this is a great product i have very thick and curly hair and it turned out very straight even when i left it over a couple of nights because im not willing to get up early enough to straigten it. but last week it stopped heating and the warrenty went out in may, i haed only had this straigtner a year and a half, so great product just think before you buy.
Works great until it breaks!!!

I have gone through both the Chi 2" and the Chi 1" flat irons. Both of them worked superb until a year later when they would no longer heat like they should and they made my hair staticky after that year. I started off with the 2" and after the year, I went ahead and bought the 1" b/c my hair was shorter and I really liked the way my other one had worked. I was very lenient on buying another Chi since they are more expensive than most others. But I went ahead and bought the 1" thinking that maybe I got a defective 2" one. To no avail, the 1" has now done the exact same thing my 2" did and that was stop working after the 1st year. I asked my hair stylist which one she uses and she told me what it was which I can't remember right now, but said she did use the Chi's all the time until she continuously had to buy them due to the fact they were no longer working and they only come with a 1 year warranty!! The one she uses now has a 3 year warranty on it and has had no problems!! I will be calling to find out which one it is b/c I will not be wasting my money on another Chi to have it break down after another year when the warranty is out-dated!!

So I just went through my second Chi in two years . . . they break often! I was very disappointed since they are so costly - I would expect this out of a cheaper brand but of course it happened with my $100+ iron . . . my conair curling iron has last 10 years!! I liked the way that it handled but the quality of the product did not last. I am going to try to return mine to the company since the iron broke because of electrical problems - I hope the company has good customer service otherwise I'm done with Chi. =(

I am sixteen years old and i started using the chi about 3 or so years ago.. i bought the 2" one because my hair is pretty thick, long, and curly. i reallllyyy loved this straightener it takes me about 12 minutes to straighten my hair, versus the 40 minutes it takes me with all of my friends straighteners. i reccomend using a brush with straightening it, because it makes it smoother and silkier. the only problem i have had with my chi is that after a year or so it breaks. i thought i was the only person that this was happening to.. but after reading a lot of reviews i see that it happens a lot. such a shame because this straightener really is incredible and does not damage my hair at all. i recently purchased a sedu to see if it would last any longer then my chi, but have not recieved it in the mail yet. so bottom line is that this is a very exelent straightener but kind of a risky purchase seeing is that is breaks after one year.
pretty good

This straightener is actually pretty good! it works alot beetter than those ones sold at like walmart n stuff. it was my 1st expensive iron i bought so i had a hard time decidiing if i should get it or not. it left my hair really soft and silky and it actually lasted through out the whole day... it took me like 20 min or less to straiten my hair and i literally have very thick hair and when i get out of the shower and let it dry it is very very puffy.
i gave it 4 stars cuz it did work good but now it is broken because the cord were it connects to the straitener is broken:( i miss it.. now i am looking 4 a new one and thinking bout getting the Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron (1 1/2")

I'm 15 years old and have super curly hair. i used this straightener for a year and a half and it worked flawlessly. It made my hair soft, silky, and smooth. A few days ago though, the light started blinking and it stopped heating up. I am about to invest in a Sedu, just because I want a change but this Chi is amazinggg, I would recommend it to everyone. Its definetly worth every penny.
The best Iron So far

I have tried many different flat irons before in the past. This one is the best so far. After 2 1/2 months without a perm, using it with the Chi Silk Infusion it makes my coarse african-american hair look like I just got a fresh perm, light and bouncy. I love it. I love the multiple tempature settings as well so I can use the medium setting on my daughters hair.

I've had a 1" turbo for almost 2 1/2 years and it's worked great until a few months ago. I use to use it everyday but lately i only use it about every 2 days but everytime i go out of town and wrap the cord around it, it only works when the cord is in a certain spot. I've talked to other people that have had this problem but it's still a great product and well worth the money.
Excellent

I have kind of thin wavy hair hair and I was given one of these for Christmas and within the year warrenty it just stoppped turning on, pushed the reset button and tried different outlets, everything, so I exchanged it and got another one. The second one never got as hot as it was suppose to (doesn't even steam when it is all the way up), broke my ends (even with heat protectants), makes my hair dull and frizzy, the felt doesn't stay on and has burned me several times, and half the time by hair waves right back out, even with products.
I thought that since the CHI was supposed to be one of the best it was just something I would have to live with or drop a lot of money for a better one.
I tried my friend's babybliss the other day and it worked amazingly, my hair has never looked that good by using a CHI. So I got on folica and started looking for a new flat iron ended up with a Sedu and can't wait to get it and actually have straight hair.
I don't recommend these, don't waste the money or i recommend constantly returning it before the warranty runs out to ensure it will keep working. CHI would have to make some serious improvements to make me want to even thing about buying another one of their products

I bought my Chi Turbo from Folica Dec '07(best price!). I was amazed at how well it worked with getting my curly/wavy/heavy/course hair so straight and smooth, rather quickly I must add.
But one day in April '08 I started to use it before work and BAM! It quit working. I had to speed down to another store and buy another one before work ! I still have it and think there is a short in the cord.I turned it on the next day to test it,it came on when I fooled around w/ the cord. It's too expensive to break after 1.5 years. But it is by far the BEST iron I have ever had.
The best money spent

I bought my chi about 4 years ago and it is STILL working like it did four years ago. With hair halfway down my back, and about thick as a horses tail made my hair sooooooooo soft and shiny and extremly striaght. I have never gotten so much use out of one thing for this long of a time. :]
Best straightener for four years!

I bought my Chi Turbo in 2004 and it worked wonders on my hair and on everyone else who go to use it. Amazing! The reason I enjoyed it so much is because I have brunette and blonde hair, and I was able to change the heat settings to be less hot on my blonde parts. Anyway, this was a wonderful product! Went through a tough four years.

Loved it, worked great until it broke only three months after I got it. I think a product that cost over $100 should defenitely last longer than 3 months, and that's taking good care of it.

I started the hair straightening revolution among my friends. I have really thick, curly hair and I wanted a change without having to go to the salon to get it done. I had a superstar hair straightener that I purchased AGES ago and it just recently broke. My friend fell in love with hair straighteners and asked for one for her birthday. her mother bought her a chi (she didn't know the kind I had. the other day while getting ready for a party for someone special I asked to borrow her straightener and it has been love ever since for me and my chi :) It makes my hair perfectly staight without friz. love it. worth every dime. Trust me i am really picky when it comes to things I claim to love. Spoil yourself...get a chi!!!!
Worth the money!!!

I just used my new turbo chi for the first time! My hair looks great. With my old straightener it would take FOREVER to straighten my wavy hair and I would get so frustrated.. but with my chi, it only took 5 mins! I love this thing! Don't listen to the people who say its horrible!
Ok but not great

I tried this flat iron solia and own a sedu.
Years ago when ceramic flat irons came onto the scene it was all about CHI CHI CHI. I was going to buy one until I came to this website and read reviews about its unrealiability. I used my co-worker's chi and it was nice BUT it pulled on the hair and it dind't glide that smoothly.
So I somehow found this website and bought a sedu which to me has comprable results but is a little smoother and softer, doesn't pull, and best of all there were no bad reviews about it dying out months into ownership.
Now I love my Sedu but expensive isn't always better. If I was going to reccomend a flat iron to someone I would say Solia I feel that its basically a less expensive version of sedu. I plan to get a solia because I need a 1inch to create flips and that is hard to do with a 1.5 inch flat iron.
Whatever you choose just take your time to research. Maybe the $30 one at wal-mart gets the job done for you or maybe the $100 one works better for your hair. But I would highly reccomend folica good customer services, good promotions, and nice perks like free shipping over $70
CHI Made My Hair Dry!

I'm sorry, but I really wanted to like the CHI Turbo flat iron. I've heard so many good reviews that I thought I would give it a try in December '07. I have been using it for a few months now. My hair is always dry after all that time spent flat ironing. It's so dry that even the products (serums, oils) that I put in afterwards don't seem to work. I even started to question the heat protection products that I was using. I basically used almost every product that you can think of like CHI serum, Redken and a few other products, and my hair would still be dry afterwards. I want sleek and shine hair, and CHI just doesn't give that to me.
After a little evaluation and some research I found that there were some people with my hair type(4a/b hair and African American) who feel the same way and didn't get the same results. I gave up on this iron, and it is now sitting on my shelf. I recently ordered a Solia flat iron. I hope this flat iron works well based on the reviews. If it doesn't work out well then I will try the Sedu. I just don't want to put my hair through the CHI like experience again.
