Don't wrap the cord around the straightener, this causes it to short out.

i agree with u, i had a chi and little over a year it broke and i can't even use it anymore!! It's my 2nd chi and they all seem to break down. The clips seem to fall so quickly. It's to expensive to be breaking down on u every year!!!!!!!!!!

No matter what kind of hair type you have, always use a product in advance. The two main suggestions you always hear are biosilk and chi silk therapy; you'll want the chi product because it contains no alcohol and biosilk does contain alcohol. ALWAYS dry your hair completely then flat iron in SECTIONS.

USE SILK THERAPY BEFORE USING CHI IRON TO PROTECT THE HAIR FROM DRYING OUT. THE SILK THERAPY IS HEAT ACTIVITED, SO IT PROTECTS THE HAIR WHILE GIVING THE HAIR A CONDITIONING TREATMENT AT THE SAME TIME.

i think that the chi flat iron is over priced and over rated ,at first i loved it until little things started going wrong with it.i have had it for a little over a year and now it is broken to where i cant even use it. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THERE ARE BETTER PRODUCTS OUT THERE THAT ARE LESS EXPENSIVE AND WORK JUST AS GOOD.

The CHI is hot. Use Biosilk. It feels very oily on your hands but it makes your hair very soft without making it greasy. It doesn't weigh your hair down like other products can. You may not see a dramatic difference right away, but after you start using it get your split ends trimmed a few times and the biosilk will start to dramatically help your hair.

iron in sections
get clips and iron in sections of an inch...
not only does the iron itself get hot, but after you use it on your hair, your hair gets REALLy hot as well
i've bruned my hands countless times by moving my hair to the side and clipping it in sections while using the chi
also, don't over-do it
don't run it over more than twice on a single section
contrary to popular belief, hair DOES lose volume as the day goes by
you lose... i think 20% within half an hour of straightening
so you don't really ned to run it through so much
if you are in a rush... just running it over your hair should be enough
if you're going to put something in your hair before using it, i suggest biosilk
it feels oily when you have it in your hands... but it really isn't
and it makes your hair incredibly soft
but don't use to much
also...
when straightening, i like to pull it outward instead of inward
like the opposite of this /
lame i know... but i can't depict it any other way
straightening it this way keeps you from buring yourself, it makes your hair look longer, and it doesn't give you that "bob" look

I know you're not stupid...flat irons get hot! But if you color/bleach your hair a lot be very careful it will burn your hair in a heart beat! Be sure you use something on your hair before you flat iron it. Hot is an understatement for the CHI.
