CHI vs SEDU vs SOLIA

I tried the Solia 1-3/4 tourmaline, Sedu 1-1/2 tourmaline, and the Chi Turbo, and the CHI was not nearly as good. I tried the CHI first and thought it was awesome, but when I used the other two, I quickly changed my opinion. The Solia and Sedu both left my hair much silkier than the CHI is much less time, and the CHI didnt make my hair look as sleek. Between the three I liked the Solia best. It has a higher temp than the other two, so it works a lot faster, and leaves your hair silky in ONE stroke.

Okay first of all, I would have to say that by reading others' reviews and due to my own experiences, this flat iron's effectivness may just depend on your hair type. I have never had any problems with my Chi. I actually had the red limited edition one that I gave to my sister and she has had it for over 2 years. I have had this one for over a year and a half. I also know 2 other people in my family who have had their's for over two years. Either other people received a faulty one or they just don't take care of it as they should. The thing about it is, is that when you go to a salon and they use a Chi flat iron on your hair, they will also probably use a good quality shampoo/conditioner and also other hair products like Biosilk, Redken Antisnap, a heat protector, etc. It doesn't matter what flat iron you use, you always get better results when you combine it with some really great hair products. I have fine, naturally curly hair and it has always worked great on my hair. I use Biosilk, Redken Antisnap, and Redken Align 12. The CHI has still always worked better for me than other flat irons that would break or "fry" my hair. Just make sure that you don't wrap the cord around the iron as it tells you in the instructions. Just take care of it. (Be gentle with it) :) And you will mostly likely have no problems with it. Just keep in mind that if you heatstyle your hair almost everyday with the best or worst quality tools, you will definitely need some really good hair products to keep your hair from drying out. Now, my face expression in my photo may seem a little weird..lol, but I just wanted you to see my hair and what the Chi does for me.
not bad

This was my first expensive straightener I bought, and I was very satisfied since I'd only had cheap drugstore ones to compare it to. Unfortunately, I had to take it back and exchange it because the red felt started peeling and sometimes I had to turn the cord in a certain direction to get it to stay on. Luckily my warrenty wasn't up. However, with the replacement one, after several months there was a hole in the cord and it was sparking, which made me very nervous. I bought a third one, the Bling CHI (limited edition), and had it for about 8 months when it too started sparking..only this time on the On/Off switch, right next to my face!! This straightener did an amazing job straightening my stubborn curly and frizzy hair in a short amount of time and making it stay that way, even in humid weather (see pics above; I'm on the left in the top one) but I think it should have more than a one-year warrenty for as often as it breaks and as much as it costs.
Still love it

I prefer the regular CHI iron to the Turbo, but mine was a gift 2 years ago and I'm totally happy with it. I have the kinkiest tangliest curly hair you can imagine and I have had it all my life and it wasn't until I got a CHI iron that I discovered my "white girl hair" as me and my friends call it. It lifts with the slightest breeze, isnt heavy, and I don't have to use chemical relaxers. I adore my CHI. and with my old flat irons it was a 2 hour + ordeal to straighten my hair, and now I can get it done in about 30-40 minutes which may seem like a long time but when you have hair like mine it is a flash. I love it!!
Great! Until it breaks a year later...

This is the second Chi straightener I have had. My sister has had about four Chi straighteners. Every Chi straightener we have had broke after a year - every single one. We bought different ones every time. Every time - they broke. Mine has a short or something. It gets a little bit hot and then quits. The light blinks, too (it's supposed to just stay on). I LOVE the Chi straightener. It does a great job. I would say that this Chi doesn't get as hot as the original Chi I had. I am just very disappointed that it broke, like all the others. It's kind of an expensive product, so replacing it really irritates me. So. Just so you know. If you buy this Chi - or any other Chi - it will most likely break after one year - it may even last a year and a half. Woohoo.
It's okay but........

I am an African American woman with natural curly hair that recently purchased the Turbo Chi 1 inch. In my opinion it is okay. I had my stylist (who uses the original 1 inch Chi) to use both irons to make a comparison, she stated that the Original one gets hotter than the Turbo (even though we put the Turbo on the highest setting, the Orginal doesn't have a setting switch) but she said it does the job however I would have to go over my hair about 2 to 3 times to get the same affect. Also she stated that individuals with fine hair may benefit from the Turbo. I may purchase the Original or another one (Sedu) in the future but I'm sticking with mine!!!!

I bought the Solia flat iron first. I was ver satisfied with the results. It is easy to use and glides through my hair leaving it shiny and FLAT. My sister works at a hair salon and told me that all the hair stylists use Chi and said it was the best. So I bought the Chi even though I was happy with the Solia flat iron. Wow! what a difference. The Chi did not glide easy through my hair nor did it make it flat or shiny. I used the chi on one side of my head and the solia on the other. The Winner is Solia!! hand down. I have done this several times using various flat iron protecting products all with the same result. My hair has a year old perm and is colored every 6 weeks. The Solia was kind to my hair, the Chi fryed my hair ends which I had trimmed off. As everything in life what is good for one may not be good for another. The solia worked for my hair
Yea it works for me, and my hair needs alot to get it to cooperate.

This prodyct was really good, I hope it last long though, Ihear it goes out after a few weeks, but I only used it once and it was great!!! I dont need to use several steps, now I just blow dry, then straighten its awesome!! My picture shows what the CHI did for my hair for a photoshoot! It was soo straight!
Try Sedu or Croc

I have bought three Chi flat irons in my lifetime. Every single one of them has died right after a year of use. I will never waste my money on another Chi product. Instead i've bought both a Sedu straightener and was given a Croc. Both work FABULOUS and have left my hair shinier and healthier than the damage the CHI did. Both of those brands have lasted over two years so far, and i'm going to be buying another updated Croc from this site.

I got my CHI for Christmas 2 years and was really excited about it! I had spent tons of time reading reviews before picking this iron. I loved the results that I got and my hair was always pin straight when I used this iron, but to my dismay, the iron began to short circuit in August so only about 1.5 years after I got it. I know that I used it several times a week, but I expected something of this quality to last longer.
SO many problems

Some times it gets hot(when at maximum temp.) if the cord is in the perfect possion. But most of the time is does not work. I have had 2 in the past three years and both have broken. Just purchased the Solia flat iron today, hoping it works better.

Once my friend used her chi on my hair I wanted one soo bad. I am 1/2 African America 1/2 Puerto Rican and have THICK, curly hair. I came upon this website and with great prices I bought myself this Chi turbo (Mine was not digital) It was the best straightener I have ever bought. I use it everyday. Gets my hair done really fast in about 45 minute to an 1 hour. Always silky smooth. Lasted me a Year and 5 months and is now just statring to die I was pretty angry about that but it's still a great straightener. Would have given it a 5 if it lasted longer. I'm going to try a Solia now which i'm very skeptical about but if i don't like it i'm going back to CHI. I would definitly recommend this product to anyone!
Great flat iron, but very fragile!

My hair is normal (not too thick), shoulder length with a natural wave. I began using my CHI Turbo iron daily about a year ago. It works very well, does not burn my hair or pull. It glides smoothly, and I can have my hair straightened in about 15 minutes! However, two days ago, my CHI iron stopped reaching full temp and now will only stay warm for about 3-4 minutes. I take meticulous care of my CHI, unplugging it immediately after use, keeping the plates clean with the recommended plate cleaner, and have never dropped or traveled with it. I was so disappointed when it stopped working, and considered purchasing another until I read the reviews stating the same issues I've had. Because of this, coupled with difficult CHI warrenty standards, I will be trying another brand. However, I LOVE my CHI Turbo hair dryer. It's quiet, efficient, and leaves my hair soft and tangle-free! Also, the hair care products are great, too!

I've had my chi turbo for a year and a half. It has worked great up until a few weeks ago. It has started to freak out and not heat up or not turn on. I think this is a great product but i thought that people should know that it isn't always perfect. Also i have used my friends chi's and they aren't the turbo version, and they work just as good and i would not reccomend spending the extra money to get the turbo.
Traveling Chi

I purchased my Chi about 1 year prior to receiving my job as a flight attendant. At my company, we had to fly all over the world, so that came with having to use a multiple amount of converters. We had spent most of our time in and out of Germany and Kuwait. Most of the girls on my crew ended up buying an additional flat iron that would work in the international plugs. That means they were carrying around 3 different flat irons. With my Chi, I didn't have to do that. I would plug in the converter plug and my Chi would work. It usually got a bit hotter than it normally would in the states, but other than that, I had no problems. Some of the girls that would use their flat irons from the states, that wasn't a Chi, would burn off pieces of their hair due to the iron getting too hot. The Chi never let me down. It has now been about 6 years with my Chi and it is about time to buy a new one, but I know I got my money's worth. The only problem I have with this one is that I wish it would get a bit hotter. Other than that, I love it!
Agreed.

I love this hair straightener, it is the only one of its kind that makes my hair silky and soft. After exactly three years, it puttered out and stopped heating up like it was supposed to. This frustrates me as it is an expensive tool. I may look at other brands to see if they last longer than the Chi.
i love it

I have very normal hair. Pretty easy to straighten, if I air dry it, it gets a tad wavy and a little poofy (I live in south Texas so the humidity does that)but not bad. I bought this iron about a year ago and it worked great! One morning, as usual, I go to turn my iron on, and it's shorting out!! The on light was flickering and the plates never got hot!! I was so upset! After reading other reviews, I realized this happens to alot of the Chi irons right around the year mark... ironically right after the warranty is up!! So I replaced my beloved Chi with a Solia iron and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! I also love the 2 year warranty Solia comes with!!
I hate this product.

I bought this to replace my regular CHI iron that broke.
It SUCKS.
It is no way as hot as the regular CHI.
I thought it was me, but my daughter tried it also, and she concurred.
I purchased another regular CHI.
The only problem is now it has a plug with a GFI, so it's a problem with a 2-plug socket, as it only plugs in one way.
