CHI flat irons are some of the best heat styling tools available. They have neutralizing ions, which help reduce frizz and protect against humidity. I don't know why people end up needing a new after 6 months but swear they are not doing anything wrong... They are NOT caring for it correctly if they need to replace it that often. I've had mine for almost 3 years now, and it works the same as it always has. If you wrap the cord around the flat iron when it's not in use, that causes shorts. You are NEVER supposed to do that. Not even loosely. Most people end up doing that at some point or another, and that's why they end up destroying their irons unintentionally and unknowingly.
I've added a couple pictures of some clients I've had for cuts, color, highlighting, lowlighting, etc... And flat ironing with a CHI iron. The style in the first picture was done with a CHI iron, not a curling iron. The second picture is just someone's hair completely straight, flat ironed with the CHI.

I have very very wavy/curly/frizzy Mexican Hair haha thats the best way to put it. This Iron didn't do very good when I had long hair I live in Arkansas (humidity capital of the world I swear) and so my hair would look AWESOME inside and the minute I stepped outside it would just turn into a big ball of frizz and no matter how much product I put in my hair it would still frizz out. When I got my hair cut off (from the middle of my back to a 1/2 inch below my chin or so) it worked wonders I think that was partially due to the hair cut etc. I don't have bad hair, my stylist always goes on and on about my beautiful, healthy, black hair but it didn't do much for frizz. Over thanksgiving I was cooking dinner and straightening my hair inbetween and I left it on for about 20-25 minutes and it MELTED. I don't know about you but I don't think that should have messed it up - it normally took my short hair 15 minutes to get all nice and straight. My brother tried to fix it but it was pretty much runied and I haven't bought another one since - when he opened it up he said it looked pretty cheap. Sorry for the goofy pictures but its all I could find, the first one is of my natural frizzy curly hair and the second one is straightened with the chi and if you look you can still see how poofy/frizzy my hair is at the bottom.

Chi is the BEST Flat Iron on the market. The others can't compare. Hair looks professionally done every time! Cost on your website beats the retail stores. Won't go back to the any other irons.
chi is the best!

I ordered it in october and loved it. I am quite afraid of it breaking though, i've read some "this thing breaks reviews" and I rely on this thing!
It takes me about 25 minutes to straighten my insanely curly shoulder blade length hair. It does leave my hair a tad frizzy with some fly aways but that is easily fixed with the Chi Silk Infusion Serum and Sebastian Threads gel (amazing go get it!!!) The only thing though is sometimes it makes my bangs feel a little greasy but that might just be my imagination ;) Love the product and I love how lightweight and thin it is.
WOW!!!

First of all, let me say that NO ONE should ever buy a cheap drug store flat iron. They'll destroy ANY kind of hair. People w/thin hair are NOT blessed. My sister has incredibly thin hair and so does my best friend. It may SEEM like it makes styling easier, but they have just as many problems as we do with our thick hair. That said, I LOVE Chi flat irons. Everyone should own one. My hair dresser has three of them and she's used all of them on my hair SEVERAL times. She could straighten it comepletely in about 10-15 minutes, and my hair was down to my rear end! I just recently got it all chopped off. The Chi makes it so easy to flip out my ends, straighten it comepletely flat, or even give my crown some height when I need it. I had an "upper scale" department store model that I paid almost $70 for that did "OK", but after years of wishing I had a Chi, I'm finally biting the bullet and buying one for myself. My old one cost me a lot of extra money getting my hair trimmed more often because of the damage, and that's WITH a thermal styling spray, which you should ALWAYS use. I wouldn't buy anything other than the Chi. I've used other stylists who've used other irons and I prefer the results I get when my stylist uses her Chi. Everything you buy has the potential to malfunction. I'm the queen of complaining. I've learned that calling or writing to the company can go a long way, or even just saving your receipt and speaking to the manager in the store where you buy things can help. It doesn't hurt to try. Also, I always check to see if things have a warranty. I called my stylist today. It costs the salons $120+ to order this model and have it shipped to them and they get a stylist's discount! It's worth it to buy one here, I think. I can't wait until mine arrives!!! The first pic was a couple years ago. That's my natural curl. The second pic was the day I had my hair cut and straightened with my stylist's Chi.
Failed to Impress....

A few years ago, I would've been thrilled to have this straightener. However, my Chi failed to impress me.
I used to own a Sedu and I loved it. I used it everyday on my thick very curly hair and it never damaged and always stayed smooth and straight. After going through three Wal-Mart straighteners it was a miracle. Then when it broke after two years of use, my mother ordered me this Chi straightener.
It seems to do a fairly good job at first, but it takes all of the volume out of my hair. Even worse, it takes me ten minutes longer than my Sedu did, my hair ALWAYS begins to curl just fifteen minutes after I straighten it even with a generous amount of product (touch-ups are little help), and my hair tends to feel slightly damaged after each use.
I gave Chi a chance but I think I'm ready to go back to my Sedu. It's an okay straightener, but it's no miracle.

I recently went on a cruise and left my chi iron. I was so upset when I realized what I had done. I have never felt so much withdrawal from the loss of a hair styler. :) I have naturally curly hair and this iron is the only one that can straighten my hair to my liking. I am purchasing the original chi value pack from the website right after this review. I promise you won't be disappointed and you will be a "CHI ADDICT" for life if you purchase one!
It's great.

I love this product, but mine doesn't have a reset button it just comes as a switch, I am afraid if it stops working then I won't even be able to restart.
I use the Chi straigtner with the biosilk serum it works great and I love the way my hair smells. You should only buy this product if you have thick/coarse/curly hair because it heats up very well.
If you have thin hair any more wal-mart brand would do. Buying the Chi will only make your hair thinner and burnt.

I was extremely happy when I got this flat iron in the mail. It was the first one I really invested in that was higher in price than other cheaper ones I own. It worked great for about a month and then the red light which indicates it is on stopped lighting up. (so it stopped heating up) So I pulled out the original box it came in to send it back and get it replacement (even though at this point I really would rather a different product) and I have to pay to ship it back to CHI AND pay $15 for processing and for them to ship a replacement. SO frustrated.

i ordered this flat iron a few months ago, and after using other kinds of flat irons i was thinking it was my hair that was just frizzy and would always be that way... until i tried this iron.. then i fell in love with it.. i can flat iron my hair in minutes, and each section only has to pass through the iron ONCE!! and is perfectly pin straight and silky smooth.. NO MORE FRIZZIES!!!!! this iron is a god send!
great straightener, broke after one year.

so i got my chi, which i LOVED. it straightened well, and, living near galveston island, humidity is a BIG problem. my hair is naturally thick and wavy/curly, and it still kept my hair looking nice for the most part, but after 12.5 months, it broke! and it was a couple weeks after the warranty was up, so i couldnt get another one! i was upset, considering i paid $150 on it.
i <3 my chi!

I have had the CHI iron for about two months now,and I absoluteley love it. Its great for striaghtening, and you can also curl with it too. I ve read alot of bad reviews, but therye complaining about it breaking within a few months. The reason why therye irons are breaking is because they are wrapping the cord around it to keep it neater. Wrapping the cord around your iron damages the electrical current, causing the CHI to stop working. Make sure you use heat protection products so you can get smooth shiny hair. I reccomend the CHI.
