I researched several flat irons for a week before making a desicion on which to purchase. I wanted something that would get the job done and last. Though I read alot about these flat irons quiting after a year, I still found this one to be the best choice. I also tested my friends to make sure it would work on my hair. I have very long, naturally curly, frizzy hair. It works great. I have had it a month. Though it does get very hot and I can see where it would dry out and damage your hair. I do not use it everyday. I also use natural vitamin serums on my hair to help keep it from drying out. People comment on how I can one day have beautiful curls and the next have sleak smooth healthy looking hair. You just have to find the tricks for your hair. It took a while for me but I found them. I do rate this product high. I just hope I still can say that in a year. Thanks...
AWSOME.

So I've been borrowing my friend's chi to straighten my hair, and it's amazing. It makes my hair pin straight, soft, silky, shiny, and flexible! As if I had naturally straight healthy hair. The only thing is that once I go outside and hit humidity, my hair stays straight, but not pin straight and it looses it's flexibility. I'm still considering purchasing one, not exactly full of cash right now. But I will continue to use my friends. :]

I have owned my Chi for almost 4 years now, and I bought it because my stylist uses it, and said it was the best. Mine finally started to break down, the light would flicker and the cord had to be a certain way for it to stay heated, but after 4 years of constant use- it was worth every penny to have my naturally curly hair smooth, straight, and really shiny- nothing compares to a Chi.

Do not buy, this product only works for a couple months and then it doesn't turn on at all. For the price of this product, it should last for years. I'm dissatisfied with this product.

I bought this flat iron for the first time four years ago. It's traveled from D.C. to Korea to Italy and back to Korea with me. I've dropped it, packed it, twisted the cords, and have had it plugged into more adapters and converters than I can even count. I never had a problem with it, not to mention I've had four years of the BEST hairstyles ever. It even allowed me to get some of those cute short hair cuts that are considered no-no's for us thick, curly, frizzy haired girls. Recently I dropped it and one of the plates popped out(mind you after four years), so I picked up the conair infiniti. It did a good job at straightening and I began to wonder if some the cheaper models had improved. That was until I stepped out into the humidity and found the frizz I had lost four years ago. Needless to say I immediately got online and ordered a new Chi. I absolutely recommend this flat iron. You will be more than satisfied.

The straightener does an outstanding job but they don't last long.
I've sent 3 back within the past few months -- won't heat up or won't stay hot (light goes off and on).
Best thing ever

I read some negative feedback prior to purchasing my CHI. My roommate also has the same CHI as I do, she purchased hers first. We both love it. I have not had any problems with it thus far. And I see it this way, if it lasts a year before it breaks (as stated in some of the reviews), I paid a little over 8 dollars a month to have my hair straight and silky. Worth ever penny to me!
Awesome if you've got difficult hair!

This is one of two straightners that I've used in my life and the other one was European and more expensive. They do the exact same thing! It is so quick to heat up and straighten my coarse, thick hair. Just do not take it to New Zealand, like I did, unless you have an adapter AND a converter. ;) I've attached a picture with friends (I'm the redhead on the far left) and one with my brother. Enjoy tame, straighter hair!
love it!

Well i have had two of these chi's and they were very good but after about a year there would be a short and it just would not heat up. so i would not recommend this unless you just plan on keeping it for a short time

I received the Chi as a gift a couple years ago from my fiance. I had never used a flat iron before and was amazed by how great it made my hair look. I never used to spend time styling my very thick, wavy/curly hair but once i got the Chi i was always fixing my hair. Anyway long story short, it worked for me for about 2 years and then as mentioned in other reviews it started shorting out. It was a real pain in the you know what, it took 3 times as long b/c i would have to get the cord at the exact place for it to stay on and then if i barely moved it, it would turn off again. The short in it got so bad that it actually started smoking! (havent tried using it since then). I dont know if this is common, but i know when i would straighten my hair i would wrap the cord around my hand b/c it would get in the way and im thinking that is why it started to short out at the base of the iron where the cord meets it. Overall it is great but as they say all great things must come to an end, and with the Chi it wont take very long. I will be buying another one ;)
Absolute Wonder!

I was introduced to the Chi from a friend but after she told me how much it was I didn't give it another thought. That is until about one year later I was getting my hair cut and the beautician straightend my hair and I asked her what she was using and she told me it was a Chi. I was AMAZED! I have naturally very, very curly, thick, wavy hair and the Chi gave me instant, smooth, sleek, and shiny results. My hair went from "blah" to super modle hair in under 10 minutes! And not because the hair dresser was experienced, it was from the Chi. I went out and bought one that night, tried it for myself the next morning and got the same results. It was worth the money from ordering online. I use my Chi everyday and from the shower and drying my hair to using my Chi I have fabulous results in under 20 minutes! And don't worry about humidity! Trust me I would know, my hair now stays straight and healthy looking all day no matter what. I wouldn't give up my Chi for anything!!! GET ONE!!! You won't be dissapointed :)
HOW TO CURL:

i got this iron yesterday and couldn't wait to review it. First of all waves and flips are easy. so is straightening your hair. it heats up in seconds. the curls was the hard part. i finally figured out how to do it and want to share with those who are still struggling. Take a piece of hair by the root and put it into the iron. rotate the iron 360 degrees so your hair goes all the way around the hot part. hold for a second or less (it works really fast) release SLIGHTLY and pull down hold and press again for a second. Make sure the hair is pulled tightly around the iron for best results. Release slightly again and keep lowering it to the root little by little making sure your hair still wrapped around the iron. you don't wanna wrap the WHOLE strand of hair around like when using a typical curling iron, this will not work. With the chi you can creat a curl SO FAST and you dont have to sit and hold it like with cheap irons. the faster you do it the bigger the curls/waves. if you do it little by little you'll have curly sue curls!

I ordered my first CHI about 4 years ago and was totally satisfied. I have very curly hair that the CHI controls whether I blow dry it or not. I've never had a problem with damaging or burning my hair, for which some of the cheaper flat irons are responsible. I even used my CHI in Europe for a year with a converter, and though they tell you it can't handle the different wattage, and it held up just fine. The CHI finally came to its end when I accidentally dropped it about a month ago(though I was anal retentive about protecting it, this was probably the third time it had fallen throughout its life). One of the plates had finally broken lose (after the second fall, this plate would slide out everyonce in a while, but I learned how to manuever so this wouldn't happen), and I sadly laid the CHI to rest... And then ordered another one. I've never had problems with the cord (as I've read on some reviews), but the instructions caution you to take very good care of it -- I never wrapped the cord around the straightener, just loosely coiled it all together and put it in a drawer. I think it's totally a worthy and satisfying investment -- you just have to protect it!

I recently had to purchase another Chi iron as the one I had owned and used roughly 4x/week finally decided to give out on me after four solid years of use. For the $89 spent, it is sooooo well worth the very small investment as the Chi honestly works 200% better than any "off" brand that you might be able to get at a local discount store. Trust me, I am a frugal person and actually bought two of the cheaper imitations and you truly get what you pay for. Some of the imitations are fine in you already have straight hair and just need a quick touch up, but my hair is THICK, COARSE, and naturally CURLY - which = FRIZZY if not done right! I also recommend a good hair serum when using any flat iron to protect your hair from being damaged. I hope this helps!

i see lots of reviews for wavy hair, and somewhat curly hair. but do you wanna see a review of how this flat iron works on HIGHLY-TEXTURED hair? then look at MY PICS!!!
i braided my hair into 12 braids after washing and deep conditioning, and let it dry overnight. then the next day i took down a braid, sprayed some heat protectant on, and straightened small sections of hair. repeated this process until i was done with my entire head. lastly, i added an anti-humectant to help keep my hair from reverting. but it was perfectly straight before i added the anti-humectant. i've also used it on a friend who has 4b natural hair, i don't have pics of her but trust me it came out gorgeous. neither of us had any problems with our hair reverting back to its natural glory once we washed it. definitely worth the money! =)
