Half broke

We bought a CHI from a salon in Austin and after 3 days of use only one plate would work!So basically you can only fry one side of your hair at a time! We tried to return it but the salon had a no return policy. We bought another one and it just fried our hair the more we used it (3 months). We are going to buy a Sedu soon so thats what I recomend right now.

My hair was so frizzy and is very thick and dry, my hair dresser used the iron on my hair and it looks totally different, the trick to have long lasting soft hair is to spray biosilk on your hair while using the iron and it stays soft and flat for days

I have had my CHI now over a year. It worked great until the swivel cord connector inside the unit failed. I am still looking for replacement parts. I paid $160 and I would not recomend buying this.
The CHI Flatiron is the BEST!

I borrowed my sister's CHI 1" Flatiron and I let ALL of my friends, boss, and other ladies in my building try it! We all love it so much and at least 10 more people are going out to buy them because they loved my hair and loved theirs when they tried it! I would recommend this straightener to anyone and it is definitely well worth the money! My sister has had hers for 6 months and it is still working great! I gotta say though, even if it did break down every six months it is worth the money to replace it. I have naturally wavy hair so I can scrunch it and make it curly or use a brush to blow it out with a hairdryer, but the CHI makes my hair look an inch longer and so smooth even in the summer heat and humidity!
If you are thinking of buying a CHI, think no more! It is the best flatiron out there!

I'm a stylist and I absolutely love the CHI flat iron! Not only do I use it on my beloved clients, but I have a personal attachment to this useful tool. This flat iron is distinctive because the plate is so smooth. The iron heats up within seconds, unlike others where you have to wait 2-3 minutes and even then it's just warm. This iron gets REALLY HOT and I love it! It's gotten the most resistant, natural, kinky, and rough hair types/textures beautiful, silk, soft, and shiny results. I love that you can get so close to the scalp. And once you become skilled with it, it gives you great body and curls! I highligh recommend! I've used on Asian, Caucasian, and I am African American. It works on both relaxed and natural virgin hair (no color/no chemicals) Great if you just want to keep your hair natural but you want to wear it safe. No need to relax with this handy dandy flat iron! Just be sure to let hair safely air dry or go under the hooded dryer or blow dry hair with hand blow-dryer before you start ironing!

gosh oh this is the best straightner ever!!! all the cheap gross conair ones are so bad for your hair! this chi one works so well- i used it everyday. only problem is-be careful with it bc i broke mine. but otherwise it works really well bc i have curly and wavy hair and this straightens it so well that it makes my hair look so pretty. god i love it! now i just wish it wasnt so expensive bc i have to buy a new one!

My hair has never looked better... Where was this when I was 16???? I get compliments on my hair all the time now.
I have a new relationship with my hair now.
I am saving my receipt- just in case it breaks-
I might even by a back up.

I loved the CHI when I first got it, but after 8 months, it all of a sudden stopped working. The only way it will turn on is if I push down towards the left end of one of the plates with my fingers. Once I stop holding it down with my fingers, it turns off. How nice... I would have to burn my fingers to turn on the iron; very nice... NOT! DO NOT BUY A CHI!! I just ordered a SEDU 1.5" iron. According to the SEDU's reviews, I think I'm going to like it much better than the CHI, and it will most likely last longer than the CHI.

I'm an African American with natural (4a/b - curly/kinky) hair. I press my hair every two weeks and thought the CHI would work great for me. I bought it, but unfortunately had to return it. Why? Because it didn't have HEAT settings. There is no way I can use a flat iron that doesn't have heat settings. I was soooo afraid of scorching my hair. Now I will say that the CHI obviously does straighten well. But if you're worried about heat damage...don't buy this iron. I decided on the Sedu 1.5 inch instead. Just got it in today from Folica. I'll let you all know how it goes.

This is a warning to ALL CONSUMERS!!
I have worked for Farouk Systems and let me tell you, we kept a log (of over 400 a day) of consumers who's CHI dryer/iron have broken. And when you call they say, "You'll have to send your iron to the Houston location and send a check of $15..." all this CAN BE WAIVED if you keep whining! A consumer shouldn't pay anything if it's a manufacture defect!!! Well, of course, I worked for them, so I couldn't say anything.
All CHI products (meaning DRYERS and IRONS) are not worth what they cost! Material is made from China! Cheap! Plates also!
Do NOT purchase a CHI iron because it WILL break in a short perion of time (and I'm not talking about a year, I'm talking about a month... if you're luck to last that long.) What the company wants is a magical iron to straighten the hair and when it breaks, you'll buy it because it does wonders. And Yes... it does.
The Manager of Customers Service is PAULA... she's only 28 years old! Young! She doesn't know anything about real customer service. This company is VERY fake and unfortunately, I worked there. I quit and went to Hewlet Packard and at least here, their stuff works until about 2 or 3 years. Oh yeah, computers are also being built to last 2 years... because they company loses money when they are durable and no one keeps buying. So, it's just an UNFAIR business.

I LOVE MY CHI CERAMIC FLAT IRON STRAIGHTENER! My hair feels so soft, manageable, and STRAIGHT! If you've been wanting to have that sleek, shiny, beautiful straight hair you've got to purchase this CHI flat iron......it's the best. I have no complaints about it.

I have been using the chi now for about 4 months and i dont have any complaints. my friend started me on it and now i have one of my own, im mixed so i have really curly and frizzy hair, i paid at expensive salons for top of the line treatments and the best hair dressers and my hair looked great until i walked outside, but when i tried the chi it was a miracle!!! not even with a little rain did my hair go frizzy on me, it stays straight for a week or until i wash it. To me the chi is the best out there and i recommended it to everyone!

I have had my Chi iron for 2 years now. Got it from a real hair care store. Absolutely NO problems!! Is the greatest investment I have made and I just love it to death!! Can't get enough of how great it works and I am black with pretty curly hair. My friends love it too! How great is that=)

I bought the CHI back in 2002 and have had no problems at all. Still gets HOT really fast and the Temp seems to be the same now as when I first bought it! Best $100 I ever spent!! I love the CHI! Im sorry to hear it has failed for others. : (
Buy a Sedu instead!!

CHI is great when it works, but after 6 months to a year it will gradually quit. I hate this thing. I went through 2 in 2 years and will never buy another. I just bought the Sedu after reading great reviews. It works exactly like my CHI did on good days, and from what others have said, will keep working for many more years.

I have had my CHI for 2 years now and i have curly/ wavy hair. I have owned previous straightners yet they break within less of a year. So after i bought the CHI i have been waiting for it to break like the previous yet it still works like the day i got it. I staighten my hair every day before i go to school and also on the weekend and it still leaves my hair silky and strait. Another thing i would like to brag about is that living in Southeast Texas it is extremly humid, yet my hair doesnt curl with the use of this straightner after i step outside. Overall i believe this is the best straitghtner available.

WOW...Is the first word that comes to mind. I must say that this is a Wonderful Tool! Don't get me wrong I was very skeptical to dish out the $ 112 Bucks but let me tell you, it is the best $$$$$ I have yet to spend. I used to always want to have Jennifer Anison's Beautiful Straight hair but was born with that wavy fluffy hair that gets frizzy with any hint of bad weather and at the beach...just forget about it. But now...BAD weather who cares, my hair never frizzes and it looks Beautiful. BAD HAIR DAYS ARE GONE FOREVER! Just make sure to use some kind of heat protector on your hair before you blow dry. I have a natural wave to my hair and plus I have layers too and I used a couple different straightening irons and got so fed up that I didnt care about paying $112.00 dollars for the Folica Iron. Let me tell you...this iron is the best invention ever! After i straighten my hair, it feels smooth and silky and healthy and it looks like i just got a haircut! It makes my hair look freshly cut. I have been meaning to write you guys a letter about this iron because im love it so much. It makes my mornings so much easier! I can't get over how much i love this iron and how it makes my hair look. I get compliments all the time. Thank you! Its well worth the money!!
