I bought my chi about 4 years ago and it is STILL working like it did four years ago. With hair halfway down my back, and about thick as a horses tail made my hair sooooooooo soft and shiny and extremly striaght. I have never gotten so much use out of one thing for this long of a time. :]
Best straightener for four years!

I bought my Chi Turbo in 2004 and it worked wonders on my hair and on everyone else who go to use it. Amazing! The reason I enjoyed it so much is because I have brunette and blonde hair, and I was able to change the heat settings to be less hot on my blonde parts. Anyway, this was a wonderful product! Went through a tough four years.

Loved it, worked great until it broke only three months after I got it. I think a product that cost over $100 should defenitely last longer than 3 months, and that's taking good care of it.
LOVE MY CHI!!!

I started the hair straightening revolution among my friends. I have really thick, curly hair and I wanted a change without having to go to the salon to get it done. I had a superstar hair straightener that I purchased AGES ago and it just recently broke. My friend fell in love with hair straighteners and asked for one for her birthday. her mother bought her a chi (she didn't know the kind I had. the other day while getting ready for a party for someone special I asked to borrow her straightener and it has been love ever since for me and my chi :) It makes my hair perfectly staight without friz. love it. worth every dime. Trust me i am really picky when it comes to things I claim to love. Spoil yourself...get a chi!!!!
Worth the money!!!

I just used my new turbo chi for the first time! My hair looks great. With my old straightener it would take FOREVER to straighten my wavy hair and I would get so frustrated.. but with my chi, it only took 5 mins! I love this thing! Don't listen to the people who say its horrible!
Ok but not great

I tried this flat iron solia and own a sedu.
Years ago when ceramic flat irons came onto the scene it was all about CHI CHI CHI. I was going to buy one until I came to this website and read reviews about its unrealiability. I used my co-worker's chi and it was nice BUT it pulled on the hair and it dind't glide that smoothly.
So I somehow found this website and bought a sedu which to me has comprable results but is a little smoother and softer, doesn't pull, and best of all there were no bad reviews about it dying out months into ownership.
Now I love my Sedu but expensive isn't always better. If I was going to reccomend a flat iron to someone I would say Solia I feel that its basically a less expensive version of sedu. I plan to get a solia because I need a 1inch to create flips and that is hard to do with a 1.5 inch flat iron.
Whatever you choose just take your time to research. Maybe the $30 one at wal-mart gets the job done for you or maybe the $100 one works better for your hair. But I would highly reccomend folica good customer services, good promotions, and nice perks like free shipping over $70
CHI Made My Hair Dry!

I'm sorry, but I really wanted to like the CHI Turbo flat iron. I've heard so many good reviews that I thought I would give it a try in December '07. I have been using it for a few months now. My hair is always dry after all that time spent flat ironing. It's so dry that even the products (serums, oils) that I put in afterwards don't seem to work. I even started to question the heat protection products that I was using. I basically used almost every product that you can think of like CHI serum, Redken and a few other products, and my hair would still be dry afterwards. I want sleek and shine hair, and CHI just doesn't give that to me.
After a little evaluation and some research I found that there were some people with my hair type(4a/b hair and African American) who feel the same way and didn't get the same results. I gave up on this iron, and it is now sitting on my shelf. I recently ordered a Solia flat iron. I hope this flat iron works well based on the reviews. If it doesn't work out well then I will try the Sedu. I just don't want to put my hair through the CHI like experience again.

My hair is still frizzy. It takes forever, even after 10 swipes my hair still frizzed up. My 70.00 iron last year was WWAAAYYY better than the Chi. What the hell $170.00 (from salon) for this iron? NOT worth. Im glad I saved my receipt cause this will be RETURNED. Im African-American/ German, some african american girls were RIGHT, CHI AINT WORTH it for OUR hair types. They say Sedu suppose to be real good. Personally, I never tried it but I will give it a shot.

I have tried so many cheaper products but nothing straightens my hair and leaves it looking so natural as the chi. I have bought one for my daugher as well and she loves it. If you take care of it, it lasts a long time (don't roll the cord).

I bought this product, because I was told that the Chi iron would not dry my hair out like other styling tools..WRONG..my hair was so dry and rough after using it and it. My friend bought a cheap iron from Walmart and when I used it I felt soooo cheated because I had spent so much money on the CHI iron and the results with the cheaper iron were 10x better. Well I guess I've learned my lesson: Expensive is not always better!

When I first got the Chi turbo i was soo excited, because i heard it was the best flat iron money could buy. I had all these expectations that it was going to cut down on the time and make my hair smoother, shinier, and flatter. Before that i had a FH1, that was working on an inklet of power and it still did a better job than the chi turbo. Not only did it acutally cook and fry my hair, destroyed my ends, and add on to my split end count it took just as long to straighten as a typical conair or hot tools flat iron, with really upsetting results. But, my solia is arriving soon and many say that it's sooo much better so i can't wait to see how it works!

I don't think this iron is as great as everyone claims it to be. It works well but I've had better. Perhaps if the customer service I received was better, I would be more excited about the product.
Hasn't even lasted 6 months

If there was a rating for no stars that's what i would choose..it worked great up until the 5th month of use. I'm extemely disapointed after my mother dropped her money into it for my graduation gift. I still have straightners from walmart that have out lasted it...
If i (or anyone else for that mater) are going to spend that much money on a straightener...i expect it to last a year...

I used my cousin's chi turbo and my hair looked shinier, healthier and straighter. It cut down on the amount of time it took to do my hair also. I usually spend about 30 minutes doing my hair, but this only took about 10 minutes. There were less split ends in my hair too. I bought my own and it is coming in a couple of days. I can't wait because I already know how good it is. My cousin has had her's for a couple of years with no problems. So from what i know, it is a great buy. I recomend also buying a heat protector spray for your hair. You spray it on before you straightn and it protects your hair from being damaged, even though it wont get that damaged in the first place because of the chi's ceramic plates. Overal i think it will be a GREAT BUY!

I was always discouraged using many other flat irons. This one has worked wonderfully for me. I would recommend it to anyone. It is smooth. It heats up quickly. It doesn't take up a whole lot of space. Altogether I have been very pleased with this iron.

I love this straightener, it is the best I have ever used. I have long wavy/frizzy hair and I can get my hair stick straight in 15 minutes for a quick job, a few mins longer when I want it to be perfect. I definitely recommend it!
