DO NOT WRAP THE CORD! submitted by: Kylee, Tue Feb 12 2008

I have read the fed back on the Chi Irons and I wanted to add a tip to those of you that are saying the iron is shorting out on you. When I got my first Chi I used to wrap the cord around the base of the iron which is a big NO! When you wrap the cord around the base it bends the wires and causes them to short out. When I purchased another one, that I still have since 2005, I never wrapped the cord arount the base and mine is still in GREAT condition and still works! I'm actually about to purchase a new one today and give my old one to my sister. Just thought I would give you all a little tip on the Chi's. Thanks!!
how to get smooth, soft, silky hair submitted by: alyssa, Wed May 30 2007

1. Invest in a quality shampoo and conditioner that is for your hair type(dry/color-treated,damaged,or normal/oily)
2. I recommend getting a good deep conditioner/reconstructor/hot oil treatments (once or twice a month), because since you'll be straightening often, it will do your hair wonders.
3. Use a hair serum that is heat protected. It can be used before and after blow drying.
4. You can either blow dry or air dry your hair. If you decided to blow dry, use the lowest setting possible.
5. Then flat iron your hair. Find the right temperature, you don't want to fry your hair.
If you try this, I guarantee you that your hair will be smoother, sleeker, straighter, silkier and sexier than ever before. To get better results, buy quality products. Yes, it may be expensive. But it's definitely worth it! And remember, the less product you use, the better the results will be. Always follow the directions of the product. The more product you use, the more money you'll be throwing down the drain. Oh, get a LEAVE IN CONDITIONER! It is the best!

I an African American woman with natural curly hair. Here are the steps that I use to Chi my hair. 1. Wash and Condition (Deep Condition) with Kera Kare or Affrim productd 2. Roller set my hair (tight) with Biolage leave in conditioner, setting lotion (lottabody) and protein treatment to the scalp and hair. 3. Once hair is completey dry, I blow dry my roots only! 4. Next I put a dime size amount of Biosilk to my hair and then Chi in small sections (you may need to go over it twice) 5. Lastly, I put a SMALL amount of Pure Brillance from Aveda to ends only and then wrap up over night!
Care for the Cord submitted by: Leslie, Sat Aug 12 2006

When you wrap the cord around the iron it ruins the cord, eventually causing your iron to die. The best way to keep the cord is in the same fashion it was sent to you from the factory. Fold the cord along the same folds it came with and then you can hold it together by placing it in an old toilet paper tube. You can also place the orginal Chi iron in a paper towel tube to keep it closed when you are traveling.
get a comb submitted by: sa, Mon May 22 2006

i have very thick, very curly hair. i recently cut a foot of it off, otherwise the best iron would have been a waste of time and energy. with this flat iron, though, after i straighten it, i look like i have never had curly hair, it's amazing. the most important thing with this iron is to put it on the highest setting for fast results, and to lead a comb infront of the iron. also, small sections at a time will produce faster results then getting frustrated and doing big chunks endlessly. goodluck.

I've heard alot of people blow dry your hair and then use the Chi. I've tried that, however, I still have frizz. The best way my hair stays frizz free, straight, smooth and shinny is if I wash my hair, apply Bio Silk to damp hair and let it air dry. Once your hair is dry, Chi it. I usually wash it at night and Chi it in the morning. It works great for me. I always get compliments on my hair.

WHY YOUR IRON IS "BREAKING" submitted by: Samantha Diaz, Fri Jul 08 2005

People complain about their flat iron breaking all the time. The number one reason I have heard is because when you store your iron when you are not using it, you probably wind the cord around the flat iron itself to save space. YOU CAN'T DO THAT. Let the cord lay straight or just put it in a drawer loosely. Over time that tight twisting of the cord ruins it and your iron cannot get power properly. I had flat irons breaking on me all the time, my stylist told me to not wind the cord up and I have had my Kenta Flat Iron for 4 years now. Works as well as it did the day I got it.
