I have chemically relaxed hair that is very damaged, and if this flat iron made my hair look healthy and shiny it can work on anybody's hair. I have tried Sedu, FHI, Solia you name it. Nothing straightened my hair that quickly, just watch the heat settings, gets very hot fast. It's very hot and humid today, and to my suprise no frizz. This is the first review I've ever written, hope it helps someone else!

I got this straightner Christmas 07. It was a major gift because of the cost ($250). The first time I used it it was great! I loved it! But after 3 months of regular use (2-3 times a week) it started to take longer to heat up and then would turn off while I was in the middle of using it. Finally in May it just stopped working. I had used it earlier that day and it worked okay but when I went to turn it back on for some touch ups it wouldn't work.I didn't understand why because I had only dropped it a couple times from my sink to the floor, which isn't very high. Apparently the wiring in the cord was crap. I was very upset to say the least. I going to try a SEDU. Anyone think the SEDU is better?

Former kinky now shiny and smooth

I had bought a T3 mini recently and returned it because I wanted an automatic shut-off. I would have never known that there was something better out there until the chi wet to dry. Curling was easy! and no more kinks and frizziness compared to the T3 mini. This was very safe too! Hopefully this iron will last! You also need to use this iron on almost dry hair not dripping hair. I would reccomend this iron 100%! Advice to those who smell burning>>>HELLLLO! you need to turn the heat down! that's why it's adjustable DUH! BUY IT! so far I am happy.

my hairdresser tried this on me yesterday and i give it a thumbs down. it left my hair an unpleasant smell- like a burnt smell. i had purchased the sedu 1 1/2" 3 days ago and i definitely recommend this over Chi. It did an amazing job for a lesser price than Chi and no burnt smell at all.

This is a really great flat iron!I love using it at work. I have never had an iron like this before. I like the fact that it heats to whatever temperature that you want it set on.And it smoothes out hair in no time flat.

Great for Thick Hair

I have very thick hair that takes forever to completely dry. I ordered this product to use when my hair was almost dry, just a little damp. It works very well! Do not order this thinking you can use it on soaking wet hair, will not work! Blow dry your hair for about 2-3 minutes, then use this on to smooth the ends! Heats up VERY quickly. Be careful not to burn your scalp. Overall I'm very happy with this straightener. It comes with a great stand too!
amazing

I've never USED a better flat iron than this ONE. I always wondered what products do I still need to buy to keep my hair from getting floffy in the wind, but with THIS FLAT IRON no need. I go out and my hair is still the same as when I straightened it. BEST CHOISE!!!

This flat iron leaves my hair pin straight which is awesome! except the only downside is I have to grease on the frizz cream because it gives my hair so much static.
Fantastic!

I'm so glad I splurged and purchased this Chi! It is works really well on my hair. My hair is quite frizzy with soft waves. Although my hair looks thick, the individual strands are quite thin; so, I can straighten my hair with most flat irons but as soon as I walk outside on a day that's not dry (which is almost never in Vancouver), my hair frizzes up and all my hard work disappears - not with this Chi though. My hair loves it and stay straight all day! I highly recommend this Chi!!

The ignorance of the users that gave this flat iron a bad review obviously they do NOT know what they are doing. If it burns...turn the temperature down then proceed with your straightening. If you drop it due to improper storage, then it is your own fault. A thermal style spray also will help (Biolage spray milk is the best)by taking a section of your hair and spray a few pumps from root to the end of the hair, then iron. Carefully start from the root through to the ends not squeezing too hard,(this will make the iron even hotter causing damage) follow the iron with a comb from scalp to the end. Carefully read the directions or ask your hairdresser on how to use this tool.
If your hair is dry with split ends...try a conditioner.
Everyday usage will leave the hair dry and damaged as any other iron/blowdryer. Coloring, chemical straightening, perming and natural elements in the air.
out of the salon look

I was thrilled with this flat iron. I am now able to get that right out of the salon look with minimal effort.
I dry and straighten my hair in half the time. I do not even have to use any hair product. My hair comes out shinier, softer and straighter then ever before.
This flat iron has given me more time to do other things in my day then fuss with my hair.
It takes skills but works wonderfully

I have almost waist lenght wavy hair with layers and I'm in love with this flat iron..No blow drying. My hair is done in 30 minutes. Here's what I've learned. I also use the chi hair products to protect the hair. Also Folica's customer service sucks..keep reading
You're hair has to be towel dry but on the wet side.(aka squeeze out all the water and rub with a towel for a few minutes add small amounts of hair product) Set the iron to 365-375 degrees (it heats up superfast..don't touch the plates)...section hair with clips to keep it out of the way and keep your hair from drying. It does dry your hair in one swipe as long as you work in small sections which is highly recommended. I start about half an inch awawy from my skull because its superhot and you can feel it when you get to close to your head. In one STRAIGHT swipe you bascially steam your hair bone dry straight. Make sure you curl your ends in..if not your split ends will show. Remember your ends are your deadest and the iron will only straighten them not fix them. make sure you use the suction cups that comes with the stand..to keep it from moving around..its the safest place to put something that hot while you're sectioning off you hair.
On to folica's customer service I paid 184 aboout a month ago. Amazon had it for 134 but Folica wouldn't price match then folica listed it at 174 and again wouldn't price match.

I Got My CHI for christmas this year. I used it twice. IIthought it would be better to use this than to use a blow dryer-i was wrong. The straightener produces humidity- so it your hair fizzes in humidity-like mine- i would suggest not to use it. Two days after Christmas-I went to pull the stand off the counter(while the straightener was in it) and it fell out on to the floor and broke. i was upset because it was the only thing i wanted. NOT worth the $250
Chi 4 Life

I must say that I am a Chi user for life. I have bought 3 Chi's (Chi original, Ultra Chi, & Chi wet/dry), and by far I think this is the best one. I love the adjustable digital settings and the timer function. I also love the ceramic/tourmaline plates which glide through the hair. I am African-American with relaxed hair and I use the Chi wet/dry and it leaves my hair very silky. I have had many hair compliments and I attribute it all to my Chi. The price may cause you to hesitate in buying it, but this iron is definitely worth the price!
