I have had my old (round unit) Caruso Molecular steam hair setter for years. It's my secret weapon for having "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" hair. I usually have to wash and style my super-straight, baby-fine hair every day, but with the Caruso, I can get rock star gorgeous hair in ten minutes and the volume and curls last at least three days from one styling. If you don't have one, get one NOW!
Good but could be better...

I really like the Caruso Ion Steam roller a lot more than my old steam rollers. However, the old rollers conveniently were color coded per roller size. The Caruso rollers and clips are all red and it takes time to sort out matching pieces. Also, I'd like the steamer better if you could prep more than more roller at time.

Sistahs,
If you have relaxed hair and are trying to keep it damage free....STOP using curling irons and hot rollers! Use the Caruso. The steam is like a spa treatment to our hair. It loves it! Your hair will grow and grow and get plenty of moisture from the Caruso. You'll get curls that last and last! They will be shiny, healthy, smooth curls. I went on a cruise and took this unit with me and everyone in my travel group was amazed by my hair and though the ship's salon did it. You can't go wrong with this ladies. Give it a try.
If you have nappy roots, it will kink them a bit but you still get great results. This unit works best with relaxed hair but helps you to keep it healthy and damage free. It's like therapy for the hair. Natural hair works with it too but you know our hair and water so keep that in mind. Water is like Kryptonite to natural black hair....it does go back somewhat.
Enjoy it girls!

I have used the smaller Caruso steamsetter for years, and couldn't wait to receive and begin using my new one. I ordered the larger model this time and I am so disappointed. The older smaller (round) unit worked so well on my fine, thin hair. It always added so much body, and my hair curled quickly and the curl stayed in much of the day. The new unit doesn't seem to produce as much steam, and the rollers stay wet longer. I have taken the rollers out after 10-15 minutes, and my hair is often times still wet from the steam. Also, the curl does not last even a few hours. This is clearly a different experience from my last Caruso setter. I am thinking about checking with customer service to see if I can return the set, and try a different model.

I discovered the Caruso Curling system totally by accident, a friend of mine bought one so I figured what the heck! At that time my hair was damaged from lightening it or streaking it on an ongoing basis. After several months of using the curling system, I found my hair to healthier and shinier. The curls last all day at work and into the night, I wouldn't use anything but the Caruso system. The only thing I would add to it would be an on off switch (my model is about 5 years old, so that may have already been added) I find myself ordering another kit today.

I have been using the Caruso Hairsetter for years and it is the ONLY hairsetter that has ever worked in my hair. The curl is shiny and lasts for days. About once a year, I think about using something else and buy some other product, curling iron, hot rollers, etc., but the curl lasts for only an hour or so and I immediately go back to my Caruso. I have been using the same one for about the last five years and I also have the first one I bought (using salt). I am so sold on this product that I have recommended it to all my friends. The problem is that I was not able to find it in the state of Oregon.
In January, I married a Baptist minister and moved to a small farming community in Missouri. Being a Pastor's wife, I need to look my best all the time so I have diligently searched for the Caruso Hairsetter.
The moral of my story is I want a new one--my old ones still work fine but I need new rollers so decided I would upgrade to the new model.
Thank you.

I never write reviews but I just had to write for this. My hair is medium length and relaxed. I bought this the other day and I have been in love ever since! I was skeptical at first. I wondered, how can "steam" curl my hair as I was used to curling irons and hot curlers which both damaged my hair. Well, tried this and LOVED it!! I thought I would have had to keep the rollers in long to achieve curl but I left them only for five minutes and I was shocked to see that my had a head full of beautiful bouncy curls. The rollers heat up VERY quickly. I looked like I had just walked out of the salon. I had to keep looking at my hair all night because it didn't seem like my own. I am so happy to have found such a wonderful product. I will NEVER got back to using heat. Who needs it when you have this. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants beautiful hairstyles without damaging heat.

I had an old set that lasted for many years with no problems what so ever. I recently purchased a new travel set and it only lasted for approximately 20 uses. Very disappointed!

I have been using the Caruso steam hairsetters for quite a few years. This is my fourth different type. I like it a lot more than the smaller one I use for travel. Each time I have to get used to the new one as they have each been a little different. This one heats up quickly and does a good job.

I used the Carusos daily for years until they wore out. I found that the steam made my hair healthier and the sets lasted much longer than hot rollers. When I went to buy a new one none of the stores stocked them anymore. Disappointed, I bought hot rollers again and noticed my hair thinning and the sets losing their hold within hours. So, I stopped setting my hair at all.
Then, I found your website with the Caruso line and immediately ordered a Caruso 30 Molecular Ion Steam Hairsetter. My hair health began improving right away and the fullness has returned. My sets are again holding for days. I am so happy to have Caruso back.

I'm starting to gray and so I bleach my hair blonde twice a month. I live in Florida so lots of sun damage to. The
steam rollers act as a beauty treatment on my hair while taming all fly aways. In 20 years I have not found a chemical or product other than this that allosw me to style damage free. Hair looks 20 years younger. My rollers are set in 1 minute as I control the steam aount of moisture to the sponge curler. This speed is great. Thes add a big plus to my lifestyle and self confidence. Thanks Caruso

This is the first time I've used heated rollers of any kind. Recently purchased the Caruso 30 Molecular Ion Steam Hairsetter because I have thin, fine limp hair just to my shoulders (think Ally McBeal) and read the reviews. Have tried it once and will experiment more but was not as wowed as I hoped to be.
The roller covers make otherwise lightweight rollers heavy for my hair. Makes it difficult so may get some clips to use instead of provided roller covers and see if that is easier and if it will produce good results. Used distilled water as others suggested. Unit heated up quickly and clicked away as promised.
Hair does not dry in 15-20 minutes; takes much longer and I don't have thick hair. I did find a foldable nylon hair drying bonnnet that attaches to your hair dryer This was the best way to dry hair in reasonable amount of time.
Did hold fairly well as I was going for volume (jumbo rollers) and didn't use any other hairstyling products. You need to put roller covers on so you don't get weird dents in your hair ... if I had thicker hair without any layers perhaps rollers would have grabbed and flopped around less especially in front. So, my hair type is more of an issue then the hairsetter but would use a drying bonnet if you want to get out the door.
Curl Great/Less damage/longevity poor

I have been using this product for more than 10 years. The curl lasts great and I can vary how it looks just by twisting the hair tighter or looser. I love the compactness of the product ie. takes less space. While you curling the 1st one the 2nd one will be ready when you done. However, the only bad thing I do have to say about it is that the unit just doesn't last long enough. I have gone through 5 in the last 10 years. Not sure how long I should expect to get out of any type. I am glad the product is still on the market though and I will definitly purchase another one. I don't like the hard curlers and the units take up too much room as my bathroom is small.

This product did not produce a curl that I had to shampoo out. I tried it 3 times, varying what I did, to the point of leaving them on for 40 minutes. The curl fell right out.
I am not sure if it is the product or my hair. My hair used to curl from being rolled but will no longer nor will it hold a perm.
So, I can't say it's entirely the product. But it sure didn't work for me.
