I really want to purchase this, and i'm all about the "green" movement. Is this energy star compliant? Question posted by Caila Tue Mar 25 2008 Submit your answer will this work on curly frizzy hair? or will it make it more frizzy?
hi all. i have very curly thick frizzy hair and i've been reading the posts. does this make your hair frizzy? im not sure if this will work and its expensive. the post on the T3 Tourmaline Professional Ionic Wet/Dry was confusing. so does this one make your hair frizzy or was it the chi? usually i have to blow dry and hot iron my hair. drying by itself won't do the trick even at the salon. does anyone know about the 30day guarantee? if this doesn't work can i return it? i've been thinking about getting Japanese thermal reconditioning but all of the quotes are over $400. this so since my hair is curly i'm worried that may not be a good investment. i mean honestly my hair is pretty out of control. in the past i've used less expensive irons but it seems like they do a number on my hair and after a while it looks all even more frizzy from damage. will i have to dry my hair first? will this dry it will get curly or will it not be worth the time? any suggestions. I have this version of the chi and a regular one, and my hair is so frizzy and curly that i spend the majority of my time brushing through the curls. So far chis are the best kind of straightner to get for your hair, i have no problems with frizz or reapperearing curls, it leaves my hair silky smooth and shiny, and for added protection I've begun to use the john frieda shampoo and conditoner on my hair, and it looks amazing. I don't blow dry my hair at all, just brush, section and straighten...after using a chi you will never use another straightner. | | Reply by Esperanza

OK i am going to try and answer all of your questions.
1) The chi does NOT make your hair frizzy: I think the people who say that this straightener (or the T3) just aren't using it right; ill explain below)
2)If you don' like it. you just return it. I believe it comes with a return label and the address so its not difficult. I would also suggest when returning something to get a delivery confirmation from the post office or a tracking number from ups, whichever you go to send it.
3)You do not have to dry your hair first.I suggest to towel dry your hair and if your hair is long buy 7-9 hair clips to section your hair off. The most important thing is to do small section at a time . I'm talking 1 in. sections. depending on the length/thickness of your hair it will take about and average of 15-20 min. to straighten once you get the hang of things. I suggest the first few times giving yourself at least 45 min. so you aren't in a rush and burn yourself (remember steam comes out of this!!)I wrote a tip under the tips and advice coloum on how to not burn your scalp. READ IT!!!
I have very curly and thick hair so I know the pain you go throug when its humid and your hair is unmanegable. but this will keep your hair straight for 3 days guranteed I kept mine for 4!!!
Oh and make sure to use some kind of heat protectant. I suggest the chi silk infusion, my stylist uses this every time he uses any hot tool and it works extremly well on my hair.
Hope this helps! | | Reply by Kim

I know they say this is a wet-to-dry iron. I haven't used that funtion. I have found for my extremely coarse, curley and frizzy hair, the absolute best results are achieved when my hair is completely dry. I either pull it back and air dry it for a day and then use the straightener on day 2 or i use a low setting on the blow dryer, some Kerastase and then take very small sections to iron our the frizz left by the blow drying. scenario #1 usually has the best results, but I'm happy with option #2 in a pinch! good luck! | holes in ceramic plate
Why are there plates not completely flat. They have holes in them???? Question posted by Joanna Sat Dec 29 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Leslie

The plates are not completely flat because when your hair is still damp and you add heat its going to create moisture. If the plates were flat the moisture/steam would have no place to go, and could cause damage to your hair resulting in split ends. | will it work for my hair type?
I might get the Chi Wet to Dry Flat Iron and I was wonering if it will work for my hair type? I have long very thick hair and its can be frizzy at times. So how good does it work? Question posted by Amanda Mon Dec 17 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Nichole

I just got this straightner a few days ago and I have the same hair type as you. It seems to work pretty well and it leaves my hair a lot smoother then my regular Chi does. I hope this helped. | | Reply by Anne

I have the same hair type. just make sure your hair is not dripping wet(towel dry it a little bit). You also have to straiten your hair in small sections so it is completely dry. I find that a setting between 365 and 375 degrees works best for thick hair. If you are worried about frizz just use a little leave in conditioner(too much and your hair will look greasy). This is the best straightener I have ever used,(and trust me,I have tried many). I would definetly recommend this to anyone with thick hair. | Chi wet to dry, will it work for my hair type?
So I might get the Chi for Christmas and I was wondering if it will work for my hair type. I have very thick wavy hair thats kind of frizzy.Since it's kind of expensive I want to know if its worth the price. Also will it last? Amanda, I had also been debating on whether or not to buy the CHI wet to dry iron for Christmas, considering the price. My sister and I have shared an original CHI for the past couple years, and it works great. We have not experienced any complications with it, so far. Since I have the same hair type as you, I wanted to inform you that the CHI I am currently using works very well on all hair types, including thick wavy hair, with some frizz. Since the CHI has a good reputation and many of my friends have them, and love theirs, I believe that this new wet-to-dry CHI will exceed standards, as expected by many customers. | Need manual instructions
When my Chi wet 2 dry arrived, the manual was missing. Tried to get help from Farouk but still waiting to hear back. Can anyone tell me how to use the mode button and the arrow buttons? Thanks for your help! Question posted by Hil Thu Dec 06 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Nichole

The mode button just changes what temperate scale is used. This button is also used to set the automatic shut off which I'm not sure how to use yet. The up and down arrows are used to increase or decrease the temperature. | curls.....

What I like about the wet to dry is that you don't have to dry your hair, which is great because I have extremely thick hair. It isn't suppose to fry your hair because it locks the moisture in when you go over it. Good luck making your decision! |
