I just bought a Caruso hair setter 2 days ago. It is great!!! The instruction manual was well written and had very clear "how to use" instructions. The machine steams the rollers perfectly. The rollers stayed in my hair without falling out, which is a miracle because my hair is thin and fine. It even comes with a handy storage bag to keep everything in. To top it off, my hair curled perfectly and stayed curled all day without falling. I would recommend this product to anyone.
My system is antique but working great!

I must say that I love my Richard Caruso Molecular Hairsetter! I was excited to read here on the folica website that the newer version does not require adding salt, but since mine is still working GREAT after over 20 years of use, I will continue to add the salt and enjoy my product until its life has ended! I also agree that finding the replacement foams is nearly impossible...until I looked thru my warranty file and found a re-order form which came with the product. Being an environmentally alert/conscience person, I believe there is no reason why we have to buy entire rollers when all we need is the foam. I will call the 800 number this morning which was supplied with the original paperwork and get 'er done! I may even post another note to let you know what happens! Happy curling!! G

i have thin, straight (booring looking hair)
i recently bought a set of caruso rollers and i got the jumbo rollers because i wanna have big waves. im not very talented when it comes to hairstyling and to me the rollers seem so bulky and they dont stay on my head very tight also the sheilds left some kinks in my hair. what am i doing wrong? ive seen people that used caruso hairrollers and their hair looked great, so i guess its not the hairsetter but me ;-) are the smaller sized rollers easier to handle? any andvise?

My sister had one about 10 years ago and told me I needed to try it. Best thing I ever did. Since you are using steam instead of heat it does not fry your hair and holds the curl all day. Hot rollers and curling irons burn. My hair is always shiny and bouncy. My first one quit steaming. So I threw it out. I have since found out if you take the top apart and expose the rods you can scrape them clean and it will work good as new. I searched garage sales to find another. Now I just purchased one online. Hopefully I'll always have one.
Husband Loves His Curls!

My husband has long thick hair, past his shoulders, and I love to see it in big curls. I've been searching for a way to curl his hair (that he'll put up with). I'd tried hot rollers, velcros, old-fashioned brush rollers, etc. -- either he wouldn't take the time to let them dry or they didn't produce a lasting curl. At the suggestion of a friend I finally tried the Caruso Rollers and they work beautifully! I can do his hair in rollers in about 15 mins. in the morning and he doesn't have to sit under a dryer, wear rollers in public, and so on. He now asks me to put his hair in rollers almost every day. Thank you Caruso for a great product that works equally well for men and for women!
kinky hair

This product didn't work on my hair but it clearly works for a lot of people. I just wish I could have been one of them. So the curlers arrived today. (My hair is natural blond- fine but a lot of it- med. legnth)I followed the directions and kept them in for 20 minutes and.......a flip in the front and kinks and semi-waves. I've used curlers in the past without problems except that my hair goes flat in about 2 hours. I really really wanted these to work; so, I tried it again with smaller rollers, more of them, and 10 sec. on the steam. And- I got kinky non-shiny curls at the ends flat on top. It was sad. I was really hoping this would work for me, but I'm going to have to return them :(
Not for me

I have fine in diameter, but thick (lots of) long hair. This product was a waste of $$ for me. My hair takes a very long time to dry, no matter how I dry it, even under a salon hair dryer. The few curlers that actually dried looked good, but most of my hair was sopping wet after two hours of wearing the rollers. It might be a good product for short, easy to dry hair.

I always have been told how beautiful my hair is, and it is because of caruso!! I purchased this one after my previous one stop working after having it several years! This is great for fine, naturally wavy/frizzy hair to create smooth curls!
Best purchase I ever made

I bought mine in 1994!!! I still use it from time to time. I have never found any other product that curls as well as this. It takes time to heat each roller but it is worth it. The curls will last in humidity and will last for days (if you don't wash your hair) I put my long hair in a pony tail the curl the hair in the pony tail, it is much faster to get it all done this way, then I use a curling iron to touch up around bangs etc...I also use this to steam my face (to clean out my pores) and to empty my sinuses. One of the few things I have bought in my life that have been well worth it.
Caruso Rollers

I was excited to get these because of some really great reviews and I disregarded the bad reviews. I took the chance. I don't like them. I have long hair and it didn't do it any justice. The plastic roller "clips" leave kinks in your hair and they are so bulky that you don't get uplifted volume at the roots because they squish your rolled-up hair to your scalp...hence the kinks. I would have returned them had my fiance not accidentally thrown the box out with the paid return postage on it. On a positive note, I can see that they can work well for short hair if other clips are used.

for this??? I returned the product and got a full refund.

I have used the Caruso 30 Molecular Ion Steam Hairsetter
system for about 15 years. I finally found something that really works. Because I have fine hair, my hair would not hold its set but would "go limp". This Caruso system gives me the volume and control I need. It is the perfect solution. And, No More Perms! Since it works by steam instead of just heat, it has improved the quality and texture of my hair, eliminating dry and split ends and helps make my hair shine. It is easy and quick to use and the set stays in. I just love it.

The Caruso Molecular Ion Steam Hairsetter is the ONLY thing that works for my hair! I LOVE the curl...and it LASTS! Before I discovered Caruso, I used to use a curling iron, and the curl only lasted for the moment. Since I can't perm anymore, but I do color, I was at a loss for how I was going to syle my hair without a perm and still have lasting curl. I cannot tell you how thankful I am to have discovered Caruso. I've been using this particular type unit for about seven years now. My hair is long, just past my shoulders, and fine (gray, but I use color). I get soooo many compliments on my hair.......Thank you Caruso for a great product!! I have an extra unit in case my other one goes out...I must have a back-up because I just couldn't be without this unit. Thanks again from a very satisfied customer.

There's a catch to using this steamy product!

It curls great.....and, over time, the steam cracks any mirror you put it near. So put it in the middle of the room, and use it happily. But never ever set it near your vanity, wash basin, sink, etc.

This is the only system that curls my hair without alot of product. Curls are never stiff and sticky, and I even hae curl after sleeping. A little hard to use at first, but once you have it down, it works. Don't reach over steam, it is very hot. But extra rollers to make process faster.

is the only hairsetter I like!
I've had Caruso products for over 17 years. The first one I owned had to be used with salt which was fine with me. Then I bought a travel one because it was more compact. And now I wanted to try the Molecular ion steam hairsetter. I really like it because I have naturally wavy hair and in the summer months it gets fuzzy if I don't use the Caruso hairsetter. The ion hairsetter makes my hair so much softer and I don't have frizzy hair! I hope they will always be available to purchase. The hairsetters last for years. I always use distilled water with mine.

I have a great kind of hair for styling, and yet couldn't have any rolls thru this setter. I thought I didn't keep them in the hair long enough, so kept them for an hour the second time, and guess what? Nothing at all! My hair was somehow humid from the steam!
Best I've had, but..

I've had a good time playing around with this setting kit, as I haven't had one yet that would even put a curl in my hair. (I have tightly curled, frizzy hair naturally) So I haven't really gotten the rolling method down... they don't seem to stay tight against the head and fall to the side or down. It also frizzed my hair like none other!! But I will say one thing... It is the ONLY thing to give me LASTING volume. I will continue to practice and hopefully I won't have these problems in the future... I'm confident in this brand.
I love these curlers even after 15 years

I think these are the best curlers on the market (I have been using them for 15 years), but there are a couple of tricks that make them even better, the most important are:
1) buy different clips to secure the curlers (there are several makes available - mine are Revelon and are hinged, you pinch them to open and they adjust to grasp any size curler - I bought them at a drug store 12 for $10.00 (these clips have lasted the whole 15 years and still look new);
2) if you want your curls to really last - use a heat setting spray - lightly - on your dry hair. This will really increase the time your curls will last;
3) once you get the system of always having a curler steaming - while your roll one - have one on getting ready - you will only ever have to wait for the first curler.
These curlers are light weight and easy to wear while you run around - but you can really only run around if you buy different clips then the one they come with!
Your hair if process will look in better condition after you curl it (it takes away the friz).
I hope you like them as much as I do - I have to order them from the states now but they are worth every penny!
