Marcos is far better than both these brands. You should check it out before making a desicion. I almost burned my apartment down with another brand but my Marcos straightener is great because not only does it have an on off switch but you can also set a timer. Hope this helps.

CHI vs. SEDU
I have very short, naturally curly, thick, dyed hair (chin length) and I am torn between the two straighteners. For the past two years I have been using a REMINGTON straightener (wet 2 straight 2"). I have recently been to a salon where they used a CHI on my hair. It came out absolutely beautiful; it was shiny and flowed with me. It was much better than my two-year-old wal-mart cheapie. I'm not saying that the Remington straightener that I had wasn't good, because my friend had the exact one and her hair turned out perfect and never turned frizzy when it was humid. Mine, on the other hand, turned into an afro. When my hair was styled, I learned more helpful information from my stylist, and she said that I needed a ceramic straightener because they create so much less damage upon your hair and they tend to work better against frizz.I came upon this website through google, and I have been searching for hours to find some sort of way to determine my question: CHI or SEDU? I have read endless reviews, tips & advice, and Q & A pages, but none seem to answer my questions fully. Which iron would work better against blocking out frizz and humidity ?

I switched to Sedu after my CHI died after only 6 months. Sedu works much better for my curly, very frizzy hair (I live in humid area). Hope it helps.

omg! i totally understand ur problem! i had my chi for over 6 months and loved it but i gave it my sister. long story. but i was going to get a new one for christmas and i loved my old one but before i spent $100+ on a staightener, i wanted to make sure i was getting the best. i was all hyped up about the sedu and so sure it was the best. i got it for christmas, ordered off this site. but i used and although my hair looked great in front of the mirror it was wavy and frizzy again by the time i left the house! that never happened with my chi! i was furious. thankfully i was able to send it back and exchange it for a chi. my advise, hands down go with the chi! and i'd say stick with the original, i haven't heard great things about the others. and i know the original works. good luck!

Chi, Solia, or Sedu
I have very thick curly hair and am looking into investing in a good straightning iron, but am overwhelmed by the reviews for these 3. I was wondering which one is the best one out there,

the sedu works much better then both the chi and solia. my chi broke within a year and the solia tends to snag and cause more breakage to my hair then the sedu. hope this helps

unofrtunately, no it does not. i also own a CHI and one time i left my house forgetting to turn it off. the amazing think is that i left my house for hours and when i came back, the straightener was still on but nothing happened. the only thing it did leave was a burnt spot on my carpet

Chi damaging hair
I have had my chi for about three months and I *LOVE* it so much I can't stand it! My hair looks amazing and so I cannot fathom not using it...however it is frying my hair. I am using the products my hairstylist told me to and it is still getting fried. My hair is highlighted but has always been in good condition 'til now. I use professional products and never skimp so I am stumped. I was not using biosilk however, although I am now. I was using heat seal from Paul Mitchel along with Big Sexy hair soy shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioner spray, along with a shine serum from Paul Mitchel and mousse. I've just started to use the chi spray that you put on right before you use the iron, but I am stumped as I've always been told not to use an iron with wet hair, but this product makes your hair wet! Can someone please tell me what products will help me keep my hair healthy while using my chi? Thanks!

Well, your hair is going to get damaged/fried if you use heat on it everyday no matter what. However, you can help to make the damage minimal. Biosilk isn't good. There is too much alcohol in it, it dries out the hair. Use chi silk infusion instead. Also, thats a lot of products that you put on your hair. Just use the silk infusion. I use the chi spray too, but if you don't like it then just use the silk infusion. Or you can do what I do, just hold the bottle really far from your hair and give each side of your head two quick squirts, then wait a few seconds for it to dry...if you use too much your hair will seem wet. also once a week, you should deep condition and do a protein treatment. I like redken deep fuel as a protein treatment and either loreal unfrizz or sunsilk tlc multi symtom masque as a deep conditioner. hope i helped! :-)

alterna spray shine-best thing for flat ironing. spray each section before running the iron over it, it won't make your hair greasy.

CHI or Solia
My hair is 4 or 5 inches past shoulderlength, thick and wavy. Are Chi's really worth the money. My friends use them and I love how they feel when I got my hair done. But will it fry my ends.IS there a product you could reccomend that would stop my hair from frying.

you need to get a serum, anything oil based. think of it like when you bake you need to grease the pan or the food will burn...its the same with your hair. believe me i had to wait a year before i could use mine again because it got soooo damaged. just make sure you only use a tiny bit and run it through your hair before you iron it. biosilk has a good serum and chi even makes a hair serum and heat protecting spritz that works really well. they sell them usually in a 3 pack of the serum, spritz and conditioner. also sephoria makes this serum...philsophy shear slendor that is absolutely amazing!!either of the forementioned serums work wonders and last forever...also i like to use this spray that bedhead makes called headrush that adds shine and has a heat protecting agent to it[dont just use it though its not enough] and it makes your hair smell like whoa....AMAZING!

I don't exactly know how hot it gets. But I was using it one day and accidently let the inside of my right thumb hit the HOT iron, and within the next day it was really, really pink and made a huge "blister-like" bump. And it took like two weeks to heal. So it can get really hot!!!
