You can use it with any flat iron. And I would usually ceramic is better, but it's a personal preferance kind of deal. My favorite is a tourmaline and ceramic mix.

well, you asked two questions there, so lets start with the first one. Yes, to my knowlege, the silk infusion would work just as well with the titanium plates vs. the ceremic ones because the formula in this product is activated by HEAT. However, Ceramic is a better conducter of heat and Titanium is a chaeper metal. So it will still work, maybe just not as well due to the quality of your plates.

Chi silk infusion? Thermal guard? Or both?
I want to buy the silk infusion, and I read that it is also a heat protectant. Well, I was wondering, should I only get the silk infusion. OR, get the chi iron guard instead. I read some answers from a different website, and some people said, they put both. So I researched on the iron guard as well, some people said it's sticky etc. So I'm not sure, if I should just buy the silk infusion, or iron guard, or both. Please tell me which works best? o-o Because I use the original chi from farouk U.S.A, and I use it everyday. I don't want to damage my hair, I want the best result possible :D

I just use the Silk Infusion, and my hair turns out great. I have no had any trouble with split ends, burning, or frying the tips of my hair. Of course using the Iron Guard is "going the extra mile" with heat protection, but I wouldn't think it's necessary unless your flat iron tends to fry hair worse than most.

Yes. Put in the silk infusion when your hair is damp, let hair air dry or blow dry, then flat iron. You could also put it in your hair when it is naturally air dried and then flat iron, but it never hurts to put it in wet. You could also add a very, very tiny amount when you are done straightening your hair and that will get rid of any flyaways.

The smell
Is it true that the CHI silk infusion smells funny? I've read some reviews saying it smells like a man so I'm very hesitant on bying this product.

It smells like men's cologne, but that goes away about a minute after you've put it in your hair. Don't let the smell stop you from buying this - it is an amazing product!

CHI silk infusioin does smell like a men's cologne, sort of like Old Spice. But the smell isn't over powering. It fades as soon as you put it in your hair. I have it in my hair now and I can't even smell it.

Too Thick?
I've heard my friend complain about the thickness of this product. She insists that while it does help your hair and protect it from heat, it is greasy and thick and hard to apply. Any truth to this? I already have Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum which works pretty well for me, but I thought I'd try something new in the hopes of restoring some of the damage to my hair while still ironing it. Any second opinion or recommendations would be great!BTW: I have very thick, naturally copper coloured hair down to my shoulders. It's also layered. It tends to have some wavyness to it, hard waves in the back. If someone has hair like this, please tell me what you do for flat ironing it! I need some help in this department.

I have hair EXACTLY like yours. I mean, even down to the color. So I can tell you easily, having used Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny as well, that this stuff is perfect for your hair. It will make it so soft, and it is not too thick. Thicker than the skinny serum, but in a different way. Easy to apply to damp hair, trust me. BUY IT, seriously.

It is true, it will be very thick and greasy and opposite of why you buy it ONLY if you apply too much!! The right amount is about a dime size, that should do the trick. Anything else will truly be a disaster! This goes with all hair serums, you know.

It most defiantly feels like silk i love it. I recently dyed my hair from almost black to blonde and it was absolutely dead. i thought it would never get healthy. Then i bought CHI and it is as soft as silk . and i love the smell. i recommend you get a big bottle if you guy some. Little bottles never last long. =]

It works wonders with my Sedu iron. I put in a dime sized amount into my palm after towel drying my hair when I get out of the shower, then I blow dry and straighten my hair.

Using with straigtening balms
I currenlty straigthen my hair using Redken #12 (Ultra straight balm). It doesn't seem to offer much heat protection, but does a good job of straigtening my hair. Can I use Chi Silk infusion in combination with a straigtening balm, and does is matter the order you apply them in?

It is best to apply your straightening balm to wet hair, blow dry it out as straight as you can, and right before using your flat iron, apply a small amount of the silk infusion, careful not to get too much at your roots. This works great for me! The purpose of the silk infusion is to strengthen your hair and protect it from the heat( the formula is activated by the ceramic heat of your flat iron) The chi silk infusion also makes my hair softer and silkier.
