I used to have some brand thats something like Jbeire paris or something from Sally Beauty, that was okay. This is excellent!!! Everyone notices how heathly my hair looks. It doesnt even bother me theres no heat setting. My hair is to the middle of my back and it takes me about 12 minutes to straighten the whole thing. I recommend this 1000000%!!!!!!

I am of mixed decent and my hair is extremely curly. It used to take me hours just to blow dry and straighten my hair. I bought the Chi Iron a couple months ago and I really love it. I love how it makes my hair silky smooth and it stays that way. The one thing that I want to add is just like with any type of heating product, do not overuse it or it will damage your hair. Unfortunately people seem to think that you can use this daily and will still have the same beautiful hair but this is just not true. As with anything else, you need to take care of your hair but the Chi is the best item around!!

I have natural curly hair and could never get all the curls out. The chi is GREAT!!!!!!!!!! My hair is straight and looks the best it has ever, so good, that all my friends are thinking of buying a chi.

I have already purchased 2 CHI, one did break after one year, the plates fell off. I'm into using my 2nd one, it works okay, but with the high humidity in Corpus Christi, my hair does not stay bone straight, which I would love. I've used flat iron sprays and frizz-free products, but none have worked to keep my hair straight. It works fine when I'm actually using the CHI, but as soon as it hits the humidity, my hair just starts curling!

My hair is thick, coarse and curly as hell. The Chi is the only one that can straighten it and I can get it to last 2 days. It's absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, I broke my CHI in Australia because the voltage is 2x higher than in Canada so I busted it and it no longer works anymore. That is not a product failure, but rather a studid consumer mistake on my part.
I'm getting another CHI, definitely!
Too much money for the quality!

I bought my fist chi two years ago and loved it. One day the red light started to flicker and the heat would die down. I had to mash the straightener continually to make it turn back on. I thought it was just mine but two of my friends had chi straighteners and theirs did the same thing. I bought a new one because my original eventual died. one day I sat my chi down on my counter and one of the plates fell off! The chi gives great results but for the amount of pay you would think it would be built more efficiently... Now I own a solia and LOVE it!!

This is absolutely amazing! I got it last night for my 15th birthday.
When I first opened it up, I was scared that because it is only 1" thick. Even though it is tiny, it is powerful. It doesnt burn my hair like my old 3" revlon iron did. Its nice and thin so I can get close to my roots.
Some people complained about the little gap between the plates, though I think this is a GOOD thing. My hair is extremely thick and it in my old iron where there was no gap, I had to carefully position my hair over the plates so it wouldn't splay over the edges. The CHI model keeps it in place without snagging.
In addition, the iron takes less than 30 seconds to heat up! All my old irons took at least five minutes. The CHI doesnt use steam, so it doesnt brittle my hair. It straightened my natural redhead corkscrew curls with TWO strokes of the iron!
You should definitely buy this, you wont be dissapointed!

I worship my Chi! My chi got my naps smooth and silky. I had my hair highlighted in January and prior to that I had not had a relaxer in 3 weeks. So, after my highlights, to be safe I waited another 6 weeks! That's right, 6 weeks! My hair is thick, course and to my shoulders and extra curly...In other words NAPPY! But with my CHI, my hair is smooth, nap free and has much body. What i do apply on my hair is a smoothing serum by Aveda called Light Elements or I use a smoothing serum product by J Beverly Hills. Never use hair oil it fries it, makes it smell and weighs your hair down. Hope this helps!

The Chi original works great and does everything it's supposed to do well, but my first one died just out of the warranty period. I was very gentle with it, too. It wouldn't heat up at all, and the LED didn't light up. My father removed the cord and tested it with a multimeter, but the cord was OK, as well as the swivel connector. It must've been something internal that had gone bad (circuit board, power switch, heating element(s)?).
Since paying shipping and repair costs would cost over 50% the cost of a new one, and would yield an already used iron ready for another failure, getting a new one from Folica was a no-brainer. If this one dies prematurely like the 1st one, I'll be avoiding Chi in the future.
I'm giving this iron a 3 because 2.5 isn't a choice.
Function and Durability are the 2 things users expect from a relatively expensive product and the Chi seems to provide only 1/2 of that equation.
When Chi addresses the durability issue(s) with this iron, and perhaps stands behind it with a longer warranty, it'll be the perfect choice.

My friend has a Chi and it is sooo awesome. She used an anit-frizz stuff and it looked soo good. It takes no time at all and leaves your hair so silky shiny and soft. I was so jealous but I am looking into getting a SEDU straihgtener and hope it will work good if not better.
