Why does everyone say its so good....

Holy crap. I hate this straightener. From all the good reviews I thought it would be really good.
IT sucks, it fried my thick wavy hair. There are no heat settings... The ONLY good thing is that it heats up in like a minute. I bought it,and it lasted less than a year and broke. I would not recommend this to anyone. It gave me months of horrible hay looking hair.... :(
I do use heat protectant spray.... I'm going to either try the Paul Mitchell or the Phi straightener....
Please don't get this if you have thick hair...
A Good Product

I've had my CHI for 5 years now and it still works great. I have long, fine, naturally straight and easy-to-style hair and I hardly need a straightener for it. I bought the CHI to set my hair since I live in an unbelievably humid region, and also to curl, which the CHI did a good job at. I also needed to get an adapter due to differences in voltage and it still works fine as opposed to the many reviews that stated the product malfunctions easily.
However, what the CHI doesn't provide is volume. I also own a GHD IV pink styler now and it is miles ahead in terms of versatility compared to CHI.
Great and great price

I love this CHI, actually all CHI products. I wouldnt buy another flat iron that is more expensive b/c I got the SEDU and that costs double then the CHI and works equally as well, not any better!!!!!
For the price, it's not worth it

I bought the CHI a couple months ago in like aug 08 it's lasted, but the quality isn't as great as i thought it should be. It snags my hair when i try to straighten it. I'm regret spending so much on it. I decided on getting a Sedu.
Pleased with results but not time

I got this as a Christmas present about two years ago from my aunt. It worked really well, heating up fast and getting my hair soft and smooth in just one swipe. However the other day it just stopped working! I know two years is a while and I really shouldn't be that upset, but I only used it a few times a month because my hair is permed. If I had used it everyday I'm sure it would have bit the dust a long time ago. My cousin got one the same time I did and used it everyday and it broke about four or five months later- same problem. I'm going to try a solia because they seem better. Like I said, good while it lasts, but I wouldn't expect it to for very long..
oh my god im in lovee with my chiii.!

I'm obsessed with my hair. it always has to be perfctly straight.! Since last year i've been using Remington's Wet To Straight straightener. at first i thought it was AMAZINGGG, but after a while it didnt straighten well at all and it wouldnt keep my hair straight. When i bought my pink CHI, my hairstylist suggested that i get CHI silk infusion. it makes my hair look, smell, and feel sooooo good.! i reccomend it to everyone i know.! the CHI is THE BEST straightener i have had in my life. i'm 100% in love with it.like it's my favorite thing in the world. i straighten my hair everyday atleast twice a day. I LOVEEE MY CHIII.!
Always Breaking Chi

I've bought three Chi flat irons in the last two years, and two of the three have broken. When the flat ironed worked, it did wonders on my naturally curly.
After spending anywhere from $125-$165 on a flat iron, you would think it would last longer than a year. My current Chi flat iron won't heat up (and stay heated) unless I shake it or get the cord "just right". I'm very frustrated in the lack of quality of the Chi. They have a great product, but there seems to be a manufacturing problem with the flat iron.
Don't waste your money on this product unless you are prepared to buy a new one in a year.
Does Not Last!

I have had 2 Chi's in the last 2 years and will NOT BUY another on again. They both have shorted out - infact this last one I had did not even last a year. The money you pay for this product it is definitly NOT worth it. I DO NOT recommend this flat iron and will be purchasing a different product in the next day or two.
Mixed feelings...

When I first bought my CHI, I loved it! However, I feel like after a few months it stopped working as well... sometimes it would feel like it was snagging my hair, breaking it or ripping it out of my head and other times it was burning the ends of my hair (basically melting product) and my hair felt like straw.
Some people say they have problems with the cord, I haven't and i've had mine for almost two years.
I guess my only complaint is that it doesn't seem to 'hold it's heat' - it cools down quick, but it still works better than any other straightener i've had. I think I am going to purchase a GHD or a solia now though, to try it out... my CHI's ready to go to Goodwill!
Don't buy a Chi

I purchased a Chi for $130 and thought I was purchasing a 100% ceramic plated iron. I didn't do my homework prior to purchase. I have curly/coarse hair and have noticed I have to go over a section of hair several times to get the straightened result I want. It heated better when it was newer. It is also breaking my hair with each use and I feel it pull on it as I'm straightening! I will be attempting to contact Chi customer service about because it also has a short in the electrical cord. PLEASE don't purchase a Chi.
Very disatisfied.
horriable.

I got a chi for christmas and I just thought i was amazing. Then after about two weeks after christmas tit stopped working. The light went out and the whole thing wouldn't work anymore. I would NOT get this product, no matter how great it works. They break for no reason.

(4 of them who have curly, curly hair) They all have a chi and love it! i also just purchased a solia for my daughter in Maryland. (she wanted a tourmaline) I will write about it when i find out what she thinks! I even love the chi for my hair.. shine, soften and straighten. my husband even noticed a difference! Awesome!! I was told to always use product for heat. chi, paul mitchell smoothing serum, ect

I have had a Chi over a yr and have used it everyday. It not only leaves my hair straight but also very shiny. I enjoy it and have used other products and none have finished the job as quick as a Chi, I'd recommend it to others and buy a 2nd one if necessary. Thanks :)
I prefer Sedu.

After being unsatisfied with previous flat irons, I saw what I thought would be my miracle iron--the Chi flat iron. I'll be honest. I was amazed with the results at first, but what else can one expect after switching from a $15 walmart brand to a professional $70 Chi brand. It wasn't until a couple weeks that I noticed the quality of my hair was getting unusually worse. I ignored this, and used this iron for a couple months and my hair would literally stick out and would be impossible to straighten huh, how ironic.
I bought Sedu and it's AMAZING. It's not amazing. It's AMAZING. And this is coming from someone whose hair was already damaged from the crap that is known as chi.
I would never go back to chi again, and I definitely would not recommend it. Is it worth the price though? Not at all. The only reason I gave it a "fair" rather than a "poor" is because it's good for ironing the collars of my shirt when i'm in a last-minute situation(kudos for you chi!). Sad, but true story my friends.
Lasted 10 days over a year

I shopped around a lot for the flat iron a year ago. 10 days over my 1 year mark (1 year of order not even of beginning to use it) it stopped working - won't turn on. Worked really well while it worked, but for the price I thought it would work a lot longer. In reading around on the internet it is a very common problem for the cord to short out-usually just over a year-convenient for the company that the warranty goes one year... It's a good iron and I loved it - but if you plan on purchasing it go into it with the mindset you will either use the warranty to try to get the short taken care of if you are lucky enough for it to break before the warranty wears out or that you will need to purchase another shortly after the year mark. I never wrap the cord, the iron has never been dropped, and I use it an average of only 2-4 times per week for about 10-15 minutes per time - so not a lot of wear and tear on it. Just plan on the iron lasting about 12 months for the cost if considering buying it.

Usually I go on this site to read reviews before I buy what I want. Based on a lot of reviews, I thought the CHI worked good but didn't last long. Pretty much I ended up ignoring the CHI and really wanted a Sedu or Solia. Yet, that changed right after I went over my friend's house and she strightened my hair with this exact CHI. My hair turned soft, silky, and shiny. I was really happy and knew I had to have it. So, I ended up raving about it to my mom and she said I had to wait until Christmas because she got me an iron in the summer. Well now I have it and I'm in love.
xD
Yes, I know it might not last long, but it's worth a shot, right?
I just hope it lasts AT LEAST a year...
And I'm happy to see it lasted more than 2 years for some people.
:)

I bought the CHI because it was recommend to me at a salon. it took me over half an hour to straighten my shoulder length hair every morning, and it would be wavy again by noon. after about 2 months I left it plugged in to warm up for at least ten minutes and it would cool down and need to heat up again every 2-3 strokes.. after 4 months of using this product the plastic curved so the plates didn't line up. after 5 months it wouldn't heat up or retain heat, and at 5 and a half months it stopped turning on. At the time I bought it, it cost me $150 and I am not impressed. Would defiantly NOT recommend this product.
the best ive ever had, & ive had lots

it is the best I've had so far. it makes my hair shiny. It did go out tho, so I bought a cheap one at the store, and this one is pulling my hair out, and hardly heats up? I dont understand why the chi is so good, but it is
unexpected

When I first got my Chi, it was just perfect. The flat iron was light weighted, and my hair was straight. I was satisfied for a year till the switch didn't respond. The switch was stuck in place and soon the light cut off completely.
And because I used it everyday, it caused my hair to fry at the ends. The Chi really straighten but as well ruin the hair. I still love it (:
