Can you use it like a curling iron. Question posted by raquel Fri Mar 21 2008 Submit your answer Chi or Solia? (Or other...?)
I have a Conair Infiniti, and i'm just not sure it works as well anymore. Everyone RAVES about the Chi, and I've used it a few times. my stylist uses one but i don't know, it's never THRILLED me. the Chi and the Solia seem to get great reviews, i'm just confused! I have pretty thick, curly hair, and it takes me a while to straighten my hair. Chi and Solia also seem to have pretty good prices. I NEED HELP FAST! (Reasonable prices for other suggestioins!) Question posted by le b Tue Mar 04 2008 Submit your answer Is this good for curling hair?
do the curls it makes stay in for a long period of time? Question posted by dee Fri Feb 01 2008 Submit your answer Heating system
I am told that the best straightner is the one that heats the hair from the inside out...Not surface heating. Is this iron like that? Question posted by Tammy Sat Dec 01 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by simi

I dont think the hair should be heated up from inside out, that spoils the quality of ur hair, infact the best straightner would be the one that gives a perfect shine to ur hair and doesnt harm ur hair, even if used often | CHI or Solia???
Which one??? Should i get a CHI??? based on how straight not how long it works for. If u say CHI which color? And if u say Solia which color?? Give me ur reasons please! Thanks~Amanda~ Question posted by ~Amanda~ Tue Nov 27 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Jai

I dont know about Solia but I live by my CHI irons!! I have a lot of EXTREMELY THICK HAIR!!! My stylist uses them on all of his clients (Black and White) My hair gets straighter than if I use chemicals and I dont have to straighten each individual strand of hair. I can grab a good amount of hair and it will be wonderfully straight. I have the black 1" | Wavy hair
Ok, so I've heard this Chi is amazing and I've used it a few times and it's worked great. I have reasonably long, some-what wavy hair. I'm just wondering, does anyone recommend a better straightener for my hair type, or is this the right choice? Question posted by Alli Fri Nov 23 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Kathy

My hair is like yours and I got a CHI and it works amazingly! My hair becomes pin-straight with only a few runs down with the iron! The CHI is definately the right choice. | Cord Problem
Cord is broken near the handle. Can replacement cords be purchased and installed easily, or do you simply throuw it away. Question posted by Carol Sat Jul 28 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by Katie

It is dangerous to install the cord yourself. Get a new one! Life is more important than money | | Reply by Chris Scott

Actually this is a common problem. We have had 3 Chi's and all 3 have had the chord problem up near the handle. (usually a couple months after the one year warranty is up) I have taken the handle apart with a simple phillips screw driver. 4 small screws and your in. Once in, the cord is very surpisingly simple. It simply plugs in to the handle. It is separate all together, no solder or connections. Will they sell us the cord? Thats what I'm here to find out. It would be kinda cheap if they didn't, I have to buy a $100.00 Chi once a year? | WHAT BRAND IS BETTER
I have a chi iron and I have had to send it off twice to be repaired both times it was a cord problem. I think that if its a problem with the cord then chi should have to fix it for nothing. (Defaulty equipment might you want to call it I would think) It seems Im not the only one with this problem. What brand would be a better one? Check out Sedu 1.5 inch flat iron. Apparently it's like the highest rated flat iron... | broken hair straightener
I've had my Chi hair straightener for about 2 years and recently it goes on and then shut off and it seems like it had something to do with the cord, sometimes when I move the cord it will turn back on. Does anyone know of anywhere I can get it fixed, should I return it to the hairstylist who got it for me and see what she can do, or should I just forget and buy a new one? My chi typically breaks after two years of using it. Just so you know.
I think the reason my last one did was because of a coard problem. | | Reply by Your Dad

My wife's chi stopped working after a month or so ... would come on, heat up, then shut off. It would start working again after being allowed to cool off, but would stop again upon heating. I took it apart (which I do NOT recommend you do) ... there is a heat sensor in one of the plates that obviously is a safety device to prevent overheating ... In this case, the device was not overheating, as the sensor was tripping long before the optimal temperature was being reached. I think this is a weak component in the chi and fails, either completely, or in this case partially, rendering the device useless. The sensor is connected to the circuit board inside the handle with 2 wires ... you can confirm if this is the problem by TEMPORARILY bypassing the sensor (run a wire accross the 2 terminals) to see if the led comes on again. I just put this information out there as a potential cause of failure ... I DO NOT recmommend defeating the sensor as a way to fix this product. DON'T screw around with the guts of this thing unless you really know what you are doing ... cheers. | black thick hair??

Marcos is far better than both these brands. You should check it out before making a desicion. I almost burned my apartment down with another brand but my Marcos straightener is great because not only does it have an on off switch but you can also set a timer. Hope this helps. | | Reply by Bernice
