For some odd reason they don't last long at all for what you pay for them. They work great at first and get the job done but they burn up by wire short that starts small but then completely burns out and dies.

Trust me on this tip. I have tried and experimented and wasted hundreds of dollars experimenting. But now I have the perfect solution to a bouncy, at home wrap. 1)Wash and deep condition hair with Kera Care. 2)While wet, apply a dime sized amount of Biosilk Therapy to hair. 3)Blow dry with ionic hair blow dryer. 4) Using the Chi Ceramic Flat Iron, iron hair layer by layer getting close to the roots. DO NOT use any Oil Sheen, Grease, Heat Protecter, or Leave In Conditioner, these products only weighs the hair down with out that full, bouncy look. If you are concerned about your hair being dry, DONT, the deep conditioner, and silk therapy with irons gets the job done!
Wire wearout submitted by: Mary, Fri Jul 18 2008

Have gone through 3 Chi's. Only problem is after some use, about a year of everyday use the white (hot) wire grounding goes bad or losens on the circuit board. Thus causing the iron to turn on and off when trying to use it. Its manigable and you can continue use, but eventually there comes a point where it dies and only because of the hot wire. I've opened the iron and tried sauldering the wire back to the ground and made a jumper for it and it still didn't work. Worth the 85.00 for the entire unit though, works really well on all types of hair I've discovered. Best bang for the buck.

if your hair is becoming boring then when you get down to the end of your hair take the paddles closer to your face a little, if you have a good enough straightener then it will give you a little bit of a nice curl!!

I always use the orginal chi strightner.I love it.But one problem i had with it was getting the ends of my long thick curly hair pin stright. The ends were always puffed out.If you have the same problem heres what to do!Take in about a handful of hair and leave the strightner there for 10 secounds (holding tight) When you do this the ends will be strightned to the ends,as long as your hair really is! goodluck ;]

-The night before or before you take a shower, apply regular olive oil in your hair (quarter size amount). -Wash & condition your hair with Pantene (the kind for African Americans). -When hair is towel dried, apply CHI Silk Infusion to your hair (quarter size amount) -Spray some kind of heat protection in your hair to protect from some damage. I suggest you use Treseme Thermal creations Heat Spray. -Blow dry your hair with an ionic hair dryer. -Clip hair into four or more sections, only straightening one section at a time. Make sure you get as close to the root as possible, to get it nice and straight. Don't get burned when styling! -When done, add a little bit more of the CHI Silk Infusion oil. -Lightly hair spray over the finished product with a mist hairspray. *Do any more tuch-ups as needed during the week. I hope I helped!!

if you are using a flat iron on your hair then spend the extra money and buy professional products made for your hair type and also but the flat iron sprays and serums to use with it.. It will dry your hair no matter the type if you do it constantly and do not use the proper products along with it. The Chi products are great.

My CHI flat iron is shorting out, but it is over 1 year old. I called 1-800-543-3387 and the rep said you could just package up the flat iron w/ a note of what is wrong with it. Put your return address and telephone number in note. Send to Farouk Systems Attn:Service Center 250 Penn Bright Houston, TX 77090. She advised sending by carrier with a tracking number. Send check or money order & they will either fix it or give you a new one if they can't fix it and send it back within 7-10 days. I was very happy to hear this news and hope this helps someone else with the same problem with the CHI flat iron.
Really curly hair needs SILK INFUSION! submitted by: Lauren, Tue Jan 22 2008

I have super curly thick hair and the only results that I've had with the CHI getting my hair super straight has been with using the silk infusion by Chi. There is a trick to it...do NOT oversaturate your hair with the product, or it will not stay straight and will be greasy. While a dime sized amount does not do it for me, I just make sure that all of my hair has been coated in it and then go to straightening. Daily touch-ups are not always necessary but with too much product, my ends curl up so that is my warning!

Wash and condition hair with Herbal Essences None of your Frizzness. Try the CHI Silk Infusion(can be purchased on Folica) It works great, just put a nickel sized amount into palms of hands and work through freshly washed, towel dried hair. Blow dry hair with an ionic blow dryer. The CHI Silk Infusion is good because it also has heat protection in it to go against to much breakage. When hair is totally dry, section hair off with clips. Straighten each section, getting as close to the root as possible, without burning yourself of course. Glide the flat iron down fast a couple times until straight, so you don't get as many split ends. Lightly spray with a misty hairspray and then comb or brush through the finished product. Do any touch ups during the week. You can add the CHI Silk Infusion everyday to dry hair, but only a dime sized amount this time, on dry hair, so it don't get greasy looking.
