I'm planning on buying a pink dazzle limited edition chi iron. I want to know how long the chi irons in general last. I've read some reviews that say they last 2-3 years and some last only a year. Question posted by Cloey Tue Feb 26 2008 Submit your answer ?

I have extremely thin hair, and I have been using this chi for 3 years, and it has not ever burned my hair, or fried it at all. | | Reply by Kari

Yes and no, it depends on how often you use heating tools, and if you use some sort of heat protection spray. If you use a flat iron daily, you are most likely to have some sort of damage at the ends of your hair. Using thermal protection spray can keep your hair relatively healthy. If you can, try to lower daily use to 3 times a week, then your hair won't fry and will stay healthy. | | Reply by Whitney

You cannot leave the chi in one spot on your hair or it will burn any type of hair. Sometimes on stubborn spots you may have to run over it more than once but I use my chi on my daughters hair and she has extremely thin hair and it dosent fry her hair at all. Also make sure your hair is completely dry, alot of people fry their hair by using it with damp hair. | Heat
How hot does this straightener get to? I have a regular Chi the black one and I need a new one I have had mine for a year and a half, and I am finding it isnt heating up as well as it used to. Does this have the same heat settings as The Original Chi? Question posted by Shaina Wed Jan 30 2008 Submit your answer | Reply by Meredith

all chi's are basically the same but why do you think there are new ones?, They come up with better technology. This one will probably last you longer. It is also less weight. That is basically the main difference. It will smooth and make your hair wonderful. | | Reply by Alicia

I found this online: Fixed 302-356 F for the pink dazzle iron
They also list the original Chi as 385 fixed temp - another site I found lists the original Chi as 410 fixed. The Chi Turbo goes up to 356 F and I am bi-racial with "nappy" hair and it works beautifully for me (although my hair dresser did tell me to get the original next time - she said it gets hotter) So I really want the pink dazzle - I'll have to decide now... |
