I orginally got my Chi about 2 1/2 years ago. It works great! I've seen a dramatic change in my hair..some good and some bad. I have curly hair, but I have to straighten my hair for a couple days to keep it perfectly "white girl" straight.
When i straighten it now, my straightener has this burn't smell to it. I'm currently searching for a NEW Chi because I believe I just used it way to much and burn't the flat iron out. It does end up having burn't crispies on the side every time I use that I have to clean and smells like fried hair, but thats about it. Overrall I think it was a good buy, just don't over-use it.
MY SECOND CHI.

This is my second chi I bought because my first one broke. It's sad to say but this one stopped working on me. Its the breast cancer chi. I can get it fixed but however it will cost $30 bucks. I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO BUY SOMETHING ELSE!!! seriously save your money. THE CHI'S ARE NO BUENO..

This Is Seriously The Best Straightener I Have Ever Used! I Use It Every Day And Get Amazing Results! Although I Do Get Split Ends A Lot And It Does Fry My Hair, Make Sure To Condition Your Hair Daily If Your Going To Use The Flat Iron Daily. I Would Highly Suggest Getting A CHI!
Waste of Money!!!!

The first time I bought my Chi, I bought it at my hair salon. After only owning it for only one month (if that) it would not work. Get this...I had to try different outlets in my house, because sometimes it would work and sometimes it would not, or only in certian outlets (very weird). I took it back to my hair salon, only to have to ship it back to the manufacturer. They sent me a brand new one. Well, it only lasted not quite a year and the same thing started happening, it would not stay on all the time. For the money I spent it should have lasted atleast until it burnt out!!! I take very good care of my things and I really believe this is a defect issue with the Chi, I have read and heard of this happening to other people. Chi should really do something about this. It only takes one unhappy customer to tell, ten more people and so on...Other than that, I thought it worked well. I have since order a another kind. One I would recommend is the Babyliss. I am trying another brand to see how it works, if not so good, I am going back to the Babyliss. I am glad I found this web site. I can read all the reviews and send back within 30 days!!! If I had know before hand I would not have bought the Chi.

My friends all bought the Chi and it worked great.I was so jelouse of all my friends. they all got theres for christmas. So i went ahead and bought one with my LIFE SAVINGS from babysitting. (im only 10 so thats ALOT of money to us) I took my life savings, and i bought it. I was soooooo excited that i finaly got it. So i went ahead and used it every day. then one day my friends came to school, and we noticed that there was black burnt hairs on all of our heads, except mine. So i kept straightening it and my mom came home one day with the chi hair protector spray, i put it in, staightened my hair, and you could hear all of my hair burnign! and they would be TOTOALLY burnt!! Then after i was done, i put hair spray in it to hold it straight, and after a half an hour my hair got really frizzy. i have washed my hair a million times, and some of my hairs are still black. and my hair getts frizzy alot. so i bought a cheap 20 dollar one and it works GREAT! its amazing! buy a cheap one, not this one.

This is the best streightener ever! My hair is extremly thick and very wavy and this thing just does magic. It streightens my hair in 10-15 minutes. The only bad this is that half way through my school day my hair starts to get wavier. It also seems to make my hair more greasy than usual when I don't streighten it. But other than those two things it is absolutly great!

I just got my CHI today and it is the first time in 2 years that my hair is not up in a ponytail! My hair has been beaten to death (too much bleach, coloring and a number of bad haircuts) and after using their is no way you could tell my hair has been damaged! I have used other flat irons but none make my hair look like this. My hair actually looks healthy! Definitely worth it, I just hope it never breaks...
Love it!

I have just recently tried straightening my hair again after having bad results (and spending hours) using cheap models. I finally bit the bullet and bought The Chi, and I love it! My hair is shoulder length, pretty curly, with a few stubborn cowlicks on top, and some weird waves near my cheeks. I blew it dry first (because it dries weird on its own), then used the Chi Serum with the Chi, and it was straight as a pin in about 10 minutes! My hair is cut in kind of a wedge, with it longer in front, and shorter in back. I was able to get those shorter back hairs easily, without burning myself. My hair is soft and shiny and looks great.
I finally have the straight hair I want, with very little fuss! This is a great straightener.
Great but did not last long!

I absolutely love my Chi straightner...BUT it only lasted 13 months!! I really thought it should have lasted longer than that. There is something wrong with the circuits. It has a short and doesn't always turn on. It was an awesome tool though. I have naturally curly hair and you would never know with this product. Be leary in purchasing it because it is worth the money but not the length of time.

Two of my friends have a Chi.
Well, one does now, while the other had to buy a new hair straightener.
First one has a Chi, and it works on straightening her hair, but her hair seems damaged lately, and it's not working as well as it used to.
The second one had the chi for a few months, but the plastic began to melt, and the wires became exposed, though she never wrapped the cord around it. Thate plates eventually became very brittle, and they broke off as soon as she placed the straightener on the counter. For the price she paid, and it wasn't on Folica, she should have actually been able to use it for a long period of time then a few months.
Why does everyone say its so good....

Holy crap. I hate this straightener. From all the good reviews I thought it would be really good.
IT sucks, it fried my thick wavy hair. There are no heat settings... The ONLY good thing is that it heats up in like a minute. I bought it,and it lasted less than a year and broke. I would not recommend this to anyone. It gave me months of horrible hay looking hair.... :(
I do use heat protectant spray.... I'm going to either try the Paul Mitchell or the Phi straightener....
Please don't get this if you have thick hair...

I've had my CHI for 5 years now and it still works great. I have long, fine, naturally straight and easy-to-style hair and I hardly need a straightener for it. I bought the CHI to set my hair since I live in an unbelievably humid region, and also to curl, which the CHI did a good job at. I also needed to get an adapter due to differences in voltage and it still works fine as opposed to the many reviews that stated the product malfunctions easily.
However, what the CHI doesn't provide is volume. I also own a GHD IV pink styler now and it is miles ahead in terms of versatility compared to CHI.
Great and great price

I love this CHI, actually all CHI products. I wouldnt buy another flat iron that is more expensive b/c I got the SEDU and that costs double then the CHI and works equally as well, not any better!!!!!
For the price, it's not worth it

I bought the CHI a couple months ago in like aug 08 it's lasted, but the quality isn't as great as i thought it should be. It snags my hair when i try to straighten it. I'm regret spending so much on it. I decided on getting a Sedu.
Pleased with results but not time

I got this as a Christmas present about two years ago from my aunt. It worked really well, heating up fast and getting my hair soft and smooth in just one swipe. However the other day it just stopped working! I know two years is a while and I really shouldn't be that upset, but I only used it a few times a month because my hair is permed. If I had used it everyday I'm sure it would have bit the dust a long time ago. My cousin got one the same time I did and used it everyday and it broke about four or five months later- same problem. I'm going to try a solia because they seem better. Like I said, good while it lasts, but I wouldn't expect it to for very long..
oh my god im in lovee with my chiii.!

I'm obsessed with my hair. it always has to be perfctly straight.! Since last year i've been using Remington's Wet To Straight straightener. at first i thought it was AMAZINGGG, but after a while it didnt straighten well at all and it wouldnt keep my hair straight. When i bought my pink CHI, my hairstylist suggested that i get CHI silk infusion. it makes my hair look, smell, and feel sooooo good.! i reccomend it to everyone i know.! the CHI is THE BEST straightener i have had in my life. i'm 100% in love with it.like it's my favorite thing in the world. i straighten my hair everyday atleast twice a day. I LOVEEE MY CHIII.!
Always Breaking Chi

I've bought three Chi flat irons in the last two years, and two of the three have broken. When the flat ironed worked, it did wonders on my naturally curly.
After spending anywhere from $125-$165 on a flat iron, you would think it would last longer than a year. My current Chi flat iron won't heat up (and stay heated) unless I shake it or get the cord "just right". I'm very frustrated in the lack of quality of the Chi. They have a great product, but there seems to be a manufacturing problem with the flat iron.
Don't waste your money on this product unless you are prepared to buy a new one in a year.

I have had 2 Chi's in the last 2 years and will NOT BUY another on again. They both have shorted out - infact this last one I had did not even last a year. The money you pay for this product it is definitly NOT worth it. I DO NOT recommend this flat iron and will be purchasing a different product in the next day or two.
Mixed feelings...

When I first bought my CHI, I loved it! However, I feel like after a few months it stopped working as well... sometimes it would feel like it was snagging my hair, breaking it or ripping it out of my head and other times it was burning the ends of my hair (basically melting product) and my hair felt like straw.
Some people say they have problems with the cord, I haven't and i've had mine for almost two years.
I guess my only complaint is that it doesn't seem to 'hold it's heat' - it cools down quick, but it still works better than any other straightener i've had. I think I am going to purchase a GHD or a solia now though, to try it out... my CHI's ready to go to Goodwill!
