here's to all you beautiful women.... submitted by: deb, Fri Aug 08 2008

yes i have curly hair and i love it! i get so many compliments on the consistent spiral pattern and people ask me where i get it done..but of course, we want what we don't have. i look so much better with my natural beautiful curly hair, as most of you do in the pics i've seen, but sometimes the thrill of pin straight hair calls to me, so i am looking for the perfect product and it sounds like the sedu wins over the chi.
i have a flat iron and can't remember the company. it seemed to work just fine but was too wide and i got the bends in my hair. i only straighten it 2 or 4 times a year cuz my curly hair is actually extraordinary. if i had straight hair i would probably pay big bucks to get the curl pattern that i was born with.
my point - love what you have and enjoy the change but don't ruin your hair in the process.

Know how to use! submitted by: Nicole, Tue Apr 22 2008

The Chi is a great iron. I've read some bad reviews from people who say it damaged their hair. That is from lack of proper use if it. I'm a hairdresser and find a lot of people using flat irons improperly. Just because your blonde doesn't mean you can't use it either. You should ask your hair care professional how to use a flat iron and I would recommend the Chi to any of my clients!

Must-Have Products To Buy From Folica When You Buy Any Flat Iron submitted by: Macky Melize, Sun Aug 26 2007

Thinking of buying a flat iron? Well, there's more to it than just a flat iron. When you buy a flat iron from Folica be sure that you buy these along with your flat iron! These products will ensure that your flat iron will last long, be easier to use, and straighten your hair much faster. This tip doesn't just go for the Sedu, make sure you get these products with ANY flat iron.
1. Time after time, build-up will cling to your flat iron, coating your precious flat iron in gunk and burnt residue. This will cause your hair to stink and also it will take you longer to flat iron your hair. Clean it with Sedu Professional Styling Iron Cleaner which is sold on Folica for $6.99
2. Using heat on your hair frequently will cause damage to your hair, BUT not if you use a heat protectant! If you're looking for a high-quality heat protectant, get FHI Heat Hot Sauce, which is sold on Folica for $14.00. OR you can get any Sedu Heat Protectant for $12.99. They have heat protectants that volumize, moisturize, and smoothe your hair. If your hair is color treated, you can get one that is for Colored hair.
3. It is much easier to flat iron your hair if you put it into sections before you straighten it, and clipping your hair away so it doesn't get in the way of the section you are straightening can make the job go quicker. Use Metropolis The Crane Hair Clips to clip your hair into sections while flat-ironing it. These clips cost $9.99 for a box of 6 clips.
4. When you store your flat iron, make sure it is kept where it can't get dusty, dirty, kicked around, stepped on, or damaged. I keep my flat iron inside the Folica Heat Proof Iron Mat/Pouch which currently comes free with all flat irons. When you are not using it, slip it inside the pouch with the plates closed and the plug UNPLUGGED, resting on top of the pouch. While you are straightening your hair, you can also use it as a mat to not burn countertops and such.
So, there you have it! Four must-have flat iron essentials to get with your flat iron. Make sure you grab all these products from Folica when you get a flat iron!

Just a tip- Don't buy the ones that are colored, because they're made of a cheaper plastic than the black ones. The stuff that the black ones are made of are much sturdier and will probably last longer. That might be part of all the reviews about them breaking. Just go for the black one if you're planning on buying one.
CHI CURLS!!! submitted by: Brittany, Tue Feb 27 2007

HOW TO CURL WITH 1INCH CHI!! I WAS SO AMAZED WHEN SOMEONE SHOWED ME HOW TO CURL WITH MY CHI!!!! YOU JUST DO IT LIKE YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IT STRAIGHT BUT THEN YOU DO A HALF TURN WITH IT AND SLOWLY BRING IT DOWN STRAIGHT. THE HALF TURN IS LIKE IF YOU WERE TO FLIP IT UNDER WHEN YOU ARE AT THE END, THIS TIME THE FLIP IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO. WHEN YOU RELEASE, YOU WILL HAVE A PERFECT CURL!! I LOVE CHI!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!
**THE SLOWER YOU GO DOWN YOUR HAIR, THE TIGHTER THE CURL BECOMES.
Pin Staight Style that Lasts submitted by: Katie, Thu Jan 18 2007

I shampoo and condition my hair at night (every step can be done in morning) with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner. I run my towel over my wet hair to get out excess water. I let my hair air dry for about 10-15 minutes. Then I use L'oreal Hot Straight(bright pink bottle). I blow dry my hair with the hot setting and low with a concentrator on the nozzle. I dry my hair using my fingers (creates volume at roots) until it's about 70% dry. Then I clip up half of it and blow dry the bottow half with a round brush and when that part's dry I let down the other half and do the same. When it's dry I normally go to sleep on a satin pillowcase (doesn't suck out moisture like cotton pillowcases). I wake up with softer, smoother hair and it's easier to not spend an hour straight on your hair. But if you want, you can do everything at one time. Next I clip my hair into 3 sections or so and spray one spray of Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Flat Out Finishing Spray. Make sure it dries completely, and you only use one spray. Straighten with CHI. Let down next section and spray the spray one time, straighten. Repeat until finished. If necessary use Frizz Ease Secret Weapon going from the bottom of your hair than up. If needed, follow up with Frizz Ease Moisture Barrier hairspray. If you get those frizzies right on your hairline, spray a toothbrush with a little spray of hairspray and push back the frizzies. Stays straight for hours, I swear.

This is how I do my routine, and I'll tell you my hair is never out of place:
1. Use Nexus Therappe Luxury Moisturizing Shampoo.
2. Mix together Biosilk Silk Therapy Conditioner and CHI Infra Treatment. Leave on for five minutes.
3. Step out of the shower and leave your towel on your head for 15 minutes.
4. Put Silk Therapy Cure Soyeuse and CHI Keratin Mist in your hair, then blowdry straight.
5. Put on CHI Silk Infusion and CHI 44 Iron Gaurd. Then straighten in layers.
6. Before you step out the door, put some more Chi Keratin Mist on, it'll add some extra shine.
Heat Protector submitted by: Katie, Wed Jan 10 2007

It's best to use heat protector before blow drying your hair. After it's completely dry you can straighten without a heat protector. But it you absolutely have to use heat protector make sure it dries before heat gets anywhere near it. If it simmers going down your hair it's frying it.
tips when straightening hair submitted by: anonymous, Sat Jan 06 2007

ok some tips......... um,,
if you continuilly straighten your hair make sure to keep it well conditioned,, *there is a difference b/w daily conditioners and deep conditioners,, you want to use a deep conditioner regularly(about once a week) *while daily conditioners are more on the maintanence side, deep conditioners actually close the hair cuticle, preventing damage.
next when washing NEVER pile your hair on top of your head,, it only asks for tangles
when shampooing-- work from roots to tips when conditioning-- concentrate on the tips
if your washing your hair after a serious styling such as one that would contain a lot of hairspray,, comb out the tangles while the hair is DRY,, no matter how much hair you see in the sink girls,, combing your hair while it is dry is far less damaging than combing your hair when it is wet (wet hair=fragile, and weak)
when it is time for the final rinse it should be done with COLD water,, i know i know,, it sounds a bit much but it actually is proven to lay the hair cuticle STRAIGHT which is what you want when persuing a more straighter style. If going curly, then forget this tip.
keep your hair split-end free,, straightening hair with the CHI or any other ceramic flat iron tends to highlight them more,, a look NO ONE wants.lol.
towel dry hair FIRST! it should be 70% dry before ever touching the blow dryer,, because otherwise you are just boiling the water thats on your hair which, of course, causes damage,, focus people!
apply serum to your hair after you wash IMMEDIATELY,, the point of serum is to apply it before frizz is created so as to prevent it,, there is no use in using serum if your hair is already frizzy from walking around,, common sense tells us this
ive done much research(lol. i know i know loser,, but its winterbreak,, im bored) and these tips seem to stand out the most and have been the most repetitive)
