I had the purple chi with little rinestones on the sides for about 2 years. I never had any problems with it until now that the power button fell when I was turning it off. I just placed an order for a new one. I love Chi. I feel that 2 years was well worth what I paid for it. Considering that I would use it every single day. I also have the blow drier and it is great. I would definitely continue using Chi products.
Ok Flat Iron

When I first got the Chi, it worked wonders for my thick curly hair at first, but the thing is if you have very curly hair you have to straighten your hair more than once to get it straighten good enough, eventually this made the ends of my hair very damaged. Second if you have thick it takes forever to straighten your hair. I'm not talking 20 minutes, I'm talking 45 minutes at the least. Another thing is that eventually things stop working, well in this case I got an electrical shock. The last thing is that the thing is not very durable, I dropped it and a plate flew out. So if you buy this product don't drop it!!!!!!
Worked great until it stopped working a year later

This flat iron worked great until it stopped working a year later for no apparent reason a year later. I now own a Paul Mitchell, which is more expensive but has a good warranty and actually works much better.
Perfect!

This is great!! I had my doubts after reading the varied reviews, but I tried my CHI for the first time a few minutes ago and it worked great! It's good for straightening, of coarse, and, if you have bangs, for giving them a little flip. All-in-all, i love it!

I heard that CHI was suposed to be the best...well that is sooo not the case. Im 12 years old and i have like, MAD curly/puffy/frizzy hair. When i straighten my hair in the morning, it looks really pretty. Them i walk to the bus stop..get on the bus, and its frizzy again. =[
im so scared of which straightner to get because i want it to last a long time and work good...but seriously..i recomend this if you have wavy hair..or almost straight hair..thats it. =]

I have bought alot of flat irons over the years, they all would do a great job but as soon as I would walk outside my hair would frizz up. (i live in Louisiana so there is alot of humidity) I finally had bought a CHI because all of my friends had one and they all worked great. Well I love my CHI, I have had it for almost 3 years now and never had ANY problems with it!
*It is worth the extra money*

I wear my hair naturally curly. I am a woman of color who used to relax her hair. As, the longer that I was using relaxers in my hair, the more dull and breakage prone my hair had become. So, I stopped relaxing myhair so that I could get it back healthy again.
Now, I wear my hair curly most of the time. However, I do sometimes like to switch things up a bit by wearing my hair straightened. And, one particular straightener that I do use to flat iron my hair with sometimes is the CHI.
The CHI gets my hair pin straight probably quicker than any other flat iron that I have used thus far on my hair. Howvever, there is no adjustable temperature control. So, the flat iron stays flaming hot from beginning to end. And, I feel that that is why it leaves my hair feeling quite dry after using. As, I personally feel that it sucks alot of moisture out of one's hair. Therefore, I certainly wouldn't ever recommend that anyone use this product in their hair all the time.
Because, I don't use this flat iron on my hair on a daily or even weekly basis, I don't get any type of damage to my hair. So, that's why, I am cool about using this flat iron on my hair.
This iron along with a good heat protectant does deliver salon results for me! And, that's why, I will continue to use it in my hair, whenever I want to go from wearing my hair 100% curly to 100% straight!

I have had my CHI for “5 YEARS” now. Last year it began to have cord problems, I guess from twirling the cord, but I fixed it and just recently it broke because it fell on the floor so now I have to replace it. I absolutely loved this iron. I have very thick and wavy/course/long hair and this iron did the trick. My hair stayed frizz free and straight. I recommended this iron to all my friends and they love it as well. It leaves hair very soft and shiny. WONDERFUL PRODUCT!!!!
lasted less than a week

I got this flat iron for my birthday and after six days when I would turn it on, it would turn right back off. I sent it back and got a sedu. That thing works just as well if not better than the chi did in it's short life span. But I must say when it was working, it was incredible how soft my hair was. And if one breaks people, don't buy another one....seriously.
Damages your hair, also BIG FIRE HAZZORD!!! *******************PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have purchased this product about 8 months ago and loved it up till about 3 months of owning it. I started to notice that my hair was drying out more and the end of hair was breaking off. Also one day while using the CHI a wire went in the cored. I guess it became loose. So inorder to use it now I have to bend the cored up in my hand and hold the straigtener at the same time, VERY INCONVINIENT!! Also the straighener started to turn on and off by itself even with it turned to the off switch, VERY DANGEROUS!!! I have now bought the Sedu and just waiting for it to arive, can't wait. But for those of you considering on buying the CHI, the recomed you invest your money in another one, very dangerous and damages your hair, cannot stress it to you enough. As I have read other reviews of the CHI doing the samething to others.
I LOVE MY CHI ;)

I recently purchased my second Chi straightener after dropping my very first beloved Chi causing one of the plates to come loose :(
I used to straighten my extremely curly, thick hair with a clothes iron on the ironing board!!! It was the only way to ever get my hair straight! My parents finally caved about 5 years ago and got me a Chi for Christmas...
The BEST hair straightener I have EVER used... hands down.
I've been reading some of the reviews and I think that the problem is over-processed, unhealthy hair and improper use of the product. I have been colouring my hair (through a professional colourist) for over a decade... it's been permed, dyed jet black, bleached out and back again more times than I can count... even with all of the damage to my hair, the Chi has NEVER snagged, caused split ends, or burned my hair...
LOVE it!

i have thick hair; its wavy, burnt and frizy.
when i use this flat iron my hair is soft and it stays straight the whole day & night. its worth the money becuase it works. it heats up it seriously 10 seconds! its amazing! it also doesnt ware out the color of your hair (mine is dyed) so the color last longer, and i straighten my hair every single day. my hair isn't as fried as it used to be, and its much healthier that before.
Incredible!

I'm a teen aged girl who is completly obsessed with her hair, which is a very crimped and frizzy,I had been using a $40 dollar hair straightener for over a year(and had been straightening my hair every day),and my hair would always look perfect for about 10 min.One day I had a friend over who had a chi, which she brought with her,and it was incredible! It straightened my hair perfectly in about 20min(I have really long hair too..) and it lasted until I took a bath about 8 hours later! Its incredible I would recomend it to any one =D
FIRE/BURN HAZARD!!!!!!!!!!

Thank GOD I had a long sleve robe on. I was doing my daughter's hair for picture day at school and I heard a loud pop and realized my sleve had caught fire. Thank goodness the material was fire resistent and was turned out quickly. They really need to address the wiring issues with this product. Otherwise, it would be a great product but not worth the risk.
Another thing, I realize the iron stays on even when off as the light still blinks on. MAJOR fire hazard. God forbid it gets turned off but still plugged in, a home can be burned down!!!!!!!

I have not bought a total of 3 over the years and now the 3rd one did the exact same less than a year and it shorts out and is useless with no warranty they really need to offer a warranty as I am looking into another name brand that gives the same effects .Very dissappointed as I spent over $100 for my first one and then shopped on ebay but still spent almost $100 for the others.
Not worth it.

My Chi shorted out after a few months and I'm pretty bitter about it. When you spend $100 on a straightener you expect it to last longer than a few months. I cannot get in touch with their customer service people and am just displeased in general with the company that produces these straighteners. Do yourself a favor and buy a different brand. Sedu is great and seems to last quite a bit longer than the Chi.
