Not really worth the price

I went to upgrade from my old Hot Tools and based on looking at long time reviews, I picked the Chi. MISTAKE. There was no noticeable difference between my $50 Hot Tools and my $90 Chi. And, the Chi was more difficult to use, the plates were not even and did not meet on part of the iron.
I'm returning it and sticking with my old Hot Tools for now.
Definetly Amazing!

I have noo idea what people are talking about with all the wiring issues and such, I have never had such a problem. My hair is soooooo curly and super frizzy but after i straighten it with My Chi it gets super Sleek, Shiny & pin Straight! I have had my Chi Well over a Year now & I have had absalutley Noo problems with it! & It still maintains the Super high temperature, Even though I've had it for so long. Also my Chi had a warranty? But my Mom got it at the hair dresser so maybe Thats why ? But They do offer warranty's so people should Stop Complaining!
no way jose

Man i got this straightener because everyone says they work great. NOT. They're okay for once in a while use but not daily. They easy damage hair and they short circute within a couple of months after using. chi's shouldnt be so pricy b/c they are crappy. i recommend sedu, wigo, conair steam straightener and global beauty. So before you go buy a chi, think, do you want gross burnt up hair? yeah i didnt think so :)
p.s. im a hair dresser :)

I have extremely curly hair and I have been using a cheap conair for the past year. The conair really burnt out my hair that i was even embarrassed to let it loose.
I purchased my chi yesterday and received it today (aka great delivery) and I started using it and immediately fell in love.
Usually my hair takes 2 hours to straighten (I have long, extremley curly and a lot of hair) and it cut the time to 45 mins! And the results were great. My hair feel smooth and lively, and I havent seen it this great i about a year!

Yeah so maybe CHI is the name everyone's heard. What quite a few people know is that CHI was bought out by a different company. If you'd had a CHI for a long time and it seems durable, you have the true original CHI. Now, they sell cheap light, fragile, damaged CHIs. I personally sell CHIs at a Beauty Supply Store and I cannot even tell you how many have been returned and how many people are so happy when I can reccomend something better, like the Nano Titanium BaByliss flat iron. L-O-V-E it! CHIs also dont have adjustable heat. Not everyone has the same hair type. That's someone with extremely fine hair, and someone with thick coarse curly hair both using the same straightener both at 400 or whatever default degrees. The person with thin fine hair does not need that heat setting. You're asking for a fried head.
Not worth it...

I'm a teenage girl who is obsessed with her hair. But I am very unlucky to have frizzy, poofy, wavy, thick hair! I bought the CHI, and used protectant spray, shine serum, and other stuff. I straighten my hair for about 25 min. It made my hair nice for about 5 min. Then it just poofs back to my normal ugly hair. I was really disappointed because of all the good reviews.
SO I only recommend this product to people with really thin hair who want it straightened.
For anyone else, it's not worth $100. It pretty much just makes my hair your hair look like hay.
I'm still looking for a better straightener.

This flat iron is the best, and straightens my hair very well. I highly recommend it...it's sturdy, gets very hot and straightens quickly, lasts a long time and is worth the extra money.
WORKS wonders but DOESN'T LAST long

I started straightening my hair when I was 12. I have wavy hair which is very easy to straighten. I used to be able to straighten it with a blow dryer but I wanted more flat, natural looking straight hair as I got older so I bought a cheap $20 walmart straightener. It seemed to work at first and then I found that I had to go over the same strand of hair 5 or 6 times to straighten it out. Then I found that within a few mintues after straightening my hair I had a few waves forming agian (usually in humid weather). After I got my fist job around 15 I bought a $40 Helen of Troy flat iron which is similar to Hot Tools, I thought it was the greatest thing. I found that my hair would stay straight through all sorts of weather. Finally, I found that I had to get a hair cut every month to keep my hair healthy. I had been trying to grow it out for years! So I talked to my hair stylist and learned that not all straighteners have ceramic plates. FINALLY, I decided to buy the "BEST" flat iron out there. I didn't think to go online and do the research and read the reviews so I bought the CHI since thats what my hair dresser used. Most of my friends hadn't heard about the CHI since it was too much for most 15 year olds to afford. Anyway, I just assumed that the CHI was the best and I bought it. I really liked it and used it for 6 years. At first I found that the CHI would work well but it only lasted me a year before the light stopped blinking but the straightener would work. My next CHI also lasted me a year before it died. My third CHI melted when I took it to England without thinking about the voltage. That was a waste of $140. I had only bought it 3 months before. My forth and LAST CHI (the CHI-tah) just died yesterday. I only bought it before my cousins wedding in June and it already died on me, only 7 months later. I'm super upset about wasting so much money. I even paid the extra 20 for the chitah print. My boyfriend just ordered me the SEDU for Christmas. I haven't recieved it yet but I'm sure I'll love it after reading the reviews. I had to go to page 46 of the Sedu reviews until I found 4 stars. The first page of reviews on the CHI had 4 reviews with one star on the first page. That's pathetic. Anyway I called the information line since I don't have my receipt anymore and they want me to send in a $35 money order so they can repair it. NOT EVEN WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!! I'll probably just call it a waste of $140 and save my $35 to buy something else. I'm done with the CHI. Put up the extra dollars and invest in a better product. After reading other reviews I have learned that I'm not the only one who has a problem with the CHI shorting out so soon.
breaks easily

does great styling hair but after about 2 years they tend to give out. ive known a lot of people who say it shorts out. it seems the wiring isnt too great. so if your tight on money and need something that will last for years...i wouldnt suggest it.
Love it

I have never had my CHI short out. I've had it for about a year, but now want an animal print one because it's cuter. Mine still works perfectly fine. I absolutely love it.
This product does not work.

My sisters both owned a Chi and after using theirs a number of times I begged my parents to buy me my own for christmas. When I received it I admit it did straighten okay but it broke off strand after strand of my hair at the top of my head. This product doesn't make your hair look shiny and it does damage severly after awhile of usage. Also, after about a week it broke. Yea, A WEEK. I'm now settling for a Pink Solia after going through three more straighteners since the Chi.
Solia's are better.

I recieved the chi as a christmas present last year and it died on me last week. It worked GREAT while it was...working, but all of a sudden it just stopped working and wouldn't turn on. It made my hair very straight and worked amazing, I just wish it would of lasted longer. I am now deciding whether to get another chi or the solia.
works well....until the swivel cord gives out....

I think it works very well, but the company NEEDS to get rid of the swivel cord because after about 8-10 months( i dont remeber how long ive had it) it will only work if the cord has a hairband wrapped around it, so if they company fixes the problem it is will be an even better product.
Awesome Straightener

I've read a lot of the one star reviews, and I really don't know what some people do with their Chis to make them break.
I've had my Chi for 2 1/2 years and it's worked wonders on my hair, I makes it super silky. Of course you need to use products in your hair with any straightener to keep your hair from frizzing out, put leave in conditioner or something similar before straightening. Even if you don't put anything in your hair this hair straightener is fantastic. I'd recommend it to anyone.
I've gone through 4 Chi's in 3 years

I defininitely do NOT recommend this product. I've already been through 4 Chi's in the past 3 years. I have always taken great care of them, never dropped them, pulled the plug out by the cord, wrapped the cord around the straightener when finished, anything! I mean yeah, it works well for about a year or so and it does its job, but it's not reliable at all and will not last. I honestly don't know anyone who has had their's for over two years. On the other hand, I am afraid to try any other straightener because a Chi does a good job of straightening...if anyone has recommendations on a straightener to use that's reasonably priced PLEASE let me know.
Wonderful!!!

I love my CHI flat iron.
It worked great at making my hair straight in only 15-20 minutes a day and kept it straight all day.
The only problem is that the switch shorted out and it stopped working after only 9 months.
And the CHI website won't email me back on how to send it back in....
But I fully recommend it.
