I absolutely love my chi!! It's the best! It has cut my getting ready time in half!
I love the performance, but not the ending...

OMG!!! I've had my chi for 4 years now, and it still works great!!! It heats up excellent, and it leaves my hair beautiful and straight!
The only thing wrong with it is...the year warranty goes out and it CONVENIENTLY breaks right afterward! First, it started randomly shutting off. I thought it was the cord, but turns out it was the on-off switch--which snapped off right after I found out the problem! So, I just used some tape to hold it in place and keep it on!! Innovation!
Later, one of the plates came unglued and now hangs on by two wires...talk about dangerous!! It likes to snag my hair every now and then...
So, if you are reading this and wondering whether to buy it or not...it depends. IT works great! Its just not very durable after the warranty runs out...I like it, but the Solia seems to be much more durable, but does not work quite as well as the Chi (found out from ratings & reviews).

I have had 2 CHI Irons now and the same thing happened with both. I am very happy with the way it works, if you use it properly you will see the best results. The only complaint I have is the durability. After 2 years on both Irons the cord gets shorted out near the top where it connects to the Iron. For the price of a chi you would think they would last longer...

I purchased the CHI iron but I was very disappointed and I returned it. The first time I used the CHI flat iron, it fried my hair. It was awful. My hair smelled like it had been charred after using the product the first time. I will stick to my Sedu flat iron.
Love it! Great investment!!

I've been using flat irons for about 6 years now and have tried several brands. I started with Wal-Mart cheap irons and they constantly caught and ripped out my hair. I then bought the Helen of Troy brand because a friend recommended it to me. They worked great for about 1-2 years then the plates would start losing heat. I was spending $40+ every 1-2 years. Since I got my Chi I have been so happy! It does wonders for my hair, and takes half the time to flat iron than the other irons I've used. I have fine hair, so I use a heat protectorant with the iron and my hair stays healthy and smooth. It's worth the price! (Especially with the free pouch) :)

I was very happy with the performance of the CHI, however, it lasted 3 days. I used it one morning, then went to use it later that day on my daughter, and nothing! Thank goodness Folica was awesome about recommending one that was more durable. I sent a complaint to CHI about the durability, mind you I never dropped it or anything. I put it in the pouch after each use, didn't wrap the cord around it or anything. I was told by CHI that this was new and improved (without the safety plug) however, I would say that it is not.
This does not have the safety plug, therefore, if it needs "reset" there is no way to do this. So, I am returning my chi, and have already replaced it with a SEDU. I love my SEDU, it was worth the price, plus the reassurance of durabilty, AND it has the safety plug feature.

I have had my Chi iron for about a year now, when i first bought it i paid about $130. I was like WOW, i am not spending that money on a straightner, but once i saw the results from my hair i was completly amazed. So here i am....(I havent even used this iron often i can count the number of times in a year)I have just recently moved back to the states and when i went to plug in my Chi iron i noticied that the light wouldn't stay on....if i held it just right then it would light up but the minute i set it down the light would go off and it wasnt heating properly....after a while it just stopped working...and my luck, the night i was going out for the first time in ages...so i had half straightened hair and half curly. I was Pissed. I asked my father if it could be fixed and what might be wrong with it...so he unscrewed it and noticed that the wire (which had been glued on!) was loose. I am so angry, $130 may not be alot to some people, but its hard earned money for me. I am sure this christmas someone will be buying me a new Chia flat iron, but i just might take it back get a refund and look at another lines products. I loved the way my hair looked, no one has ever been able to straighten it before, but when it comes down to it....do i really need to spend $130 every year? Im just upset with the quality of its make, and the fact that for the use i got out of it....i paid too much. otherwise the Chi flat iron would have more stars in my opinion!
Not Durable

I bought the Chi a couple of years ago and was extremely happy with the results. My hair is very fine and curly, therefore I needed something that would be easy on my hair and really straighten it. It did a great job straightening my hair, however, after a year or so of usage (about twice a week) the blades started coming off and it got harder to straighten my hair because I'm assuming it wasn't getting as hot. The blades are still on, but I'm afraid of using my Chi anymore because the blades might come off while I'm using it and burn me! I wouldn't buy the Chi again because it is not durable. I'm thinking about getting the Sedu...but I want to make sure that one will last longer. So, I just decided to write this so that people would know what they were getting for their money...if you want to get a new Chi every few years and the price is worth it for you then go ahead and buy it...when it's working it does a great job. Otherwise, keep researching to find a more durable straightener. Hope this helps :)

I've had this hair straightener for about 5 years. I didn't use to use it much. Then I started straightning my hair about 3 times a week. Not only did that damage my hair and give me TONS of broken hairs but after about 3 months of continuous use this straightener is taking even longer to heat up and takes a long time to straighten. I have very thick, wavy hair and at first the CHI was fabulous, but with real use on hair as tough to straighten as mine it wasn't that great. My hair was NOT humidity resistant with this straightener. TWO MINUTES outside and the 25 minutes I spent straightening my hair was worthless. My hair is damaged greatly now and I'm waiting for my Sedu to arrive in the mail sometime before Thanksgiving. This straightener still gets the job done, but now it takes forever to heat up and breaks my hairs. I'm sure this straightener would heat up great every time if you only straightened your hair once a week, but for real use I wouldn't buy another CHI again.
Not worth the time , damage , or money.

I've had my CHI for two years . At first, it worked amazing.. But it stopped working well after about a year , and it doesn't heat up as much as it used to.. My hair is curly ,but not tight kinky curls.. It looks sort of like Taylor Swift's hair, but a bit shorter. When i first got the straightener, it took about 45 minutes to do my hair. But now, it takes over 3 hours sometimes. Not to mention that after i straighten my hair, it doesn't hold the style for long. When i wake up , my hair is starting to curl again. And when i step outside, it starts to curl. And i live in Canada... it's hardly even humid. I'm really getting frustrated with this iron because it takes three hours to straighten , and it sometimes doesn't even LAST for 3 hours. It does alot of damage to my hair too . I used to have long long hair , but i keep having to cut it because of the split ends. The CHI snags and pulls my hair, it feels like it's ripping it out. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone who wants healthy, shiny , long , styled hair. And i'm pretty sure EVERYONE does ;) Conclusion , go with a different straightener.

I am a Stylist and have had mine for about 5+ years. The best iron in the world. Works on all types of hair, just be careful with thin, damaged hair, just don't leave on hair very long (real hot).
Took a moment of silence yesterday....MY CHI STOPPED WORKING !!!!!! Ordering new one TODAY.

I've had my CHI over a year, but it was used when I got it and has always done a great job,my hair is really thin an even dying fries it a little on the tips and when I first got it, it did fry my hair, but that was because I was using a cheap protectant so I got another one they said it was great so I could straighten my hair almos every single day I just had to take good care of if.
Anyway, as I said it was used when I got and now I year later and after many fallings off the bed the plates got loose and my dad fixed it though he said he didn;t know how long it would keep working, electricly it's perfect but mechaniclly it's dying so I'm thinking about getting a new one but a lot of people are saying so bad things about it i'm having my doubts, so I think that first of all you should specify what model you have because i've heard thatI mited editions are kind of cheap and break off easyly so i hope you could specify this stuff, it would help a lot of people to make a desition,

There is a reason that all of the hair dressers that I see use this product. It's fantastic! Although, I do have an Ultra Chi, but if this one is anything like mine, it is nothing less than excellent. It's costly, but I've had mine for 2 years under heavy use and it still works as well as the first day I bought it. Leaves my hair much smoother (I have naturally straight hair so I use it when I want everything to look just perfect and it delivers). Best part is that it heats up quickly! I will never switch from Chi. I just bought the hair dryer as well. If you want something similar but without the heavy price point, try Fhi.

I have had two Chi flat irons. While they do a great job in straightening your hair, both of mine just suddenly quit working after about a year and a half after purchasing. I thought the first time was a fluke so I purchased another one. It suddenly died too. I'm done with Chi. They aren't cheap so this shouldn't happen. I'm sure I can find another flat iron that works just as well and lasts much longer.

I have thick, wavy hair that gets soo frizzy during the day. I have gone through multiple $20-$30 flat irons without success. They took forever to get my hair straight and left it frizzy and damaged, the straightness wearing off quickly.
I decided to go for a more expensive iron and had heard of the CHI. I LOVE my CHI-- it was totally worth the price (from folica.com's $70 was a STEAL!!) and it has not stopped giving me great results. I have had it for only 7-8 months now, but it still works like the day I bought it. It QUICKLY straightens my hair, at most only 15-20 minutes, reduces frizz, and makes it shiny, soft, and smooth, all day and night! I have gotten lots of compliments on my hair and would recommend this product to anyone. It is BEYOND worth it and I could talk FOREVER of the great results.
It's compact and ideal for traveling. I take it with me everywhere I travel and could not LIVE without it!!! BUY THIS IRON NOW!!! :D
I LOVE THIS.

I've had the chi ceramic flat iron now for about.. SEVEN YEARS, maybe eight. It has never done me wrong, and frankly, I'm surprised it's lasted so long, even with my almost daily use. It always leaves my hair incredibly straight, but more importantly, soft as well. It doesn't leave your hair with that "straight" fried look. My friends always ask me how I get my hair so straight, even with a hair straightener (I guess their flat irons don't work as well). Sadly, after a very long and happy life, my flat iron is finally beginning to show signs that it's dying, but I'm not upset at all because it's been so long.
Great Flatiron but it's Dangerous!

I have had my CHI for 2.5 years now. Every so often it would start popping in the electric outlet and the red light would flicker. Now today it started popping and then the outlet started SMOKING. I'm lucky I didn't get ELECTROCUTED or start a fire. Needless to say, I'm sitting home waiting for an electrician to come repair the outlet.
The CHI always got my hair super straight and soft and was very easy to use. The CHI would be fantastic if only it wasn't so DANGEROUS.
Now that I need to replace it, I'm going with a Solia.
