For those of you who found your unit did not last, USE DISTILLED WATER! That is the way to go with the new unit that does not use salt.

If you use tap water in the unit, the instruction booklet (if you can find where you might have put it) tells us to steam with vinegar water to clear out hard water mineral deposits - but by the time I should have done so, the unit was gone.

I leave my rollers in while I eat breakfast, and the result is always good. YES!!! Why can't we just buy new foam for the rollers??? The foam wears out way too soon!

I had the orginal richard caruso hair setter and it was awesome then. After having it for a decade or so it finally bit the dust (must admit it survived quite a bit through the years, it was durable and reliable). I now have this one and its even better than the orignal, no salt is needed, its easy to clean, and the curls I get with it are remarkable. It would normally take me about 45 minutes to do my hair but with this it takes barely 15 minutes. It has saved me alot of time and made my life alot easier in the mornings, which is just what I need since Im a full time student and single mom. Thank you soo much for a wonderful product and a great customer support.

I really like the Caruso steamsetters in general, but they do have some problems...This is the third unit I've had to buy in two years, so the longevity isn't too great...and the foam on the rollers fall apart really quickly! I don't know why we can't buy replacement foams, which would make more sense than having to spend $12 on six little plastic rollers. However, the curler works beautifully on fine hair, so I will continue to use it in spite of all this!

I had a Caruso Steam Curler about 10 years ago in college and loved it! It eventually wore out several years later and I thought the company stopped making them. But I finally found it here at Folica.com and within a few days, I had my springy curls back! I can set my whole head in curlers in less than 30 minutes - a big time saver before leaving the house for work. The curls last all day and continue to give my hair bounce and shine into the next day. No more fuss with hair dryers, round brushes and ceramic curling irons! Steam curling is the only way to make it last!

I love it! My hair is straight with no body. I have used the rollers everyday since I got them. My hair feels so healthy and has as much body as I want each day now.

Reviewer: Joan from NC  Fri Dec 10 2004

I bought the old salty one over 10 years ago, and it worked great. I spilled salt all over and ruined the curlers, so I bought this new version which does not work very well at all. It creates very limp waves compared to the nice curls I once got. Unfortunately I threw out the old version in anticpation of this great new ionic technology which is probably a bunch of hooey. Is this ionic technology a big sales gimick?????

I have used the Caruso Hairsetting system for about 15 years and would not be without it. It is the only system that I have found the will hold a curl in my hair for more than a few hours. Although, I did seem to get a longer lasting curl with the older system that used salt and I know that the system itself lasted longer.

Reviewer: Amber from Ardmore  Sat Nov 06 2004

I was looking for some new rollers and found some info online about these, and did alot of research on them before I bought them, I had heard so many good things about them as soon as I got home I tried them. I put them in which wasn't hard then waited the 15 minutes, and I was not happy. The rollers i put on top the covers left lines in my hair and even using the jumbo they did not geive any volume at all. They did curl fine, but it did not last all day. It was not worth the 50 bucks I paid and would take back if I could find the receipt.

I have used this product for many years but have one complaint. The unit only lasts approx. 12 months before giving out. The old system lasted for several years....can't this be fixed? It is a great styling tool otherwise.
Since we can't buy this in Canada it is expensive shipping from the U.S. and while in the States I have checked numerous stores and can't find any.

Reviewer: Beulah from california  Mon Oct 18 2004

Years ago I purchased the Caruso from a TV add.
This model used salt as a conductor and it put out tons of steam and really curled hair well. I was really concerned about the constent flickering of the lights in my home though, and I think thats why they no longer use the salt. I bought another one that did not use sale and it puts out virtually zero steam and makes limp curls. I believe the reviewers that had good resutls used the older models. Did anyone really use this current model? If you want to give this new one a try be sure to keep the recept for a refund if you are not happy with it.

This product really works and does not damage the hair. It literally curls any type of hair in just seconds and stays like that until you wash your hair.

Reviewer: Wendyd from Knoxville, Tn  Tue Oct 12 2004

I have used this type of hairsetter for over 12 years and it is the best product for quick and easy curls. It takes me ten minutes tops to fix my hair in the morrning. The curls usually last for about ten hours. It's a great
product.

Reviewer: Lindsay Lohan from Los Angeles  Tue Oct 05 2004

what made me buy this particular hair setter was the rave reviews. everyone seems to like this product! so i try it, and my hair looks seriously fabulous and naturally wavy/curly the way i wanted it...for only a half an hour. the kit says it lasts DAYS. but i have to say, for the half an hour it DID last, it looked AWESOME. too bad it didn't stay in a little longer. and also, the instructions say to leave the rollers in for about 15 minutes before taking them out, and some sections of my hair were still straight when i did! i wouldn't necessarily recommend this. it's definitely average. not worth the price to me.

I am so glad I found you again. I have had a Richard Caruso Curler for years. I ordered it off of a TV infomercial some years ago. I tell this is the only thing I have ever ordered off TV that did exactly as it was advertised. I have been so pleased with the product that I am still using it today. My curlers barely have foam still on them but I refuse to stop using them. They still do wonders for my hair. It's everything you said it is and does everything you said it would do. I have been looking in stores for years for the curlers but nobody carries them and I didn't even think about lookin on the internet until my sister saw how desperate I was still using the curlers with hardly any foam on them that she suggested that I try to find you on the internet. I am so glad I did and I have ordered some more curlers. Hope it works with the Caruso set that I already have. Thank you for creating the best hair styling product in the world.

Product Rating: 5 Best one yet!
Reviewer: Judy from Illinois  Mon Sep 20 2004

I've used the Caruso hairsetters for quite a few years now. Originally they were made great, then they cheapened them so that the last two I bought (before this Ion model) were a disappointment. Debris would flake off the element inside the unit, and they would start to clog and the steam would diminish. This Ion unit is built like the original I could tell right away. It steams better and faster and it works great. Definitely worth the price.

Product Rating: 5 still use it to this day!

i've had this hair setter since i was in grade school.. i graduated college a couple years ago..and i STILL use caruso! it's actually works better on my hair than any other hair setter, let alone hair salon! curls stay in for more than enough hours. plus, it doesnt do too much damage! easy to set up, use, and lock away when done.

Product Rating: 5 Thank you for making my mother happy.
Reviewer: Darla   Mon Aug 09 2004

My mother has been searching for this item in stores for a while now. Her old one burnt out. She is an elderly woman and doesn't know much about the internet so I thought I would search online for her. She is so happy to have her Caruso curler system coming to her. I can't express how excited she is because this is the one thing that works well on her hair without damaging it. Thank you for making my mother happy.

Product Rating: 3 Nice Concept BUT not for African American Hair
Reviewer: Lizzie from Philadelphia, PA  Sun Jul 18 2004

15 years ago I bought the Caruso Molecular Steam hair setter thiking that because of the harsh chemicals used to straighten my hair I could use steam instead of heating methods to ease the strain on my hair. My hair is very course and thick. When my hair is first processed it's fragile. While the steam kept my hair soft it dried out my ends. This is even with a hair cut and pulling the roller from root to end. Also, as your hair grows to the end of it's 6 week cycle you hair seems to curl tighter. Still soft but making it kinky and wavy. Not what you want when you just want straight hair. All and all it never ruined my hair it just didn't achieve the look I was going for and gave me too tight shirley temple curls even with the big rollers. I can say the steamer lasted me VERY long and is very well made. I actually still have it and only use it now as a facial steamer (that was the original added selling point) and I must say it is one of the best facial steamers around. This steamer is better for people who have Caucasian type hair.

Product Rating: 5 Still Love It
Reviewer: Diane Crumpacker from Stockton, California  Mon Jun 28 2004

I am so pleased with my Caruso Molecular Hairsetter. I have had the system now for over ten years, and I still love it. I have tried other hair curling systems, but nothing I've tried compares to the Caruso Molecular Rollers. It takes me less then ten minutes to set my hair, and the unique steam system always leaves my hair soft and manageable.

I recently ordered more Caruso rollers on line through your company and was very impressed by your Customer Service Department. I ordered the wrong sized rollers, but your Staff was professional, courteous, and helped me through my confusion. It is such a pleasure to work with such a fine company.

Sincerely

Diane Crumpacker
