Ok, I bought this iron because people raved and raved about it. I previously owned a SEDU that broke on me. Upon getting the CHI, I was surprised to see that there was no way to control the temperature. This scared me a lil but decided to keep it since the reviews are always great. It DOES straighten well, because it gets SOOO hot. But is this extreme heat good for your hair? NO!
Well I was using it this morning, has just turned it on and applied it to a small section at the front of my head. As soon as it clamped on my hair I heard a singeing noise. I quickly took it off and my hair had been burned off! The hair that was still there was all crunchy and when i touched it began to break off. For reference, I have wavy thin-medium thickness hair. If you do not have thick coarse hair, be very careful with this product! It had never actual burned my hair before but once is once too many! One thing i had noticed that I didn't like was the steam/smoke that would come off of my hair when the iron was applied, that is never a good sign! I will never use this thing again and order an iron without a temperature control.

I've been very pleased with this product. I started using it in 1999, unfortunatedly, one of my kids got to my other one, dropped it, and the plate fell,which caused me to start searching. That's when I met you guys. The product was/is the absolute same, only less money. I've been spreading the word about you, and your products. I don't don't know what'd I would do without my CHI. Thanks!!!

My hair straightner was shipped quickly and safely. Arrived ready to go. I didn't think a quality straighter would be much different from my old one. I was wrong. It does work best now that I've purchased Chi protectant. I would use folica again and purchase another Chi product.

I have one of these and love it ~ makes my wavy hair perfectly straight even in this high humidity state I live in. However, I bought one for my mom for her birthday last month and her's quit working after 2 times!

I absolutely love this straightner. I love how small it is and how easy it is to reach the root of my hair and behind my ears. It never pulls at my hair. It is amazing!

I was disappointed that the first Chi iron shipped to me did not heat up properly..it would have been nice if it was thoroughly checked before shipping as I was not able to style my hair for a major special occassion and very upset I had to pay to ship it back via UPS by the time I did that my savings was not a savings anymore So far the second iron shipped has worked but it would have been so much more pleasant had the first one worked or Folica paid for me to ship back and sent a little something extra for my returning item troubles...I also felt like the cust. svc. reps didn't care about my problem and I was on hold a good while to voice my concerns on it. Not sure if I will use the company again or not unless they redeem themselves to me.
I wouldn't order it again

I ordered the CHI and I got it used it once and it quit, I called CS and they sent me a new one. I got it a week later used it TWICE and it quit!! I called AGAIN for the 3rd time and got it and this one FINALLY works. I had to send two back and get a 3rd one. I love it once I got one that worked. But I will never order another one again based on the trouble I had getting one to actually work!

I recommend this CHI to ANYONE! I LOVE IT!! My wavy frizzy hair is now straight and tame, and I get compliments constantly. I wish I would have bought one 10 years ago. I had purchased a Revlon previously - total waste of $30!! You get what you pay for, and with the CHI, you get amazing results!

never order from this company, they lie and tell you that your product is out of stock. Then they get your credit card and all the sudden you're 800 in debt due to charges from some made up company in another state. DO NOT USE FOLICA!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRENDOUS! LEGAL ACTION IS IN PROCESS!

I read all the reviews on all the different flat-irons before buying the Original Chi iron. I had one of the first ones out 9 yrs ago and loved it. I used it virtually every day for 9 years before it finally gave up on me. I thought long and hard about maybe buying one of the newer, fancier models, but on the new irons, there are more components that can break down, so I just went ahead and bought the original and I am happy I did. No problems with the Iron, and Folica responded promptly with my questions to them prior to buying. If this one does not last another 9 years, I still would probobly buy this one again.

I love this flat iron! It gets hot in 1 minute or less. It is very light weight and so easy to use. In the store this runs for $159 and at www.folica it is $79.99. It is a steal! A must buy for everyone!

My Chi worked fine for the first year or so, and then stopped being so great. I love the way it works, but after a few months the cord completely broke in half. Poor manufacturing, great results. If only it wouldn't break so often, I would love this product immensely. I don't recommend it to every day users, but if you just straighten in every now and then it should be fine.
This flat iron is well worth the money.

This flat iron is great. The price is great at folica as well. I saw it for much more everywhere else. The only problem I see with it is that I wish it had an auto off switch. My daughter forgets to turn it off. It heats quickly though, so that helps a lot.

My CHI never worked properly! When I would plug it in, it wouldn't turn on. I had to jiggle the plug for a while to get it work. The few times I got it to turn on, however, it did work quite nicely.

I got exactly what I wanted and only a CHI straigtener works great on my hair. My hair is so thick and frizzy and needs extreme heat to be relaxed. The amount spent is WELL worth it!!

I purchased the CHI for my daughters birthday, her face lit up like it was Christmas. It arrived on time, she used it as soon as she could get it out of the box and plug it in. It even straightened my hair and thats not an east task.

they are ok, i wouldnt use them everyday bcuz they can burn out and damage your hair. it doesnt tell you how hot the irons are, so you cant control how much heat is in your hair....
