I bought this to protect my hair but it actually makes it shiny too. I would recommend it. It was ok but my problem was that i found it 2 be very much like hairspray. It wasnt that sticky just after i had ran my flat iron trew my hair it looked like i took glue and flatend my hair. I protected my hair good but i also wasent impressed with the white stuff it left in my hair and brushes. This product is only good for people with some what straight hair. Im mixed and this was not a good idea. My hair is very thick and curly and hard 2 straighten. This dryed out my hair. i wouldnt sggest it. Its way to much for the results. All this did was make my hair sticky and very hard to straighten. Even after it was all straigt it made it hard to style and it was hard and dull looking. I went back to my cheap five dollar heat protectant to see if it would make a difference and it did. My hair was actually soft and manageable when I was done. I wrote an e-mail of compliant to the company I can't believe they would actually sell this stuff with such as high price tag and get away with it. Honestly it is awful! Like the silk infusion but this stuff needs to be trashed!! Even lightly spraying Iron Guard coats your hair and makes it stiff. It's like spraying stiff, stiff hair spray. I had never bought a Thermal Spray before - used Kiehls and it was ok and actually used and like Silk Infusion but I wanted to try a spray. It flat-ironed barely ok - however, felt stiff and when I tried to wash it out - could NOT get the coating off. I could barely run a comb through after using the detangler. When I tried to wash it out last night, 3 Shampooings (1 with Clarifying shampoo) and can still barely run a comb through it and this morning can still feel the coating. I have since purchased the Wella Thermal spray and it works great and washes out great - Run Away from CHI Iron Guard and try anything else. This product leaves your hair feeling shiny and soft right after you straighten it. I love it, but when you first put it on it makes your hair greasy and sticky, but after you run it through the iron it feels awesome. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.
