Hey
I bought my chi about a year ago, when I first bought it worked wonders, so shiny and smooth, but then after a few months the on/off button snapped off, so I returned it for a new one. Now this one after about 6 months started dieing on me, a few more months have passed and it is DONEZO! It barely heats up anymore, my hair doesnt look shiny, my hair si sooo fried expecially the ends and I don't even straihten my hair that much, takes like an hour and a half to do my hair and it stopped turning off...I have to jiggle the cord to get it to work and even then it keeps turning off (SUPER ANNOYING!).
i REALLY would NOT recommend buying this Chi.
GO FOR THE SOLIA ITS GREAT!!!

the chi original is the best out there.it leaves hair soft and silky. i live in texas and the humidity is horribleeeee.
but with the chi i dont have one frizzy hair day. the chi is amazing. if you've thought about buying one but are to hesitant...go BUY IT. and the price of them are cheap right now so do it while it's cheap.i absolutely LOVE it. plus it has a warranty on it so there's nothin to worry about.
DUD!

After having the CHI (original model) for 3 months, it quit. It clicked off during usage and has refused to be turned on again! Unfortunantally, to have it rapaired or replaced, we have to pay shipping to and from. We learned our lesson this time.
Dont buy it...

i have very curly frizzy puffy thick hair that does not seem to want to be straight.... its mostly just a mess of frizz and stuck away into a bun...then i found the wonders of a hot tools straightener....cost about 40 bucks semi-straightened my hair broke in about 5 months...got another one because i thought it was the best it could be with my hair...it broke also withing the year...then i got the chi..it worked pretty great at first...got my hair straight tht was wonderful for me but it didnt stay..within an hour or so of going out it would get some waves..still mostly straight but not completly..usually in a ponytail by the end of that day..also it never really made my hair very smooth..it didnt feel nice and soft..it still felt frizzy and it was...then after about 2 years it started to break...it would turn off and on depending on where the cord was..i could just swivel the cord until the light turned back on..extremly annoying and only worked for a month until it broke completly...i would advise against the chi as it breaks quite easily and did i good but not great job...i just ordered the sedu for about the same price as the chi and i think it willl be muchhh better..

OKAY SO MY FIRST IRON BROKE AFTER ABOUT 2 YEARS OF ABUSE =9(A PINK LIMITED EDITION SOLIA WHICH I COMPLETLEY ADORED) WHEN I WENT AND BOUGHT THIS WASTE OF TIME. I HAVE THICK, CURLY, DOMINICAN HAIR, SO TO GET THIS THING ON MY HEAD (MY HAIR) STR8 IS NO JOKE, BUT THE CHI SUCKED AT ATTEMPING TO GET IT DONE IN EVERY WAY. THE ONLY THING THAT IT WAS GOOD FOR WAS FLIPPING MY ENDS. BUT SERIOUSLY I RETURNED THE CHI AND BOUGHT ANOTHER SOLIA. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! JUST GET THE CHI.
Just buy it!

I love this straightener (and so does my daughter)! I have wavy hair that turns into frizz by the end of the day. This straightener keeps my hair straight all day long...hopefully it will hold up to the midwest humidity this summer. I have faith.
Love this brand, & this Product

I have thick, frizzy hair. I bought the Chi and it works wonders with my hair, although it takes a lot of time to straighten it. It doesn't damage my hair, and I also use Chi's thermal protection spray. I have no complaints except that it takes me so long to straighten it (1/2 hour). I'm very active, and I don't have time in the mornings to spare a half-hour.

I am so glad I spent the extra money. This has cut my "getting ready" time in half. I used to have to go through my hair twice with my old flat iron. Once with my Chi and my hair is perfect!

Money well spent. I always wondered whether the more expensive irons were worth it. Now I know. Forgot those $15 drugstore models. This is of professional quality!

I bought it a year and a half ago for 95 dollars. I used to use it about every week or so. Then I got a haircut that is very layered and about shoulder length and requires ironing to look presentable since I have naturally wavy medium to thickish hair...so lately for the past few months since I got the cut, have been ironing my hair pretty much every time I wash it..at least 3 times a week often more.
I shampoo and condition and use the heat protectant/flat ironing spray-all Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight.
The iron does do a decent job at ironing the hair. It did iron and hold the straightening a little better when I first bought it (And back when I first bought it I didn't use the spray)and used to heat up a little faster than it does now. I mean it does still hold pretty well, my layers just get flippy at the ends overnight but that is also partially due to the cut, probably. Overall, it irons pretty quickly-about 15-20 mins to get it pin straight (no blow drying..I just air dry) with the flat spray and it does hold pretty well for a few days.
But a few days ago, it just wouldn't turn on, even after resetting a few times and trying with different outlets to make sure it wasn't just the outlet I usually use it in. I just ordered a Sedu-it looks much better, has more features, and got much better reviews and I have also heard good things about it. After reading all these reviews, I realized that the Chi is not made that well and a lot of people have that issue-I did not realize that the cord wrapped around it would be a problem so I did sometimes store it like that. Hopefully my Sedu will be better.
All in all, it does the job pretty well...but after a while the ironing definitely does not hold as well as the iron ages...I do need a touch up every day for it to look really good most of the time. It is decent but not amazing and overall crappy made if so many people apparently had issues w it..I see I am not alone in this boat. I will review my Sedu and I am thinking it will be much better.
I'm happy
