the way that you scrunch your hair is right after you wash your hair let it towel dry for about 3 minutes then comb through it to get tangles out put about a quarter size amount of any styleing gel in the palm of your hand (amount varys from thick to thin hair) flip your hair over and grab a hand full of hair (all the way to the root) and squeeze it tightly. flip your hair back over and do the same on both sides of your part and in the back

First of all, it helps if you have naturally wavy or curly hair. Ok so after you take a shower put some gel or mousse in ur hair and scrunch it. When you blow dry it keep scrunching, thats basically all.

What you do is put moose in your hand alot of it while your hair is wet and put your hand under all your hair bring it up to your head and squeeze thats all I hope this worked

do on towel dried hair ( so it's a little moist and the mousse works) if you have frizzy hair like mine, you put some de-frizzing cream ( i prefer pantene pro-v restoratives in the purple) then you just take some mousse and distribute it through yur hair evenly with a wide toothed comb. then your take some gel ( about the size of a quarter) and put your hand at the bottom of your hair then push yur hand up towards yur scalp, so yur hair gets scrunched in the middle. do that throughtout yur whole head and then grap hand fulls and just hold it in yur fist. then let it air dry. when it's dry and if it feels crispy and u don't like it just scrunch it some more to get rid of some of the gel. hope it works

I took my Chi to spain this summer, used a converter and had to use an adaptor on top of that so it would fit the european plugs. It worked for a few minutes and then it would overheat and turn off. I have tried it in Italy as well and have had little success making it work. It might have been my converter. Before you buy one just make sure the Chi plug holds well in the converter. And that it transforms the 220V into 120V.

How long?
How long does it take to heat up and how long does it stay straight?

It only take a couple min. But I've known from experience it doesn't always cool down that fast. It takes about 20 min. with my chi.

As you get more and more use out of your CHI it will eventually take longer to heat up. The little red light might start dying. My hair didn't stay completely straight in humidity, it got puffy. In normal weather my thick hair would stay straight.

it takes about 39 seconds to heat up. Your hair will stay striaght 4 2or3 days if you dont get it wet

Wow, whoever said it stays straight for 2 or 3 days: BS! I live in the driest place ever, and it doesn't last the day. Takes like a minutes to heat up(if it does) but I wouldn't let that influence you buying it. Mine broke, and before it broke it was crap.

Takes a minute or so to warm up. And hair does stay straight until it gets wet, even for a few days, even in humid weather. My little hairs around my face start to frizz up only in very high humidy on hot summer days, probably just because of being in contact with sweat! And I have very frizzy hair.

Chi vs Sedu
I am still struggling as to which one to buy. Possibly because of where I live in Canada my hairdresser has never heard of the Sedu, but swears by the CHI. She has used it in the salon for more than 2 years with no problems. I can't find any hairdresser in my city that has heard about Sedu. My concern is both for the quality of the CHI based on other posts, but also it appears that the tourmaline plates and Far Infrared in the Sedu would damage your hair a lot less. But I am also concerned about how hot the Sedu gets, as I don't want to be burning my forehead like I used to with a curling iron, also one person posted that she sweats from the heat of the sedu and has to take a break. My hair looks gorgeous when my hairdresser uses the chi, but I am concerned about damage if I use it every day.

I have a CHI and use it everyday. It will dry out the ends of your hair eventually, but if you get your hair cut every six weeks or so to remove the dry ends, you should be fine. It helps to use a product (I use AVEDA) that you put on your hair after you wash it (while still damp) that helps to seal the cuticle. That way, when you flatiron your hair, it will take less effort to get it smooth, reducing the amount of heat you need to apply.

I actually own the Sedu, it's amazing. It does get very hot, so you do have to be careful, but I don't think it's easy to burn yourself, unless your being careless - but that goes for all heating appliances. I would recommend the Sedu - I know a few people who use the Chi - and I'm sure that it's great too, but the Sedu is a purchase you'll never regret!

If you straighten your hair, you will need to get it thoroughly wet before it will be curly again.

damaged hair
hi ummm... a lot of people are putting that the chi damages your hair after a while and it gets all frizzy and dry. i have very thin baby fine hair, but it's always wavy and i just love it when it's straight. i've bought those conair ceramic straighteners in the past and my hair gets really damaged from it because my hair is so thin and i use thermal protection on it too. is there a certain product that you can buy that will help with the damage?
