Why does it have a chemical smell?

I bought Caruso Professional Setter last week and want to return it back. I do not trust the chemical smell it has. What could that be? They should disclose materials they use to make the product. I'm sure that many people can get over the smell, but how healthy is it for us to inhale the steam?

I think I wrote it all in the "Title Summary"! The hairsetter surprised me, because I was quite apprehensive and afraid of all that steam. But to my surprise my rollerset came out beautiful. My ends were not frizzy and my hair had bounce.
All I can write is GREAT PRODUCT!

I have used the caruso system for years now. Mine has finally stopped working, however, I am desperately looking for another one. I can not live without it, when I am in a hurry, it's the only system that I can literally use in fifteen minutes. That's even styling my hair. I will never use any other curling system again. I highly recommend this product.
Caruso Steam Rollers

I have been using Caruso Steam Rollers for seveal years now with great results. With daily use, the ionic steam rollers do not dry my hair the way electric rollers did in the past. The texture of my hair is fine and long in length. I wash and set my hair daily and the curl lasts all day. The only thing I would change, if I could, would be the variety of roller sizes that come in the set. I only use the medium size and do not get enough of them and have all these extras I do not use. Therefore, I have to buy extra mediums.

I have used the Caruso Hairsetter for about 18 years. This is my third one.... I have long hair and it's the best setter for great curls that hold. I only wish they lasted longer than what they do. The unit burns out without notice...just stops, BUT I will always buy another one because it works so well.

I have been using Caruso rollers for some time now! The same original one! If it dies out on you.. try sticking a pin or a fine point instrument in the steam hole and move it around a few time.. normally it is mineral buildup and it should start back right up! I must say I use the Phyto line of hair care and the Phytorelaxer for curly, frizzy and relaxed hair.. Can you say va-voom! I am interested in puchasing the Ion one since it was designed to eliminate the frizz.. but if you use a setting lotion and let your hair dry completely before you use the Caruso's it should eliminate the frizz completely and give you nothing but ringlets of volumnous hair! Happy Carusoing!

This is my third unit. I purchased my first unit in the 80's. I have used electric rollers and curling irons and the only way my hair will curl properly and hold that curl all day is with the Caruso. I don't have to use any product or spray. My hair is soft, bouncy and keeps the curl. I use a total of 5 rollers, leave in a few minutes, run my fingers thru my hair and I'm good to go. People always compliment me because my hair always looks good. I love my Caruso and will use nothing else. Please do not ever stop making it!

During moves to three different places, my original Caruso went missing. I bought a different kind of styling roller set, paid more, had inferior results. Ordered my new one online and, just as I remembered, the results are superior & long-lasting. This set is a keeper.

Caruso Curlers were recommended to me nearly 12 years ago by my stylist. I found them and started using them and just loved them. I have since purchased 2 more units only because I use the curlers every day and the unit just wears out. I am now looking to purchase another one. It seems that I need to purchase one about every 4 years. The unit is well worth the money and I can't say it enough, they are wonderful!!!! Thank you
Caruso Hairsetter - A Wonderful Product

I've been using the Caruso Hairsetter system for close to 20 years and have found it to be perfect for my needs. The steam system leaves my hair full of volume, with a set that lasts until I wash my hair (2 times a week). Caruso does not dry out the hair because of the steam system and I couldn't ask for a better product to take care of my hair needs.

I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!! My hair was fried and I had completely stopped wearing it down because of the terrible split ends. After the first time I used this, my hair felt a hundred times softer and it didn't look fried or frizzy anymore. I still haven't made it to get a haircut, but I use this every other day (it lasts at least 2 days) and my hair looks great!!! I always use the Ionic steam - it really helps. If you're on the fence, BUY THIS!!!! You will NOT be sorry!!!!!

I was a professional hairstylist for 15 years before I changed careers. Caruso hot rollers where new on the market and only available to professionals back then. I was extacted when I got them as a gift for Christmas. I am already used to using them. Once you get used to using them, there is nothing better. Your hair stays in great shape! It does not damage your hair like regular hot rollers either!
The best ever!!!

I've used these curlers for over 15 years. I wouldn't use anything else. I have a long hair that wants to be frizzy, but these rollers make my hair so manageable. They are the best! I hope they never quit making them.

I have had my old (round unit) Caruso Molecular steam hair setter for years. It's my secret weapon for having "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" hair. I usually have to wash and style my super-straight, baby-fine hair every day, but with the Caruso, I can get rock star gorgeous hair in ten minutes and the volume and curls last at least three days from one styling. If you don't have one, get one NOW!
Good but could be better...

I really like the Caruso Ion Steam roller a lot more than my old steam rollers. However, the old rollers conveniently were color coded per roller size. The Caruso rollers and clips are all red and it takes time to sort out matching pieces. Also, I'd like the steamer better if you could prep more than more roller at time.

Sistahs,
If you have relaxed hair and are trying to keep it damage free....STOP using curling irons and hot rollers! Use the Caruso. The steam is like a spa treatment to our hair. It loves it! Your hair will grow and grow and get plenty of moisture from the Caruso. You'll get curls that last and last! They will be shiny, healthy, smooth curls. I went on a cruise and took this unit with me and everyone in my travel group was amazed by my hair and though the ship's salon did it. You can't go wrong with this ladies. Give it a try.
If you have nappy roots, it will kink them a bit but you still get great results. This unit works best with relaxed hair but helps you to keep it healthy and damage free. It's like therapy for the hair. Natural hair works with it too but you know our hair and water so keep that in mind. Water is like Kryptonite to natural black hair....it does go back somewhat.
Enjoy it girls!

I have used the smaller Caruso steamsetter for years, and couldn't wait to receive and begin using my new one. I ordered the larger model this time and I am so disappointed. The older smaller (round) unit worked so well on my fine, thin hair. It always added so much body, and my hair curled quickly and the curl stayed in much of the day. The new unit doesn't seem to produce as much steam, and the rollers stay wet longer. I have taken the rollers out after 10-15 minutes, and my hair is often times still wet from the steam. Also, the curl does not last even a few hours. This is clearly a different experience from my last Caruso setter. I am thinking about checking with customer service to see if I can return the set, and try a different model.

I discovered the Caruso Curling system totally by accident, a friend of mine bought one so I figured what the heck! At that time my hair was damaged from lightening it or streaking it on an ongoing basis. After several months of using the curling system, I found my hair to healthier and shinier. The curls last all day at work and into the night, I wouldn't use anything but the Caruso system. The only thing I would add to it would be an on off switch (my model is about 5 years old, so that may have already been added) I find myself ordering another kit today.
