Advice for any flat iron users
submitted by: Lisa, Sat Feb 09 2008

if you are using a flat iron on your hair then spend the extra money and buy professional products made for your hair type and also but the flat iron sprays and serums to use with it.. It will dry your hair no matter the type if you do it constantly and do not use the proper products along with it. The Chi products are great.

Repair flat iron over 1 year-send in $35 to manufacturer
submitted by: Karen Solomon, Tue Jan 29 2008

My CHI flat iron is shorting out, but it is over 1 year old. I called 1-800-543-3387 and the rep said you could just package up the flat iron w/ a note of what is wrong with it. Put your return address and telephone number in note. Send to Farouk Systems Attn:Service Center 250 Penn Bright Houston, TX 77090. She advised sending by carrier with a tracking number. Send check or money order & they will either fix it or give you a new one if they can't fix it and send it back within 7-10 days. I was very happy to hear this news and hope this helps someone else with the same problem with the CHI flat iron.

Really curly hair needs SILK INFUSION!
submitted by: Lauren, Tue Jan 22 2008

I have super curly thick hair and the only results that I've had with the CHI getting my hair super straight has been with using the silk infusion by Chi. There is a trick to it...do NOT oversaturate your hair with the product, or it will not stay straight and will be greasy. While a dime sized amount does not do it for me, I just make sure that all of my hair has been coated in it and then go to straightening. Daily touch-ups are not always necessary but with too much product, my ends curl up so that is my warning!

African American Hair

Wash and condition hair with Herbal Essences None of your Frizzness. Try the CHI Silk Infusion(can be purchased on Folica) It works great, just put a nickel sized amount into palms of hands and work through freshly washed, towel dried hair. Blow dry hair with an ionic blow dryer. The CHI Silk Infusion is good because it also has heat protection in it to go against to much breakage. When hair is totally dry, section hair off with clips. Straighten each section, getting as close to the root as possible, without burning yourself of course. Glide the flat iron down fast a couple times until straight, so you don't get as many split ends. Lightly spray with a misty hairspray and then comb or brush through the finished product. Do any touch ups during the week. You can add the CHI Silk Infusion everyday to dry hair, but only a dime sized amount this time, on dry hair, so it don't get greasy looking.

STRAIGHT.SHINY.HEALTHY HAIR

AT NIGHT OR BEFORE YOU TAKE A SHOWER PUT OLIVE OIL IN YOUR HAIR FOR EXTRA SILK AND SOFTNESS(DIME SIZED AMOUNT). WASH OUT THE OLIVE OIL SO IT'S NOT GREASY. WASH YOUR HAIR WITH SUNSILK THERMASHINE SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER, THIS PRODUCT PROTECTS HAIR FROM HEAT DAMAGE. TOWEL DRY HAIR AND APPLY CHI SILK INFUSION TO WET HAIR(DIME SIZE AMOUNT)THIS GIVES YOU SILKY HAIR AND PROTECTS FROM HEAT DAMAGE TOO. USE A ROUND BRUSH AND BLOW DRY HAIR. WHEN DONE, PUT HALF OF HAIR UP IN A CLIP. STRAIGHTEN A 2 INCH SECTION OF HAIR AT A TIME. WHEN DONE FLAT IRONING THAT HALF SPRAY A LIGHT MISTY HAIRSPRAY OVER THAT AND BRUSH THROUGH. LET HAIR DOWN FROM CLIP AND DO THE SAME THING, STRAIGHTEN, SPRAY, AND BRUSH. ***MAKE SURE WHEN YOU STRAIGHTEN YOUR HAIR WITH THE CHI, GO FROM THE ROOT ON DOWN TO THE ENDS. DO NOT GO SLOW, THAT WILL BREAK YOUR HAIR FASTER, GLIDE FAST A COUPLE TIMES UNTIL STRAIGHT. DON'T BURN YOURSELF!

want to have perfect hair using your chi?
submitted by: marissa, Mon Nov 12 2007
11 of 13 people found this tip helpful.

ok guys, if you want perfect hair when you use your chi, just follow these instructions.
1. wash your hair with pantene ice shine shampoo and conditioner. leave the conditioner on for 5 minutes. seriously guys, this this stuff makes my hair so soft and shiny!
2. towel dry your hair in sections. when it's damp, rub some john frieda frizz ease serum through it to get rid of frizzies and to protect your hair from the heat of your blowdryer/chi straightener.
3. blow dry hair straight. spray with loreal heat protecting spray and heat up your chi.
4. straighten your hair with your chi in sections. your hair looks the best when you clip your hair up into sections and straighten the bottom layer, then the middle, then the top layer of hair.
5. spray a little bit of shine spray on your hair. your hair should look silky and straight!

how to keep your hair healthy and shiny.
submitted by: kelseyyyy =], Sun Nov 11 2007

okayyy guys, i do this everyday to keep my hair healthy and shiny, so pay attention. one i do to air dry, the other when i want to blow dry and straighten.

for air drying
1. i wash my hair at night with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. i like nexxus, but you can use anything as long as it's moisturizing.
2.towel dry hair super well. pat, don't rub. rubbing creates frizz and static.
3. when my hair is still damp, i scrunch a little bit of bumble and bumble curl cream into my hair to bring out my natural waves.
4. i let it dry while i sleep. in the morning, i shake my waves and spray them with garnier shine spray.

for blowdrying/straightening
1. still wash with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, but if you have deep conditioner, that's even better. i love redken smooth down butter treatment. it makes my hair super silky.
2. towel dry like always.
3. mix a drop of smoothing cream with a drop of anti-frizz serum. i love dove styling cream and bumble and bumble anti-frizz serum.
4. rub through hair and blow dry. when dry, put on some heat protecting spray and run the chi straightener through your hair. your hair should be straight and silky smooth!

make your hair even shinier and silkier

*** let your hair air dry *** 1. Wash your hair with the Fekkai glossing shampoo and conditioner letting the conditioner sit in your hair for about two to three minutes.
2. At the end of your shower or bath blast your hair with ice cold water (the colder the water, the shinier the hair).
3. Work a "pea size" of the Fekkai glossing cream through damp hair and wrap in a towel for about an hour.
4. Its best to sleep on a silk pillow case because it prevents frizz.
5. In the morning, spray the CHI 44 Iron Guard on your hair before flat ironing.
6. Flat Iron your hair.
7. Work another "pea size" amount of the Fekkai glossing cream through your hair for ultimate frizz control (work the cream through after your hair has cooled down from the flat ironing).
*** let your hair air dry ***

warning for people with delicate hair
submitted by: lydia, Mon Aug 27 2007
24 of 34 people found this tip helpful.

I just bought the Chi yesterday and will be returning it tomorrow. The bad thing about the Chi is that it has one setting...HOT! If you have bleached hair it will fry it...I even put a product in my hair but the temp was way too much. I owned a Sedu for 4 years until it broke last week...I plan on getting another since that one didn't damage my hair and had temperature control. If your hair is delicate I'd skip the Chi.
