sedu, i think. it seems best, and a hairdresser told me chi just doesn't compare. but if your hair is on the thin side there won't be that much difference, so depends if your willing to spend the extra miney or not. | | Reply by Allie

the chi definately does have a lot of electrical problems, but it really does do a great job. i'm on my second one within two years.. the chord gets loose and the light flashes on and off, so when you are straightening your hair, it starts to cool down and makes it frizzy b/c there is no heat on. compared to the coriolis, the chi is better hands down. I'm trying to decide between the sedu, chi, and solano. my sister has the solano and loves it, so i might get that. still unsure tho. good luck with picking the right one. | How to tighten or unscrew the hinge of the Chi Flat Iron
YES, I HAVE 4 CHI FLAT IRONS THAT DO NOT WORK. IT IS ELECTRICAL, AND NO I DID NOT WRAP THE CORD. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE CAN UNSCREW THE HINGE AREA. I SENT THEM BACK AND THEY RETURNED THEM, I WAS SO FAITHFUL - AND THEY COULD CARE LESS. Question posted by KAREN Thu Mar 29 2007 Submit your answer | Reply by ron williams

Take a very small screw driver and pop the cover off the henge area.( It looks like a button) under the button cover it looks like 2 screws, take 2 screw driver and unscrew them. One is a screw the other is a pin. Take a set of tweser and pull the pin out. My chi started out to what seemed to be too hot. i often smelled burning. I used the biosilk and the chi ion flat iron spray. I checked with my stylist and she could not believe my healthy hair had been scorched. I stopped going over the hair piece more than once. It happened again a few days ago so I quit using it I tried again this morning as I was getting ready for church and it started smoking alot and all the sudden plastic was dripping and the plates fell out...the whole thing was melted!!!!!! I am furious and will be taking this "high" quality product back..I am hoping it was just a defect and not all chi irons are like this. | | Reply by susan

Also had a plate come out. Iron works great - not under warranty. Has anyone found a glue that actually works - or any way to repair? | | Reply by Karen

I had this happen to me so I went to the auto supply store and bought HIGH heat gasket sealer/maker made for engine motors. I just applied it inside and pressed them back together. The heat hardens the gasket sealer and walaaa. It has never came off again. Hope this helps. I have been using mine like this for two years. | broken chi

the chi tends to do that with the light. the plates are very sensitive nd i recently dropped mine on the floor and it stopped working. the plate probably popped out of place cause if u try pushin the plate in a bit the red light will probably show up. I think you can send it back to the company - or take it back to the place you bought it. I bought mine at Ulta a few months ago nd i simply told them it broke nd they gave me a new one with no problem =) but otherwise just send it back to the company there shud b a warranty in the box .. hope this helps. | | Reply by Marlowe

Probably the power cord. I had the same problem. I have been searching for a replacement cord, (no success so far). Good luck. Maybe try a local small appliance repair store that can solder on a rigid power cord instead of the swivel type that doesn't seem to work very well in the long run. | melted chi
