it does work, but the machine itself is very inconsistent. My machine worked good the first few times and now the steam is just not working. I might be the odd one out here so who knows, it might work for you. But for me, I think I'm going back to my velvet rollers!

"May I complain that Caruso should supply the "Comb Clips", with the small and petite rollers especially since they will probably be used by people with short hair. And these Comb clips should be available to purchase as a separate item, at least. Very difficult to use on short hair without the hair clips. I am very disappointed with the Caruso product."
Great for my hair, just not for Foriegn countries

This product says it will adjust to 240V, but that is not true. In fact, in certain parts of the world, even with a converter, it will not work. Wish they would make one for 240V only so I could travel over seas with it.
love the results/Hate the product!!

I have fine hair, I love the curl I get from my steam rollers but I absolutely HATE the product itself. I have bought 3 sets in the last 8 months - I refuse to do it again. The rollers fall apart - I have had to piece them together,I bought extra in the small rollers at an outrageous price (they probably cost the company a penny per hundred) they charge about $15 for six of the rollers. The machine itself goes out in a matter of months. I am surprised that a company like CARUSO would make such a inferior product! Shame on you, Caruso! I for one am done with your product for good!

When I first found out about the Caruso steam setter 15 years ago, I was thrilled. It was the best steam product ever and the first one I bought lasted me for a good 5 years (this was the pink coloured one where salt had to be added to the water). I recently bought the newer Caruso product and I am so disappointed it's gone kaput in less than a year. What has happened to the quality? Is the manufacturer even listening to all our complaints? I am hesistant to buy another one especially after reading all the other reviews. Any suggestions for other reliable steam hairsetters?
Prefered the older model

I have owned both the old model which required salt and the new one that does not require salt.
My blond hair is fine, and there's lots of it. It ranges from almost straight at the crown, to curly on the sides, to frizzy at my temples.
The old model did a lot better job of taming the frizz. After years and years of wonderful service, the salt finally rusted the heating element in half and it died. The new model doesn't seem to produce as much steam, doesn't get the rollers as steamy or hot as it's older brother, so it's a lot of work for less than great results.
Same boat....great when it works

I too have used the Caruso system for more than 20 years. It seems lately that the product is going kaput after a VERY short period of time. I have gone through two units in less than six months. I'm currently using the rollers with an old steam unit that may be from the 1970's....but it's working. WHY WON'T CARUSO SELL THE STEAM UNIT WITHOUT THE ROLLERS??? I also question if the "quietness" of the unit is such a good idea ... the "clicking" noise used to remind me..."Turn off this unit!!". I'm debating about ordering another one...Four times bitten, getting shy.
Poor Quality

I have used these rollers for 20 years. The first one probably lasted me 5 years before I had to replace it. The second lasted 2 years, the 3rd - 1 year.... now the latest one lasted me 2 months. I love these rollers, they are the only rollers that work on my fine hair, but if I have to replace it every month now it will be just too expensive!
DO NOT ORDER FROM CANADA

DO NOT ORDER THIS FROM CANADA. I PURCHASED THESE ROLLERS FOR $40USD AND WAS CHARGED $90CAD... THE ROLLERS WERE REDUCED TO $30 THE FOLLOWING WEEK, AND I WAS CHARGED $30 FOR SHIPPING!!!! NOT WORTH IT. ...THE ROLLERS WORK WELL, BUT FOR THIS MONEY YOU COULD PAY FOR HALF OF A GHD FLATIRON!!

I have been using curso steam system since it first came out and I loved it the caruso lasted me years and then it changed to no more salt which was okay that one lasted me a while,I think several months. Now in the past two years I have had to buy one almost every month. I wish I had saved all my receipts for all the caruso systems I have bought in the last two years. I just bought another one in March and here it is April and it already died. I am not doing anything different than before they just die. I work in a manufacturing company and I know when quantity is replacing quality. I wish you would go back to making a better product like before. Unsatisfied costumer

The same has happened to me when I bought a new one a couple years ago, it lasted for a few months, then I bought another that lasted maybe 8 months. Then I found a Vidal Sassoon Ionic Setter that is very similar to the Caruso but it lasts and lasts, so the Quality is great with the Vidal Sassoon type. I am so happy mine has lasted this long and is still going, but I'm going to buy a 2nd one because I don't ever want to do without a hair steamer. Maybe the one I've got will last forever, I don't know, but so far so good with the Vidal Sassoon!

I have been using this product for over seven years, and loved the product until about 2 years ago. I agree with everyone that said that the newer product is lacking in quality and longevity. I purchased 3 over the past 1 1/2 years, and all 3 have stopped working in less than 6 months. This product is excellent on thin hair, when it works. Wish the manufacturer work improve this product.
Me, too....no thanks, Caruso

Same with me......two new units in six months, neither one lasted. The rollers are fine, the steam unit quits. Not worth the money. What happened here?? My first unit was great and lasted forever. Also, pinch open claw clips would work better than the cap type. I have both and the claw clips don't leave marks in your hair.
Curling my son's hair

My teenaged son & I have been at each other for years over his long, ratty hair. I finally made a deal with him : let me style it for a week and if you don't like it I'll shut up about it. I tried a couple of different methods before settling on the Caruso rollers. He likes the bounce and wave they gave him without looking too "done," I like the fact that it's out of his face and looks nice & styled. I also got him started wearing a headband after his hair's curled. The ease of the Caruso curlers means I can do his hair in the morning in 20 mins. Now I roll his hair almost every day, or put it up in a ponytail, and last week I got him a set of his own. The service from Folica was great -- thank you for a product that has saved my relationship with my son!

I have to agree with most everyone else. I wish there was a better steam product that didn't break down so easily/quickly. I LOVE the way it works with my very thick hair. The curls hold up btw washings and depending on the size of the curler and how long I leave it in, I can get a lot of different looks. I have been coloring my hair for over 40 years and I like that it does not damage it further. I would also to see the unit sold separately from the curlers. I could open a curler store - just want the unit. So--- it works GREAT when it works.
The old Caruso setter

I bought the first original Caruso setter back in 1991 and I still use it! It is pink and you have to put salt in it. I can believe it is held out this many years. I really have considered purchasing the travel one because the regular is too big for travel but the reviews about the newer models bother me. Either way, the Caruso set is the best for your hair. I get the results I want every time and the curls last!!!

When I was in high school I loved using the Caruso Hairsetter. Many years later having grown my hair long again I wanted to use them again...unfortunately my original hairsetter was MIA. I just purchased the travel set along with additional jumbo sized rollers to straighten my wavy shoulder length hair. I still love Caruso rollers. They leave your hair soft. They don't pull on your hair like other hairsetters do and the clips are easy to use and keep the roller in place. I'm so happy I've made this purchase.

I have used this product in the past with satisfactory results, so I purchased a new setter on March 9, 2008, and it has already stopped working. I think the maker has stopped caring about the quality. Too bad.
curls for David

My son has long hair with highlights, David is 15. I always try helping him with his hair. After several conversations about curling his hair, he said yes. I heated up my caruso steam curlers and set his hair. When I took his curlers out he had the softest, prettiest curls. He couldn't believe how good his hair looked in curls. He is still getting up his confidence as where he goes in curls, but I usually end up setting his hair 2 to 3 times a week. He love the comments the girls give him. Wish more guys would try it.

I have used these for YEARS infact I have even purchased an extra one so that if something does happen to my set I have a back up. The steam does not burn my hair like the regular hot rollers. and I have used it with Short Hair and with Long hair and I can not say enough about this product
My only wish is that I could purchase just the steamer without the rollers .
